"Stunning location & very tranquil. Weather was on our side and we had a relaxing few days in a lovely cottage. The only minor niggles were, the bed in the 2nd double was totally uncomfortable and you could feel every spring with every turn. Our bed, on the other hand, in the 1st double was so comfy it was unreal! The big disappointment was the lack of any kind of decent welcome pack. A bottle of wine and a pint of milk doesn't really send out a 'Welcome' message when people have travelled a long way - over 6 hours! We stay at a lot of cottages around the UK and always receive a welcome pack ranging from adequate to amazing - this one was poor at best. Yes there were some bits in the cupboards but they appeared to be what has been left by previous holiday makers. Maybe think about a small loaf, some ham, cheese or jam, milk, coffee & t-bags and a pack of biscuits. It doesn't cost a lot but goes a long way when you've travelled so far and it might be tto late to pick anything up - especially when the location is so rural.Overall, the cottage was lovely and had a real charm but the 2 things mentioned above would most certainly add a little extra to the experience!"

"Lovely traditional cottage, very close to Sandsend and Whitby. Plenty of room for 4 adults and 2 children, the kitchen was well equiped and the stove kept us comfortable in the evenings. We had a fire most evenings and the included logs and coal lasted the week. The heater didn't work in the twin room, however, a portable radiator had been put in there, and to be honest, kept that room warmer than the heater in the small double room did. We had a really lovely time at the cottage, and once everywhere was warm, it was great. Obviously as a older property, it can take a while for the building to warm through, but after a good fire on Friday, the fire on Saturday just kept it topped up.The pub next door only seemed to be open and serving food Fri-Sun, perfect for our late arrival on Friday night. Food was fantastic though and very homely. Our daughter wasn't keen on their childrens menu so they changed it slightly for her which she thought was great! My brother and wife stayed in the smaller cottage next door for the weekend and it was great to be able to be together without having to rent a huge property for 8 when we only needed it for the weekend."

"The cottage is in a glorious, relaxing setting. Great views, spacious rooms. A very enjoyable stay and a great base to explore the local dales. The garden was secure and great to sit in with our dogs. The cottage has the potential to be the most amazing place but we felt it was let down by the fit and finish of the property. Door handles fell of at will, skirting boards were ill fitting and not well secured. The laminate flooring in the ensuite toilet had huge gaps between the boards. The kitchen could have done with a thorough clean and wasn't as well equipped as it might have been for a cottage that sleeps 6. We thought the lighting could have been better as the ceiling lights in many rooms had been removed and replaced with lamps. Decoration wasn't the best. This all sounds a little negative, but with a little more care and attention to detail, the cottage would be amazing"

"Loved staying here! It is quite far out to the local shops however you can grab bits as you drive in from other local villages, we went to the spar/petrol station and stocked up. Also took some cool bags! There was a welcome basket tea/coffee/sugar/milk but we went through this pretty quickly due to there been six of us. Cottage is gorgeous! Have to agree with a different review that bits need tweaking, floorboards and door handles falling off. Overall though such a lovely place to stay and I’d go back. So peaceful and miss the birds and sheep! Some wonderful walks near by and explored lots of the dales. Enjoyed driving around the mountains and taking in the scenery. Really didn’t want to leave. Also our doggies loved it here!"

"Beautiful cottage in a stunning location. We found it clean and well prepared and and nice goodies as a welcome, especially the wine !Kitchen was well equipped but it was a bit of a nuisance that the dishwasher was in the utility room. Lounge was very comfy and good to have a good size TV screen. Being of a certain age and a little stiff in the joints would have really appreciated a toilet downstairs. Also not sure about the bath in the bedroom though it was a bit of a novelty at first. Although location was stunning the narrow roads did become a bit trying after 4 days but we wanted remote so must not complain too much. Overall was a very nice place and we would consider returning."
