"This is a very clean and comfortable, well equipped self catering cottage. Situated in an idyllic secluded location in Northumberland. Not a town or shop for miles around and yet everything we wanted, right on the doorstop. Lots of beautiful, unspoilt scenery, lovely walks, very few people and they were very friendly. A village pub less than 5 minutes walk for some wonderful evening meals. An excellent selection of single malt whiskies to round off the meal. Old Pulteney, Laphroaig, Lagavulin, Bunnahabhain, Tamnavulin to name but a few. The bird of prey centre is well worth a visit. The walk around Kielder water has some interesting sculptures. Hareshaw Linn Falls is a pleasant walk. The cottage owners were exceedingly friendly and welcoming and always on hand if anything were needed. For dark skies and star gazing, avoid the summer months, it doesn't get dark in mid June. This is a wonderful cottage owned by lovely people in a fabulous part of the country."

"Our stay at S44129 was superb. For the past few years we have been holidaying in Northumberland with our dogs and stayed in a fair few cottages. This has to be one of the best. Lovely views, close to many attractions, two good pubs on the doorstep and secure garden area for the dogs. The cottage offers all the amenities of home including a washer, dryer, dishwasher and the all important hair dryer! The beds are very comfortable and firm which I need for my back, lots of storage space. Bathroom has been well thought out, large bath and separate shower area. Love the decor of the whole place! The owner Mel is very friendly, welcoming and has good local knowledge for any walks away from Kielder Water and Forest Park. We absolutely loved the Kielder area and with so much more to explore, we are coming back next year and hopefully be staying in S44129."

"We throughly enjoyed our stay here, the cottage is beautiful very very clean and spacious the settees are very comfortable. The beds not so the double bed i did feel like i was falling out and ached when i got up in the morning. saying that it didn't and hasn't put us off from returning would really like it more if they had new mattresses. The people who own it and are attached to the cottage are very very nice, there was a beautiful lemon homemade cake plus fudge and a vase of flowers, which was a lovely and pleasant surprise. Our dogs enjoyed the paddock opposite and had a great run about. When we left i unfortunately left behind a number of items and the Lady met my husband in a service station that same night to hand over my belongings..I was really impressed with that and i cant thank them enough"

"We had a delightful holiday during the hottest week of the year so far. We left the car at home and travelled from Dumfries to Armathwaite by train. During the week it was wonderful to be able to travel from the Cottage to Carlisle in 30 minutes on the Carlisle-Settle Railway. We also travelled to Penrith on the Fellrunner bus (run by volunteers).Eden Stores in the village sold everyday goods alongside some truly delicious deli items. What a treat. It was pure co-incidence that the weekend we arrived was Armathwaite's Open Garden Weekend. When it was time to return home Robin (the owner) very kindly took us to the Station and told us should the train not arrive we could contact him and he would come and pick us up."

"S89451 suited my purposes exceptionally well. It is exceptionally well furnished and equipped and extremely comfortable, even in one of the coldest weeks of the winter. The owners have gone out of their way in their detailed and helpful instructions to make sure that visitors feel able to use the cottage as their own during their stay. If there is a complaint, which is more of a need to know rather than a complaint, there was no welcome pack or any of the other things such as hand soap, condiments, tea and coffee in the house. Toilet rolls, a dishcloth and scourer and washing up liquid was provided, but visitors need to take everything else."
