"Having arrived on Saturday we found no welcome pack, no soap in ether bathroom or kitchen sink, a very small TV which you could not read the writing from the sofa or two chairs. The internet was intermittent, both rotary washing lines need replacing as the lines are all hung down. The sofa and chairs were a joke, we both came home with stiff backs, you can feel the cushions going down at one side and feel the springs almost coming through the faux-leather seats. We thought the place was a bit grubby and had to wash some cups, plates and frying pans before use.The walls are very thin could hear everything from people next door, the kitchen table rocks when you put any hands or elbows down.Shortly after arriving we were asked by the farmer John for £20 cash for heating, having been advised by him that “it’s in the info online”. Upon checking, he was a month early; additional fees didn’t kick in until November. My husband is in remission and we thought a little holiday would do both of us some good, however, from 8am/8pm all we could hear every day was a petrol chainsaw until the day we left, it was just over the fence from where we were sat out. My husband was not so good some days and went to bed but was still unable to rest because of all the noise, we knew it was a farm and thought it would be cows or sheep not the constant noise of a chainsaw. My husband and I don’t normally write such critical things but it was not a cheap week; it was October and almost £450, having said all this the dogs liked the garden which was fully enclosed so did not worry about them getting out. We met the farmer’s daughter who was very nice and helpful. We would not be returning much to the farmers relief I’m sure. The shop is 4 miles away so nothing to do or see, the pubs in the area do very nice meals so that’s good news."

"A lovely location with very hospitable owners on site, Roy and Kath. Ideal for local walks from The Barn to Sabden and the Nick of Pendle or for longer walks to the summit of Pendle Hill. It is a two mile walk into Whalley, a lovely village with an Abbey worth visiting, cafes and pubs. We also walked from Barley up to the reservoirs as we had a pram.As it is a working sheep farm it is very interesting for any children to have contact with sheep, lambs and hens. The facilities at the Barn are spacious and very comfortable with seating areas outside and a BBQ which we made use of."

"We had an excellent stay at Bramble Cottage. Roy and Kath made us very welcome. It was a perfect cottage for our stay with our daughter, her husband two grandchildren and a dog. the kitchen facilities were perfect and the log burner a real treat. Set in the lovely Ribble Valley there are plenty walks around the farm and it is easy to get on the roads to all Lancashire attractions - we had a particularly great trip to Formby and the coast."

"Enjoyed a fantastic stay at Bramble Cottage. The hosts were very friendly and got the kids involved with the animals around the farm, which they loved. The location was beautiful and we enjoyed some lovely walks around the surrounding area. All in all we had a great family holiday and would thoroughly recommend Bramble Cottage to anyone looking to enjoy a peaceful holiday in a picturesque setting showing the best of Lancashire."

"The Barn had everything we needed although it would have been nice to have had a more secure garden for the dog. You couldn't let her off lead without watching her like a hawk. She's quite a large dog thankfully as a smaller breed would have gotten out very easily. The views were stunning! Unfortunately the weather was against us so we were unable to sit out in the garden to enjoy. Would recommend"
