"A lovely location, with great views over the Tamar valley, although you inevitably pay a small price for being in such a beautiful setting - the nearest village is a good 15 min drive away through some very small country lanes. However the nearest Village (B. Alston) is better equipped than most with a train station, 3 village stores and a butchers. The cottage was spotless - we could not fault the cleanliness in any way - and very well-equipped. There is a communal pool which our children loved. All rental cottages have quirks - S19573's is that the tumble dryer and freezer were across the drive in an outhouse; this was not an issue for our short stay in summer. The only real negative we could think of is that the cottage has no attached garden. Even this has been considered, with a separate section of the garden (complete with BBQ and summerhouse), allocated to the cottage. This suited us fine, but had we brought our dog the lack of an attached garden could have been an issue. Would definitely come again."

"Pros:The cottage was cosy and beautiful and the beds were really comfortable. It was also really lovely to find a cake, pint of milk and tea provided on our arrival; a lovely touch. Cons:A previous reviewer mentioned about the shared access: the neighbour was friendly and not at all intrusive but the gates to the side of the property and at the top of the garden were regularly left open. This wasn’t a problem for us but I can see how this might be an issue for someone with a dog. However, the cat droppings were an issue. Even upon arrival, the garden was littered with droppings. Despite cleaning the shoes, rackets and balls under the outside tap, there was still a lingering smell left in the kitchen when we bought the items in. As a result, we had to ask the children not to use the garden which was a real shame. This is why we wouldn’t stay again."

"We found the accommodation very comfortable for a family of six including grandparents who had their wn bathroom. The house was well equipped and we enjoyed the garden and barbecue. When it was cooler we enjoyed the log burner. We felt that the cleanliness was just acceptable. The house needed an extensive deep clean as there was long standing dirt in some areas. However, it was fairly clean on the surface. The house also smelt extremely damp. This may be a problem in coastal locations but we felt it needed to be aired and that the issue was particularly acute in the kitchen cupboards, meaning that we had to wash everything befor using it. Perhaps the cupboards are not properly sealed so damp from the floor or walls permeates?"

"Fantastic holiday home. Clean and well equipped for a large family or friends. Great views of the yachts in the marina from the balconys? We had fantastic weather and made use of the passenger ferry which is a short walk from the house and Plymouth town centre is a short walk from the Barbican the other side of the harbour. There is a small beach which is a short drive away, and a pebble beach across the road. Water sports close by, which didn't use. For any park runners, there is a Parkrun which is a half hour drive away in plymvalley park. Great communication with Bridget the owner, she was very welcoming and very helpful. Would definitely like to return."

"Our family of 3 had a great 4 night break staying at S19573. The hosts are very friendly and helpful. The cottage is very spacious for a family of 4 with the added benefit of the shared use of an outdoor heated pool as well as a private large garden with a barbeque area and views of the estuary. The pool kept our young teenager happy after a day of sightseeing. A large welcome chocolate sponge cake and flowers were a nice touch. There was also access to a large DVD library, 2 televisions, a large free standing bath and a well stocked kitchen including a dishwasher and washing machine."
