"Spotlessly clean. More spacious than it looks. Comfortable (although as restless sleepers we would have preferred / slept better in a king sized bed). Large enclosed garden was perfect for our dog, who thankfully didn't bark when horses went past. It would have been helpful to have a map of the local area with walks marked (there were some notes in the visitors welcome book but it wasn't clear if you could walk on the estate itself). As you leave the private road for which the cottage was gatehouse, turn right and walk for just a few minutes to get to quiet woodland walks opposite and behind the white church. Saw deer, rabbits, hares and what I think were buzzards. Didn't see sheep or cows near the cottage but don't know if animals are moved around the farm. A little unusual to be left a delicious lemon drizzle cake, and flowers from the garden, instead of the usual basics of bread and milk but not complaining! There is a shop in the village close by - a 10-15 min walk. Shower noisy but worked fine, not just a trickle - though water takes a while to drain. Wifi worked too and, thankfully, so did the TV, with just a bit of occasional picture disturbance (critically, nothing to spoil my partner's enjoyment of the World Cup!). We would certainly recommend it and hope to stay here again."

"Fantastic accommodation and location. Extremely comfortable with a very well equipped kitchen. One of the best cottages we have stayed in. We were aware it was remote with regards to shops so stocked up at a supermarket en route... so local amenities were not an issue. The cottage is in a superb location to visit the local attractions we visited Benmore gardens , Pucks Glen which is just over the road. Ostel bay is a must !!! Secluded beach need to look it up on internet how to access it but very much worth it. Went to Inveraray... then a few miles up the road to Crarae gardens. We went to Tighnabruaich, Otter Ferry . We caught the ferry from Portavadie over to Tarbert which is quite a pretty little town ( didn’t take the car as town walking distance once you got off the ferry , about a half hour crossing ). We stocked up with further groceries from Morrison’s In Dunoon which is about half an hours drive away. So all in all wonderful place and I would have no problem in recommending highland cottage."

"We had a lovely week at 'S81398' cottage in the village of Borgue, nr Kirkcudbright, Scotland. The cottage was so homely and catered very well to our needs, the garden was dog friendly and our 2 cockerpoos loved the free range that they had in the enclosed garden which was really beautiful and relaxing. The hospitality of the owners was lovely they were so welcoming not only to us , but also to our son and family but to the dogs Sophie, and Ella nothing was to much trouble for them. They gave us advice on areas and places of interest where we could find amenities for our granddaughter to enjoy, also where we could take the dogs on the local beaches and forests which was really useful as it was our first time in the area. The food that was served at the local Borgue Hotel was good homestyle cooking and the service was homely, friendly and they welcomed us and our dogs.We would certainly love to return to the area real soon and to 'S81398'."

"A thoroughly enjoyable holiday in a beautiful, quiet, relaxing location. The cottage is comfortable, full of character and tastefully decorated. There was plenty of space for our group of 5. All the general equipment you could need is included - one of the better equipped kitchens I have stayed in.Although off the beaten track and 30 minutes from any semblance of extended civilisation, it was perfect for completely getting away from all the everyday stresses of life. Phone signal is minimal and the wifi was patchy in the cottage, but this in many ways was part of the charm. We loved the fact that there was a waterfall and mountain literally opposite the cottage. And there are so many other beautiful places to visit and enjoy in the area, making this a great place to base yourselves for a week."

"S59421 is an old gate house cottage in a quiet location in the Fife countryside, but only a 10 mins walk to the nearest village with shops. We chose it for its location and because they allowed a dog to stay for our 2 week booking. We arrived in wintery conditions, snow on the ground and very cold. Unfortunately the heating was not on, it took 24 hours to warm the old cottage. There was a very nice homemade baked lemon drizzle cake along with bread, tea and coffee to welcome us. The log burning stove in the sitting room was lovely and cosy, with plenty of logs in the outdoor store to burn. The washing machine was very helpful during our 2 week stay, and an iron was provided but no ironing board? We enjoyed walks with Sebastian our standard poodle on the farm area and surrounding woods."
