"It's been a few weeks since we spent our Easter holiday at S18995, and I've been meaning to find the time to write a few words about our experience. The cottage was a great base to explore the area. We live in Hull, so Devon and Cornwall are quite a long drive away. We easily visited places of interest local to the cottage and farther afield. For all intents and purposes the cottage is a new build within an existing barn structure, which is great. Everything being like a new home, but with the charm of an old building. That said the barn has been converted to a very high standard, and being from a construction background, I spent a lot of time admiring the quality of the joinery. The cottage had everything we could possibly need, and the welcome pack left by the owners was a very nice touch.Whilst the cottage is in a very rural landscape, within ten minutes you're in the centre of Bideford with all the shops and facilities you could possibly need. All in all we had a great time, and we would highly recommend a holiday there."

"Very lovely, comfy, cosy converted threshing barn. Katie gave us a warm welcome which was so lovey. Left scones, wine and a pint of milk for us on arrival (scones did not take long to go) and tasted amazing. There was nothing that we could want for in this property, everything had been so well thought about. There was a lovely wood burning stove which we made really good use of. Encouraged to pick fresh veg from the walled garden whilst we were there (which we did), which was brilliant as this is the first time we have ever experienced this in a holiday cottage. The furnishings/kitchen/bedrooms are of the highest standard and the double bed was the comfiest bed we have every slept in. Very peaceful and quiet and loved walking around the grounds, seeing the pheasants, deer and the hare go by. We were so sorry leave and we shall be booking this again as soon as we can. What a lovely place to stay, our No 1 holiday cottage."

"Perfect for large groups, well equipped with everything you need, comfortable, loads of space for everyone over the 4 levels, youngest at the top as the stairs are narrow but totally climbable and adventureous for kids, tv’s in all the rooms great for kids too and there is a bathroom and shower on the top floor so you don’t have to use the stairs in the night. We were two family groups including children and grandparents, and we never once felt crowded. The garden isn’t large but secure and big enough to bbq with a large outdoor seating area. You don’t need a large garden with all that beach on the doorstep anyway. Four walkable pubs of which a couple do takeaways and a hotel restaurant, Johns cafe and shop have everything you need. Welcoming from the start with the wine and scones, lots to do in the area or within short drives, a great place to stay and would recommend it totally."

"Beautiful location. Cottage had all we needed and the walled garden was just out of this world! So appreciated fresh vegetables on a daily basis. Staying early September, with no instructions on how to get the heaters in the property to work, the property was a little cold for my elderly parents. We did not seem to b3 able toget cold water out of the taps without running it for many minutes as I think the cold feed ran alongside the hot. This meant we had to put tap water in the fridge to get it to the required temperature.Lack of Internet was a real problem if you need to work and television reception was very poor.I would stay again tomorrow because the location was beautiful and a wonderful place to escape from the pressures of life in general. The vegetables in the walled garden were such an added bonus, any other problems in life just faded away!!"

"This was a lovely property, perfect for an out of season escape. Right on the Tarka trail you had unlimited walking and cycling right on your doorstep. It is large and detached and perfect for two people who want peace and quiet, with a bit of home comfort. I appreciated the hairdryer as I forgot my own. It’s a short walk to Bideford along the trail and the beautiful beach at Westward Ho! just 15 minutes drive. My only niggle was that the kitchen equipment was sparse and poor quality as is often the case with rental properties. If you want a fire the night you arrive bring your own kindling as they only provided three chunky logs and a couple of fire lighters which wasn’t enough to get the fire going. Also if you have fire gauntlets I’d bring them as I really missed mine! All in all a super break, with amazing weather in October."
