Not only is Winchelsea close to the sea, but it is also found within the High Weald AONB; which offers some of the most gorgeous countryside the UK has to offer. The town itself has a rich history as it was once a major hub during medieval times. The town is laid out in a grid pattern which is fairly rare in England, and you can take tours of the famous stone-vaulted cellars. It’s a lovely place for a UK holiday.

The McDermotts - verified booking
"What a wonderful Place! The whole property is absolutely pristine and equipped with every conceivable amenity. You have obviously put a huge amount of thought into what to provide for your guests and this shines through in every single room! The homely touches are delightful and we felt welcome and confortable from the moment we arrived. Forget Me Not is clearly a labour of love and there is a genuine warmth throughout the property. The children loved the puppy dog in their room and were bery appreciative of the welcome sweets. We all loved the lemon drizzle cake and thought the welcome groceries were a lovely touch. Thank you for a wondeful week in your beautiful property, we hope to return"

"We have had a wonderful stay at Forget Me Not. The bungalow is perfect - you have provided everything that we could possibly need. It was a joy to find it so spotlessly clean. We have enjoyed several local walks and been to may of the local pubs and restaurants, which are generally to be recommended. Just wanted to say thank you for the Welcome Package! The cake was delicious & the milk & mint chocolates very much appreciated. We had a lovely time! Our week here has passed by far too quickly!"

"Cordwainers was a lovely house set on the edge of the hill looking towards Rye, so the views were wonderful. We enjoyed dinner at the New Inn - they couldn't do enough to make us welcome, and the food was excellent. St Thomas' church was also worth a visit as the stained glass windows are beautiful, and we paid our respects to Spike Milligan whose grave is in the churchyard. Only a 20 minute drive to Hastings where there is a Morrison's supermarket and an Aldi. We would certainly recommend ..."

"Dear Carol & Graham, I just want to thank you for a wonderful stay. The cottage is outstanding, with a lot of thought going into everything. The welcome package was again wonderful, the homemade cake was delicious. The cottage has been fabulous. The beds were so comfortable, everything is just fabulous, so much so I almost cried when I entered as I was truly not expecting anything so spectacular. We have had a wonderful stay and hope that we will return again soon. Thank you both so much."

"we had a great time in Winchelsea. Our family consisted of a couple of grandparents, daughter, son in law , and two teenaged boys. The house proved to be ideal. - very spacious, clean and well, equipped and with great views. We visited Dover Castle , Battle of Hastings site and the local beaches although the town of Hastings turned out to be a bit of a disappointment. Winchelsea was an interesting village and we had a good dinner at the New Inn. Would definitely recommend Cordwainers"
