"Mike and Bella greeted us at the property and showed us around, they are lovely people and run the shop next door. S13741 has a log fire and central heating, we needed both as the weather took a turn for the worst and the living room took a while to heat up. The property is very spacious so there was plenty of room for four of us. The kitchen was well equipped and leads out onto a very large patio and garden area which would be nice in the summer in the nice weather. Upstairs both bedrooms have sloping ceilings and were clean and comfortable. The bathroom was nice but the water was tepid and we should have asked about it but we were lazy and just put up with it. We regularly popped next door to buy supplies and we did pop to the Hook and Glove restaurant which Bella recommended (no.1 out of 210 restaurants around Salisbury) which was had lovely food but perhaps be classed as homely looking (to us Town folk). We enjoyed our holiday and S13741 was worth the money we paid. I would say the only drawback is that it is very rural and if you wanted more than just a shop next door ie. a town then this is not for you."

"Very nice cozy retreat for our January holiday. The owners were very friendly and helpful and the cottage was clean, comfortable and well equipped in close proximity to the White Horse and only about five minutes' drive to local supermarkets & pub. Ancient monuments such as Stonehenge & Avebury are only 30-45 minutes away as is Lacock Abbey & the fascinating photography museum. National Trust membership is well worthwhile when exploring this area as it can save a significant amount of money. When we arrived the cottage was very cold although it warmed up very quickly and stayed warm once the heating had been on for a while. We felt that if the owners had put the heating on an hour or so before we arrived it would have felt much more welcoming.WiFi would also have been a nice touch as, although we wanted to get away from everything, the ability to check emails & research the area would have been useful. These two issues aside, I would very much recommend this cottage."

"Cottage is cosy and comfortable but compact. Owners were charming and very helpful. I have had cottage holidays since 1987 - two or three per year so I know what to expect. This is the first time a deposit has been requested and whilst it was returned, it is not a good selling point to ask for one. There were no books, games or puzzles for wet days; the information sheet had not been completed. Lots of info given verbally on arrival but you can't possibly remember it all. Access to wifi would be a good selling point. Parents should know that whilst the garden is at the back of the cottage it is not accessible without walking through the farm yard. This may be a factor for families who would want to supervise their children. The owners were very kind to us but I feel they would benefit from some advice. This is a holiday cottage and not a long term let."

"Perfect for a family.Lovely, helpful owners run a farm shop nearby and provide cake and home brewed cider. The house is well set up, functional and was in the right location for us. Very close to shops and takeaways.Everything works and is in a good state of repair. Good Wifi, good kitchen with good size fridge, freezer and washing machine.Minor niggles would be that the decor is rather dated, with lots of dusty ornaments and old fashioned furnishings but it's perfectly functional and suited our needs. Two of the the bedroom doors are sliding type and don't fit well, so they would provide limited privacy if that were needed.Other niggles worth noting: The garden is not enclosed (not suitable for loose dogs or small kids). There is no dryer. A stair gate is provided but a spanner is necessary for it to be fitted safely. Dogs are only allowed downstairs."

"Generally well equipped, but there were no egg cups and the tin opener didn't work. However, the owners provided these when we asked. The communal washing machine was faulty but the owners arranged for it to be repaired and offered the use of their own in the meanwhile. Fridge very small. Apart from the kitchen surfaces and the visible parts of the floors/carpets, the whole cottage was very dusty. A good shower. Boiler provided plenty of hot water and central heating worked well. A few extra hooks or a towel rail in the bathroom would be useful. The cottage has no wifi coverage and is in an area where this is practically non-existent, which could be a disadvantage for some. The owners were very helpful and obliging."
