"Having stayed in many cottages before, including ones on working farms, we were underwhelmed with this one.Situated in a shabby concrete slab area, the majority of the view including the outdoor space with its unmaintained furniture, looked out onto what appeared to be almost derelict buildings. There was a small area of countryside view .The owner was pleasant on arrival, although was in his pyjamas at 6.20pm. After handing over the £50 in lieu of any breakage, the short introduction ended with the vacuum cleaner being pointed out, where we promptly informed that the property was to be left as we found it. The decoration of the property and the bathroom and bedrooms were clean enough, but the furnishings in the living area were drab. New pads in the cushions would help as would a new washing up sponge, which cost me pence to replace!!Other niggles included ;Tacky feel to chairs and kitchen doors Faulty hot water tapBeds cramped if over 6 feet tall Toilet brush contained remnants of previous use Lack of a welcome pack/up to date literature/places of interest/places to eat etc. Good job only 3 guests as only enough cereal bowls for 3.Come on owners, a little more time and effort would do this property some good and make the customer, because that is what we are, happy. Perhaps a review of the property could help them realise this. The final impression we had was that this was a purely money making exercise, as before we had pulled away in the car, the owner was in there preparing for the next unsuspecting "guests"."

"We were house hunting, not on holiday, and had an extended stay out of convenience, in the low season. There were no frills, no welcoming scones and milk etc. No Wifi ( We should have checked that before!) which cost us a lot on paying for added data on my phone. The laundry room and machines were dirty and the washer seemed to only spin slowly. The owners let us change our sheets etc. each Saturday ourselves and were not proactive in volunteering to do it for us or to clean the cottage, so we did it. We put our rubbish in the bins provided and sorted the recycling but it was overflowing and no-one helped us to take it to the collection point, although the owner had said his s wife would help with that. There was minimal equipment, not even a wooden spoon for stirring the soup, and the owners demanded 50 pounds deposit which they returned to us after their inspection at the end of the stay... Not a pleasant feeling! Opening and closing the farm gate was difficult as the heavy gate had to be lifted to fit the bolt, so don't book this if you are puny. The owners and workers on the farm were generally very friendly but they were busy with their farm work and renovation of the second cottage; maybe in future they may be more hospitable. We have stayed in many self catering cottages in England. This was certainly warm and spacious enough but our overall feeling is that we wished we we had booked somewhere else."

"We had a fantastic week at S13747. Lovely picture perfect village. Cottage is bolted onto the side of the Longs Arms Pub. Easy to find and park. Upon arrival cottage was found to be clean and tidy. Staff from the pub were great and provided some basics (Milk, Bread and Butter). Cottage has open plan kitchen / living room but plenty of space. Kitchen has cooker, fridge, washing machine and dryer, so well equipped. It was also well stocked with plates, cups etc, but if you needed anything you could just ask the staff in the pub kitchen, who were very helpful. Two good sized bedrooms both with toilet and shower. Direct access to the pub beer garden which was huge and had a little play area. A bonus was that pub served great food and drink and all the locals were very chatty and friendly. Only negatives were the stairs to one of the rooms were of the spiral type and very steep and narrow. Also the showers were on the small size (I’m ‘bigger built’ and struggled to get in). Would highly recommend as a base to explore with Longleat, Avebury, Stonehenge and Bath about 30 minute drive. Thanks for a great week."

"Very nice cozy retreat for our January holiday. The owners were very friendly and helpful and the cottage was clean, comfortable and well equipped in close proximity to the White Horse and only about five minutes' drive to local supermarkets & pub. Ancient monuments such as Stonehenge & Avebury are only 30-45 minutes away as is Lacock Abbey & the fascinating photography museum. National Trust membership is well worthwhile when exploring this area as it can save a significant amount of money. When we arrived the cottage was very cold although it warmed up very quickly and stayed warm once the heating had been on for a while. We felt that if the owners had put the heating on an hour or so before we arrived it would have felt much more welcoming.WiFi would also have been a nice touch as, although we wanted to get away from everything, the ability to check emails & research the area would have been useful. These two issues aside, I would very much recommend this cottage."

"Cottage is cosy and comfortable but compact. Owners were charming and very helpful. I have had cottage holidays since 1987 - two or three per year so I know what to expect. This is the first time a deposit has been requested and whilst it was returned, it is not a good selling point to ask for one. There were no books, games or puzzles for wet days; the information sheet had not been completed. Lots of info given verbally on arrival but you can't possibly remember it all. Access to wifi would be a good selling point. Parents should know that whilst the garden is at the back of the cottage it is not accessible without walking through the farm yard. This may be a factor for families who would want to supervise their children. The owners were very kind to us but I feel they would benefit from some advice. This is a holiday cottage and not a long term let."
