"The main reason for us not returning, which is such a shame as there was so much that we did enjoy was that the entire stay was ruined for everyone in my party by the very poor quality of the mattresses and lack of sleep that resulted from this. The bed linen was also of a below average standard, not in keeping with the overall appearance of what should be a luxury house. There was a problem with lighting in two of the bedrooms on the first floor, both main lights not working and only one bedside table lamp usable due to a lack of plug sockets. The jacuzzi was a lovely treat but again ruined by the lack of care and attention. The frame surrounding it had broken and missing panels in the roof, the side curtains were missing and there was no lighting in that immediate area making getting in and out quite hazardous. While we appreciate that we were staying during the Christmas/New Year period, and normal services can be disrupted, it was not a very pleasant sight to be left with the overflowing rubbish bins and recycling items from the previous guests festivities.I hope the owner takes these comments on board as most of these things are easily rectified to ensure that further guests get to have what should have been for us, an enjoyable stay in a grand house."

"This house looks amazing on the website, however we found several issues with the house and have photographed these. The front door is the only one with a lock on it,the internal door has evidence of locks previously being on it but these appear to have been removed.Inside the house there is electric plugs not attached to the wall. The hot tub is missing most of its roof and the side panels/curtains missing also rendering it unusable if raining. There was a small hole and crack in one of the front windows. In the back garden there is a stank with a space at the side of it,the dog got her paw and leg caught in this. The bedding was of poor quality and never really fitted the beds particularly in front downstairs bedroom. In the middle floor there was constant debris coming down the chimney and into the bedroom. The top floor was extremely cold despite hall radiator. On the top floor also there is evidence in bedroom that roof has been leaking. The bathrooms were all nice, kitchen was nice and well equipped. We went here as a family with two children aged 8 and 6 also a 10 month old,2 dogs and 8 adults, whilst the house certainly has plenty of room I don’t believe it’s safe for children or should be marketed towards families."

"This house blew me away. The people who designed it have amazing style and vision, the way it was refurbed with unique and high quality materials made the experience of staying here very special. We enjoyed the vast amounts of space to relax, to eat together at the amazing table, the ease that we could cater in the state of the art kitchen where nothing has been forgotten. So often in a holiday property something is compromised but here nothing was, it was designed with love and felt like a home. The bedrooms are huge with plenty of space to relax, each one has its own fabulous bathroom with candles, lovely bath products. A second lounge/TV den upstairs was perfect for the younger members of the party. Special mention to Ballintaggart a local caterers/hotel/restaurant business who provided catering services, including dinners, breakfasts and packed lunches with delicious local Scottish farm produce. Their staff were professional and friendly and provided two barbecues, two sit down three course catered dinners and other meals we could cook ourselves, this was the finishing touch and meant all we had to worry about was enjoying ourselves."

"We really enjoyed our stay and It is a lovely size and has plenty of room for 2 families. The cottage has 3 lovely bedrooms, a cosy lounge, very smart dining room and also a spacious kitchen with excellent appliances and crockery and glasses. Also, there is a lovely conservatory. The garden is big and perfect for pets. There is a gate at the bottom of the garden where you can take your dog straight to the woods and the park. We took our dog and the house was really well laid out to ensure he stayed downstairs and segregated! We were greeted by the owner Nicki with fresh scones and a welcome pack of food, a really nice touch after a 4 hour drive. As for the location, Gatehouse of Fleet is a lovely village with nice pubs, Masonic Arms is dog friendly, and a supermarket 2 minutes from the house. Lots to do in the area within 30 minutes too. If you have a dog this property and area is excellent and for kids of all ages too. We had a fab week here and I would highky recommend Buckle House and the location. Great value too."

"I’m thrilled to say we had the most amazing weekend imaginable. Everything you planned for us went down extremely well – all of the activities, the caterers (wow!), transportation and of course Phillippe, the slightly panicky and therefore typical Frenchman who kept us all in check and I’m so glad he was there. The house is incredibly tastefully decorated and furnished, and super comfortable – definitely a house designed for refined entertaining. Even the weather was kind. It only properly rained the day we left and the first night we were there it didn’t get dark, we enjoyed the most extraordinary sky well beyond midnight. We were 17 friends who rarely get the chance to all come together at the same time with children shipped off elsewhere etc., so what a treat for us. You’ve created something truly exceptional in Hilltop Manor and certainly for us, one of the most memorable and enjoyable times we’ve ever experienced. With enormous thanks and very best wishes."
