"We had the absolute best time - S16542 delivered exactly what was needed; Peace & Quiet, a friendly welcome and all of the things you need to feel right at home. We had great fun watching the cows go up and down to pasture each day - don’t plan to drive anywhere between 6:15-6:35pm or these Freesian ladies will hold you up lol. S16542 offered itself exactly as per the photographs- space to relax as a group of 4 adults yet still maintained that warm cosy feeling you would expect with this property. If you want a ‘proper’ break from life, go here. You can get to local shops and supermarkets within a very short drive, it’s all practically on your doorstep should you need to top up. Pubs in Ashover & Bakewell were lovely for food and drinks, locals were super friendly and service wonderful. If I had to be constructive about 1 thing....? Perhaps some new garden furniture ... the wooden chairs did not fill me with confidence so I avoided them... I may have felt differently if I’d avoided a few more doughnuts in the past though!! Cows, chickens, a pony, a dog, a cat.... all great company too.Thankyou to the owners of S16542 for a wonderful stay - we feel lucky to have found this super place & will be back."

"Unfortunately we were disappointed with the cottage. The ‘enclosed’ garden is not enclosed if you have a dog, like we did it can easily wander onto the owners drive and out on to the road. The kitchen could do with a facelift and not the cleanest. The bedrooms were nice with comfortable beds and the showers and bath were clean. The living area was ok but the sofa was very uncomfortable and we had an influx of flies every night, which is no ones fault but very annoying!!! Don’t think you will be sitting in a nice country garden, I certainly wouldn’t have trusted the wooden chairs not to give way, there were a lot of stinging nettles, no bbq. Overall apart from the bedrooms and bathrooms the cottage was very tired and needed updating inside and certainly outside. Maybe I have set my standards too high but were so disappointed after looking forward to a well earned break after a couple of hard years, we actually left a day early. We informed the owners of our thoughts on the property and maybe improvements can be made for future guests as it could be a really beautiful cottage."

"Stayed here for a long weekend with my sister-in-law & her dog. We wanted to get away from it all catch up & just chill & here it was perfect. Our hosts Karen & her daughter Kate were really accommodating (they let us check in earlier than planned) and there was tea making facilities & homemade cake waiting for us on arrival. They took time to show us around the property & where everything was & said they would be happy to show us around the farm (a working beef farm) if we liked.Although we were only a party of 2 & a dog, it was really spacious (even if there had been 4 of us we would have been fine). It was great that both bedrooms were en-suite with showers - really practical. The lounge/kitchen/diner was also large & well equipped, but we were told just to ask if there was anything else we needed. Although we were quite happy we would have felt quite comfortable asking as Karen & Kate were very approachable & friendly. We would definitely come back & bring more of our family with us."

"A lovely, very clean and comfortable cottage. It was unfortunate that we had timed our visit with some building works and as the weather was also unkind we did not get out and about early. The kitchen was very clean and well equipped (egg cups would make a nice addition). The bed was comfortable and there was plenty of wardrobe space. As the weather was so poor, shrouding the countryside in mist, we missed seeing much of the Peak District! If we returned I would spend time exploring the immediate locality, across the bridge to Calver and the mill. I would also like to do the Curbar Edge walk again and this time see the views. We enjoyed a visit to Chatsworth House, a short drive away. On a nice day you could spend a whole day enjoying their facilities. The cottage is well situated for visiting a range of places in the Peak District."

"S16542 is a delightful, slightly quirky barn conversion. It is well equipped with everything you might need for your stay, whether you are fully self-catering or doing, as we did, a bit of cooking and a bit of eating out. There are plenty of pubs serving excellent food just a short drive from the cottage, not to mention a vending machine type farm shop at the bottom of the hill, to provide you with bread, milk, potatoes and other essentials. The living space is perfect for 4 people, with a kitchen diner and upstairs living room which provided plenty of room for us to follow our pursuits. The en-suite bathroom arrangements are slightly odd, with no doors between bathroom and bedroom area - you need to be good friends!Overall, it was a lovely place to stay. There is easy access to many local attractions and walks."
