"One of the few premises I have been in where the photographs on-line don't do justice to the size of this property. Bright, comfortable and well fitted, and impressive interior design. The hamper provided was also very good.Staff on the estate were friendly, helpful and cheerful. Food in the restaurant was very good, and the cafe was very pleasantLoss of a star for the following issues. We rarely felt warm in the bathroom, and adjustment of the temperature was too complex for this technophobe. Also, as the shower has an open end, it ***** in cold air, so it wasn't a comfortable experience. First use of it, on full, resulted in flooding part of the bathroom. It therefore wasn't possible to have it on full.I felt the heavy shutter screen provided to give some privacy across the front door, could be considered a hazard in the event of attempting to escape a fire. Wouldn't vertical blinds be better? They can also be drawn across. One of the exterior lights, at the bathroom end, is low and I banged my head on it. The two either side of the front door are higher, so why not this one? Finally, the A5 road is alongside, and although it did not affect our sleep I can see that in summer, sat on the terrace the noise could intrude."

"Yes the furniture was comfortable but the heating system is antiquated and needs seriously updating. The heater in the en suite was not working and the owner was completely unconcerned when we phoned to report the fact. There is no instruction book for the cooker. The cottage appears unloved and uncared for. The oven was dirty and the cottage needs a thorough spring clean. There was no access to the back yard where a gutter or overflow was dripping badly in heavy rain. The information book in the sitting room is out of date and we were extremely disappointed to discover when we phoned the owner to check that there were no recycling facilities available. We are frankly amazed that Sykes are prepared to tolerate this. In the end we brought the recycling home with us. We do not support putting clean recyclable material in the general rubbish and are surprised that you do. I await your comments before I consider booking with your organisation again."

"I think that people would like to know that. The information advertised on the Sykes website regarding pets was useful i.e that dogs must be kept on a lead when outside S106011 as the owners have livestock and also that pets should be kept off the furniture. Cottage was in a beautiful, peaceful location and was decorated to a very high standard. It was exceptionally clean upon arrival and the little things provided for our dog was very handy i.e the fluffy dog blanket and towel and the fresh water in a bowl that was left out for our arrival. Cottage has lovely views across the countryside and the owners were very friendly and told us a lot of helpful information about the local area. Cottage is close to several lovely towns. Would definately recommend."

"The cottage was in a good location for walkers. It was warm and comfortable. However, it was let down by a number of niggling little issues. The living area was very dark and inadequately lit making it difficult to read in the evening. There was only one bedside light in the double bedroom. Only one bin liner was provided for the rubbish and there seemed to be little attempt to encourage recycling. The cottage was not as clean as it could have been.Poor selection of local up to date guides provided. With hindsight, we feel that it is probablly better to book a cottage where the owners are on site and able to monitor quality. This cottage appeared to be run by a property management company and the quality suffered."

"Lots of good walks or cycling routes. As I was holidaying on my own I very much appreciated the friendliness of the owners who are more than willing to give help or information if needed. The gated entrance to the drive (zapper provided) was a bonus. S106011 was refurbished in 2017 and the kitchen and bathroom are especially well fitted and equipped. A good heating system (not noisy) or log fire keeps you warm on cooler days. I really enjoyed watching the antics of the horses in the nearby field as well as seeing the buzzard family who nest nearby. I have stayed in a number of different cottages over the years and I would rate this one as excellent. Definitely on the list of cottages to return to."
