"Outstanding from the minute of arrival to the sad departure. I only say sad, as we did not want to leave. This cottage is truly out of this world. Immaculately clean with such attention to detail, coupled with the beautiful surroundings makes this a perfect home from home. Having stayed in many pet friendly cottages before I have found that owners don’t provide perfect cleanliness/furnishings and, although I can partly understand this, Blueacres took my breath away for being different from this norm. Set in what can only be described as one of the most beautiful viewpoints in Scotland, this cottage also has a south facing garden which is a dream to sit out in looking across the hills. The sheep and the resident pony are added extras and entertainment. Never before would I have been so sad to leave a lamb which had became my favourite little character. The owners are down to earth, friendly people with very beautiful dogs who all love attention as they come by and visit you at the gate. This cottage is perfectly situated to explore the Scottish Borders, Lanarkshire and beyond as well as providing welcome respite from a busy life. I think I will always return here and I think I left a little bit of my heart in Blueacres. I would love to tell no one about this place and keep it as my hidden gem however I cannot be selfish and highly recommend to anyone who wishes to book. You will not regret it. 10/10."

"Our stay at four winds was great.A big thank you to Kirstie & Fraser for there lovely wecome and consideration for us to have a good time at there lovely bungalow. We found four winds very clean, well presented with good quality fixtures and fittings. May I mention that although the description says steps to entry, if you do so at the back door the garden has a more level approach and would be easy for wheelchair ,then all doors are extra wide and all furnished with dissabled access in mind.the drive is also generously wide and we could park the car and open both doors fully. Situated in a quiet area with great views of the surrounding hills from the lounge. There was everything we could hope for and more for cooking and preparing meals.even car washing equipment. All the towels and bedding was very good quality and spotless.the bathroom is newly fitted and again dissabled frendly, great walk in shower with ample hot water.all in all we had a brilliant time."

"The flat was a second choice for us. Starting with the positives well equipped kitchen, comfortable bed, nice bright lounge/diner but high windows as on 2nd floor had to stand to see the view which was lovely. The owners were very helpful and met us on arrival, and left some nice touches chocolates, tea, coffee, wine etc. Cleanliness could have been better the kitchen work surfaces were not clean. The massive let down was the bathroom The photo only showed the loo and the description was "shower over bath" we assumed that to be the case. Reality was a shower 3 foot above the bath and because the ceiling sloped you could not stand and shower (not unless you are 3 foot tall) so you had to bath not shower. The whole bathroom was grotty paint peeling and a ramshackle towel rack hung on the door. If we had known this we would not have booked. If the owners upgraded the bathroom it would be acceptable as long as you don't mind 2 flights of stairs."

"Four Winds cottage is a real home away from home, and is the perfect base to explore Loch Ness and the Scottish Highlands, the property is very clean and well presented and has everything that you will need to enjoy your stay, the property is situated in a quiet part of the village with great views of the surrounding countryside, there is, a well stocked shop a short walk away and there are also places to eat and drink within easy walking distance. the kitchen is very well equipped with everything that you will need to enjoy your stay and even has a Pump Espresso Coffee Machine for barista style coffee lovers, the bathroom was very clean and well fitted with a walk in shower that is very powerful and was a refreshing start to the day.the owners are very welcoming and friendly and Four Winds cottage was a perfect base for our stay in the Scottish Highlands and we would definitely stay here again when in the area"

"A beautiful holiday cottage in a wonderful location. Bayview has been renovated to a very high standard and has been decorated and furnished with style and taste. It is very comfortable and very well equipped. The owners have thought of everything. They even provided home cooked dinners in the freezer for guests to purchase as the dining-out opportunities on Sanday are rather limited. They also make dogs very welcome. There was a lovely collection of food from the island to welcome us - fresh free-range eggs, Orkney butter, homemade jam and shortbread and a local loaf. There were even treats for the dogs, dog bowls and towels and dog toys.We had a wonderful relaxing time in this comfortable cottage. The location is quite unique - between the sea and a loch and it's very quiet. The ideal place to get away from it all. We didn't want to leave and we certainly want to return!"
