"We were staying in Banff as a mix of work and visiting family, and Thain House was a warm and welcome retreat after long busy days. The house is wonderfully well-equipped with everything you could possibly want, and more. We especially loved the massive selection of DVDs! The wide range of ingredients in the kitchen cupboards. And feeding (and watching!) the many birds in the garden with the provided seed. Beds are super-comfy, heating efficient, the shower is powerful and although the house is opposite the local hospital, it was really quiet so we slept so well. Plentiful parking on street - even if can't always park right outside the door, it's only ever a few steps to find a free space. Banff itself and the surrounding area is full of historical interest and is really beautiful at any time of year, plus has a wide selection of restaurants, pubs and walks on the doorstep. Thain House also actively welcomes dogs - what's not to love!"

"The flat was a second choice for us. Starting with the positives well equipped kitchen, comfortable bed, nice bright lounge/diner but high windows as on 2nd floor had to stand to see the view which was lovely. The owners were very helpful and met us on arrival, and left some nice touches chocolates, tea, coffee, wine etc. Cleanliness could have been better the kitchen work surfaces were not clean. The massive let down was the bathroom The photo only showed the loo and the description was "shower over bath" we assumed that to be the case. Reality was a shower 3 foot above the bath and because the ceiling sloped you could not stand and shower (not unless you are 3 foot tall) so you had to bath not shower. The whole bathroom was grotty paint peeling and a ramshackle towel rack hung on the door. If we had known this we would not have booked. If the owners upgraded the bathroom it would be acceptable as long as you don't mind 2 flights of stairs."

"We had a fantastic Easter weekend break with our little boy at this very clean and cosy cottage. Fabulous views and lots of little touches that just made the stay that little bit special. Blue by Ewe is well equipped and there was even milk, some biscuits, tea / coffee and some Easter sweets waiting on our arrival! The cottage owners are lovely and we even ordered a home cooked meal which was delicious! (My son can particularly recommend the sweetcorn fritters!) The cottage is right near to Inverewe Gardens which is definitely worth a visit! There are also plenty of local walks and a lovely beach more or less on the doorstep. Gairloch is also worth a visit if you want to do a boat trip. The local shop is well stocked but it is worth doing a stop at Inverness en route if you want to stock up before your stay. All in all, we had a wonderful time!"

"We had the pleasure to be the very first guests in the recently modernised apartment. Everything was new. A number of items were missing. We immediately adressed those things with the landlord and he sorted it all out in a quick manner. The apartments in the Courtyard are best for visitors that intend to explore Scotland by train. Inverkeithing railway station is situated within walking distance and offers frequent train connections (Edinburgh is served every 15 mins in a 22 minute journey). We made excursions to Dundee, St. Andrews, Pitlochry, Perth, Edinburgh and Glasgow. Our first floor apartment had three windows out onto the High Street, which offers an interesting view. Landlord and his house keeping team are very friendly helpful."

"Having stayed on the Solway coast before we knew what the area had to offer, we expected a pleasant stay without any problems what-so-ever. Cottage is nice but nothing special, didn’t feel homely as nothing was comfortable (beds/sofas). Felt tired and a few places needed TLC, both kettles provided were full of limescale and not useable, also a number of plug sockets were broken and hoover plug was broken. For guests that are not dog owners I wouldn’t recommend as dog hair is visible throughout the property - even found it all over the duvet in the master bedroom as if a big black dog had been sleeping on the bed!Although the property did not meet our expectations it won’t be our last visit to the slowly coast."
