    Exeter Holiday Cottages

Perched at the mouth of the River Exe, the historic city of Exeter is a perfect base from which to explore South Devon. The magnificent Exeter Cathedral is the city's Gothic focalpoint and it presides over a lively quayside and vibrant town centre. Meanwhile, the dramatic Dartmoor National Park is just a short drive away, offering lots of family-friendly hiking and cycling opportunities. Or head to the South Coast for Devon's glorious golden beaches.

If you're after that home-from-home feeling, our self-catering cottages in Exeter will give you all the cosy atmosphere you're looking for. For maximum convenience, choose one of our city centre homes that are just a short walk away from Exeter's restaurants and pubs. If you fancy something a bit more rural, why not look at our barn conversions or country lodges, on the outskirts of the city. We even have dog-friendly cottages with safe and private gardens for Fido to enjoy.

Of course, all of our self-catering holiday homes come fully furnished and equipped with all the essentials like linens, towels and cooking equipment. But don't stop there; many cottages in our collection have luxury add-ons like hot tubs, for a more romantic break. And with our best-price guarantee, these don't have to come with a luxury price-tag. Whatever you're looking for, our friendly team will help you find it - so give us a call and book your Exeter break today!

What our customers say about their holidays

    • Ellie - Verified booking

The owners were very helpful and communications good.

The Engine House was a little more remote than we had perhaps appreciated but it very quiet and had magnificent views from the gardens. The house was a little tardis and a good size. As it is set within the walls of the Quarry it was a little dark inside not helped by the weather! However there was lots of lighting throughout. At night it is pitch black so you really need a torch if you need the loo in the night and don't want to leave lights on. Absolutely wonderful for star gazing on a clear night though - we were blessed to have one of them! A few treats left in the fridge and on the side and a dog bed and blankets too. The bedrooms were well equipped with hanging space and chest of drawers but the bed was a little firm for our liking. Lots of blankets and extra pillows too. A well stocked kitchen with plenty of pots, pans and utensils for self catering. The dishwasher wasn't working whilst we were there but that had been communicated to us and an engineer did come out to try and fix it. A lovely bathroom with great shower over the bath. Open plan living including a TV, dining room table, a sofa and chair so seating for 4 adults which was comfortable. Good WiFi and a stock of games, books and DVDs on the side to choose from. We had a terrific storm whilst we were there which tripped the electrics. We tried fixing it but to no avail and Steven and Lucie came straight out when we called them. We unfortunately had to cut our stay short due to family illness back home and Lucie was very kind in her response. There were some nice walks from the Engine House and we enjoyed a walk up to the Quarry and learning the history of the building. A nice get away from it all holiday but i think a little too remote for us to return. However we would recommend to friends for a cosy short break in beautiful surroundings.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Luccombe Barn. Our excellent hosts (in the adjacent barn conversion) Bill and Betty made sure that we had everything we needed. A spacious and well equipped kitchen diner and a very comfortable lounge provides an excellent base to relax. Together with a utility room and downstairs loo there is everything that you would possibly need. Upstairs is equally impressive with a large double bedroom and another large bedroom with 3 singles (and more floor space for another!) With a good sized bathroom with bath and separate shower you can't go wrong. Another plus is that there are windows on both sides of the kitchen and lounge so you get the benefit of morning and evening sun. The garden is great with lovely views over the lake. Not too far from the Exe Estuary cycle trail - a brilliant cycle (or walk) in alongside the canal to Exeter Quay and an amazing cycle track alongside the river and railway in the direction of Dawlish. Not to mention ferries at Topsham, Turf and Starcross ....enjoy!

We chose Luccombe Barn not only for its proximity to Exeter (15 minute drive), but also because it's one of only a few holiday homes that accept dogs but aren't based on working farms. The barn is gorgeous - spacious, well laid out, and furnished with everything we needed for a short break. All the fittings are of a high standard and the place is kept spotlessly clean by the two wonderful caretakers, Bill and Betty, who live across the yard. Nothing is too much trouble for them, and while they're quite happy to keep out of your way they're also great company and have plenty of advice on things to see and do locally. If you're a dog owner or not, this is a great place to visit. It's worth driving for 5 minutes to get to the best local beauty spots as there's only a fishery right on the doorstep, but we honestly couldn't have hoped for a better base. We very much hope to be back, if there's still availability this year!

We truly loved every minute of our stay at Lucombe cottage. The cottage its self is equipped with everything you could possibly need and is so cozy but spacious. The cottage is located a short distance from a Tesco express and a larger Tesco is within a reasonable distance. The grounds are absolutely beautiful and the private garden to the rear is the perfect place to sit and relax and enjoy the wildlife. The host’s gave us a lovely warm welcome and were available throughout our stay if needed. There are so many beautiful places to visit locally and would highly recommend Torquay and the river side walk into Exeter. We will definitely stay at Lucombe again in the future. We were so sad to leave and were not ready to go home.

Wonderful welcome and continuing care by the Landlords Bill and Betty. Quite a large cottage so no shortage of space and of course the fishing lakes are on the other side of the fenced in garden - garden great for dogs. My only slight disappointment was that I would have liked to have seen more spent on the bedding as pillows and small duvet not conducive for goods night sleep, especially given how much it cost for the week. I know that the Landlords were having the shower fixed as the water pressure is low and it needs a water pump except we booked late so they couldn't do it but I'm sure it'll be done for the next guests. Overall pleasantly surprised and hope we'd be welcome back next time. 9/10.
