"Lovely clean and comfortable cottage. We stayed here with my parents, husband, 6yr old 4yr old and 11 month old. We had a few meals in The Anglers Arms pub which served delicious food and had great service. The house itself was lovely and the toy selection for the children was the best I’ve ever seen in a rental before. My 4yr old son was in heaven and went to bed every night with the oversized Chase pup. The only downsides for me personally were there was no mattress for the travel cot provided only the slightly padded base that was quite hard that came with the cot. This is the first time I’ve stayed in a rental before that didn’t have an additional mattress for the travel cot so this resulted in a few sleepless nights with my baby who usually sleeps through as she was so uncomfortable. Also there wasn’t a towel provided for her and the rest of us just had one large towel each. Thankfully I had brought one of my own for her so we were ok but everywhere else I have stayed they have provided a large and a small towel per person (including babies.) Also there was a lack of coat hangers and I had to take some from the kids bedroom but these are only very minor things and I am only mentioning them incase the owner wanted to improve on anything. A washing machine would also have been handy but it wasn’t the end of the world not to have one and I believe you could have used the one in the pub but we never did. Northumberland is a lovely place to holiday and we had some great days out. If you are travelling with young children a trip to The Whitehouse Farm Centre and The Alnwick Gardens and Castle is a must."

"The toilet in the downstairs bathroom could only be used by holding the toilet seat up and sitting sideways. The shower head upstairs needed to be deep cleaned before we could use it. There was no mirror in the double bedroom so used the single front bedroom which walls were in need of decorating. The step up and down from the landing into the single rooms were dangerous and the banister was coming away from the top of the stairs. When we booked the cottage our only stipulation was that the cottage took two small dogs and had an enclosed garden. The small stone walled back yard with no flowers is not a garden with the smell of overflowing bins. The lounge lamp no bulb or spare the ceiling light contained cobwebs and the microwave you could write your name on the dust on the top of it. As for spending quality time in the cottage we only had our breakfast on our knees in the lounge as the kitchen chairs were marked with whatever as was the back door and handle which we cleaned before we could open . We did not leave any of these details in the visitors book so as not to dishearten any future holidaymakers. We enjoyed our holiday in Northumberland as it was a well earned break but it could have been a great holiday if we had stayed in a welcoming home."

"We have spent many holidays in Rothbury, using it as a base to stock up on provisions and choosing to travel by car to explore the vast county of Northumbria.S80461 was an ideal location, being just on the outskirts of Rothbury, high on a hill with uninterrupted views of breathtaking countryside. It is set away from the farm itself and so is not overlooked.Janice is a welcoming host. She left us milk, tea, coffee and cake so that we were able to chill before starting our unpacking. She visited to welcome us and came to say goodbye at the end of our stay. The cottage itself exceeded our expectation. It was spotlessly clean, furnished to a high standard with new appliances and all the equipment we required.During our week we visited various parts of Hadrians Wall, a number of castles including Dunstanburgh, and Warkworth Castle and Hermitage, Brinkburn Priory down the road from the cottage, and Howick Hall. We also visited the harbour at Amble, and the beach at Durridge Bay.We ate out too and there are lots of lovely coffee shops, restaurants and pubs around. We particularly liked the Three Wheat Heads at Thopton and the tea room at Howick Hall."

"S34757 was a lovely place to stay.OVER All: The holiday let was freshly decorated and had everything and more that we could ever need.Decor: Really lovely. You could tell the owner put time and thought into this house.Living room: Big and comfortable with television.Dining room: Great and also had 2 large comfy chairs for watching television or listening to music. This became our 'go to' room.Kitchen: Fantastic. Everything I might need from good pans to white goods and all in great condition! So refreshing to find this.Equipment: We had a bit of trouble trying to turn the heating system off at the times we didn't need it. Also, we'd like to see the actual bath/shower freshened up a bit. Bathroom was fine.Cleanliness: Very clean.Location: Newbiggin-by-the-Sea. Perfect. The cottage was on a quiet street, Just a short walk from the beach front. Near shops and restaurants. We never had to drive more than 30 minutes to get to lovely Northumberland highlights for a day out. There's so much to see. We'd definitely recommend and we'll return some time."

"We had a lovely time at S59195, the cottage is lovely and in such a great location. We felt really comfortable there and settled in the minute we arrived. Everything was wonderful, but if I was nit-picking I would suggest the following:The key to the front door doesn't work from outside (I had to call the office and get someone to let me in as I only took that key with me). Not really a problem, but either need to mention it only locks from inside or repair the lock. The bathroom is lovely but a little cold - either a larger radiator or a large towel rail would be good in there. These are really only minor things that certainly didn't spoil our holiday - oh maybe just one more thing - if you could make sure the sun is shining if we visit again! xx"
