Things to do on a Woolacombe cottage holiday

Woolacombe’s biggest draw is its pristine beach. This three-mile strip of gorgeous sandy coastline is a popular spot for surfers and water sports enthusiasts. Like other resorts on the South Coast, Woolacombe is visited by surfers all year round. If you’re into surfing – or looking to hire a board and give it a go – Woolacombe Surf Centre is definitely worth stopping by.

While you could spend your holiday riding the waves, Woolacombe has plenty more going on out of the water too, making it a great choice for a family holiday. The whole region boasts some stunning natural landmarks, for instance, you could head out by boat to Lundy Island, a dramatic spot inhabited by all sorts of wildlife, including grey seals that you can see all year round.

Woolacombe and the surrounding area offers tourist attractions galore, including Combe Martin Wildlife and Dinosaur Park and Borough Farm, where you can catch a falconry show. For thrill-seekers who get bored of ‘hanging ten,’ there’s the Milky Way Adventure Park, full of white-knuckle rides and located in the nearby town of Bideford.

About Woolacombe

What our customers are saying about our holiday cottages in woolacombe to rent.

"Lovely cottage in a nice location. Nice views and very quiet down a long good quality track (concrete road more than track). Tasty cream tea was waiting for us on arrival which is a nice touch! Cottage had everything you need but could do with maybe having a few kitchen extras such as foil and cling film available.Only negatives would be: - mattress in double bed was seriously uncomfortable as you could feel each and every spring - water tank in loft was constantly gurgling and bubbling away for some reason (shared between the cottages?). Not a problem for us as we only used the other 2 bedrooms but the second twin room had the tank immediately above it and it would probably have been too noisy for any of us to have slept in that room as a consequence Having said that, we would still definitely return as we had a great and relaxing week in North Devon"

"We had a wonderful week here. We arrived on the Saturday of the Easter weekend and our 3 children were very kindly given easter eggs by Susanne. We were also welcomed with a beautiful cream tea and also freshly laid eggs and a bottle of wine. It's a very cosy place to spend a week and we had everything we needed. The mobile signal is non existent but it isn't that much of a problem as there is Wi-Fi. Everything is spotlessy clean and there are jigsaws (managed to complete a 1000 piece one - great to keep the kids off their phones!) and plenty of books. Its near the wonderful beaches of Woolacombe and Saunton Sands and although the weather wasn't amazing, we still enjoyed lovely walks. We would recommend the walk to the Watersmeet National Trust tea house from Lynmouth. Fantastic place and would love to come again!"

"We had a great week at S19256. The location is ideal for the beaches at Woolacombe, Ilfracombe and Croyde. There is also a lot to do in the area away from the beach but we never had to drive more than about 20 minutes. Highly recommend the National Trust property at Arlington Court (20 mins by car from Smithy). Our 3 year old loved all the open green space around S19256 and the childrens' play area, and the fact that there were other children staying in other cottages. The cottage itself was clean, warm and fairly well equipped. The owners were very friendly and there was a cake (and mini eggs!) waiting for us on arrival."

"My husband and I spent our Honeymoon for 4 nights in Jenson Cottage in North Devon. The holiday was perfect and exactly what we wanted. The cottage was tucked away from the more busy areas which made it the perfect place to relax in peace. The owner made us feel very welcome in her cottage and letting us know that if there was any problems, to contact her straight away. She even left us some goodies in the fridge which was very welcomed after a very long road trip from Hertfordshire. I really feel like I am in a different world in this area and I can not wait to return back to the cottage."

"We had a very relaxing stay. The property is lovely, very spacious with splendid views. The owner is more than helpful & the milk, biscuits coffee etc. is a nice touch.Although the access road is very bad, you can get to the property easily through the holiday park so no problem. The only comment I would make is that the property is actually a second floor apartment not a first floor as described so there were a lot more stairs than we anticipated - no real problem for us but some may struggle? It was worth every step for the views though!"
