"Booked this for the annual family get together for 7 of us and 2 dogs. Cottage is in a fantastic location next to the river with views across the countryside. It's very modern inside with loads of space for us all and we loved the open plan ground floor with the bi-folding doors. It was very clean and warm. The owner met us on arrival and gave us a tour which was a nice touch. The furnishings are very comfy and the fire is great at night time. There is a walk along the river from the field at the back of the house which was great for the dogs as, apart from the sheep in the field at the house, the rest were fenced in. We also saw Red Kites. At night there is no light pollution so the stars look amazing. The house is perfectly situated for exploring the area. Kirriemuir is 10mins away and Forfar a little further. It took us just over half an hour to get to Lunan Bay which is a stunning beach. The Cairngorms provide the backdrop of the north view from the house and it only takes 30 - 40 mins to get to Glen Clova or Glen Doll where there are several walks, as well as access to the Cairngorm Plateau. Braemar was about 1hr and 15mins where we explored more walks and bagged a Munro. The house was perfect for us. Beautiful rural setting but close to shops and towns should we need it but likewise not far from areas where you can just spend the day walking and enjoying nature. The pub up the road does excellent food and has a steak night on Tuesdays."

"We were staying in Banff as a mix of work and visiting family, and Thain House was a warm and welcome retreat after long busy days. The house is wonderfully well-equipped with everything you could possibly want, and more. We especially loved the massive selection of DVDs! The wide range of ingredients in the kitchen cupboards. And feeding (and watching!) the many birds in the garden with the provided seed. Beds are super-comfy, heating efficient, the shower is powerful and although the house is opposite the local hospital, it was really quiet so we slept so well. Plentiful parking on street - even if can't always park right outside the door, it's only ever a few steps to find a free space. Banff itself and the surrounding area is full of historical interest and is really beautiful at any time of year, plus has a wide selection of restaurants, pubs and walks on the doorstep. Thain House also actively welcomes dogs - what's not to love!"

"2 children and 4 adults very comfortable in the house. Beds were excellent and anyone who has read any of my reports will know I’m fussy. House very well equipped with many extras. Lovely touch, chocolates, fruit other bits and pieces. Hot tub was well used by part of the family. Having 2 sitting rooms, it was good for the oldies (us) to get some quiet time until the kids found us. My son was met by owner and given a very warm welcome and shown how everything works. The handyman was around in the yard at times looking after the 2 horses so was available without being intrusive. My grand daughter enjoyed going to visit the horses in the morning. Thank you again Mr Wilson for extending or break by 1 day for us without any problems. We will recommend your house and your new one on the site looks stunning, we might try it next time.Thank you"

"We are a group of 3 families getting together, 6 adults and 6 children. The spacious accommodation was fabulous for all , very flexible sleeping arrangements and very well equipped for children. Highlights include the garden, it was amazing with everything the children ranging from 1 years, to 13 years could hope for and had gorgeous views for the parents to enjoy. The very large atrium of the hose was great for meals together and plenty of places to sit as a whole group. There was also another living room upstairs to get away to if you felt like it. The house was warm being underfloor heated throughout. We thoroughly enjoy our stay and would highly recommend this accommodation. The owners were friendly and helpful and easy to contact if needed, not that we did as everything worked perfectly."

"Over Blairish Cottage is the perfect place for a wonderful holiday in central Scotland. The location of the cottage is very private with stunning views but still within a short drive (10-40 minutes) there are so many opportunities not only for lovely river, wood, loch and mountain walks but also for visiting sights like the Dewar's distillery, castle Menzies, the Scottish Crannog Centre, etc.The cottage itself is full of character and the eye for detail gives the cottage just that little extra to set it apart from others, the welcoming package even included treats for the dog.Our favourite place in the cottage has to be the small conservatory at the front of the cottage. We started every day in the conservatory enjoying not only our breakfast but also the amazing views and the wildlife."
