Holiday Cottages In Wales To Rent

Holiday Cottages in North Wales

Home to some of the most wonderfully wild scenery in the UK, crumbling castles, imposing manor houses and peppered with picturesque villages, North Wales is becoming an increasingly popular holiday destination for those in the know. However, despite its natural beauty, North Wales has got a lot more going on than you might think. Book one of our fabulous

North Wales Cottages

and you’ll find yourself just a short trip away from the world-famous Clwyd Theatre and the Italian-designed village of Portmeirion –. which visitors of a certain age might remember as the setting for TV’s ‘The Prisoner’. Thankfully, you won’ find any giant bubble-gum guard dogs there anymore!

With all the mountains, forests and fields in the region, it’s easy to forget that there’s also a coast to explore. Some of our

North Wales Cottages

are within easy reach of the area’s best beaches, such as Llandudno Bay and Abersoch Beach. In addition to being spectacularly clean, many beaches along the north coast offer the opportunity to spot seals, dolphins and – you guessed it – whales!

What’s good to do in North Wales?

Family holidays are easy in North Wales. A visit to Snowdonia is a must, offering amazing views from the highest peak in the National Park. While you might not want to climb it, it looks just as impressive from the ground, looming over the countryside. To see a bit more of the region, you might find that the kids would enjoy a trip on the Ffestiniog Railway, which calls in at Portmeirion. Conwy Castle is great fun for families, and Conwy itself is the site for a number of festivals throughout the year. You can book one of our

cottages in North Wales

to coincide with any events you might want to see.

North Wales is also establishing itself as something of a hotspot for foodies. Along the coast, you’ll find plenty of top-notch chippies, serving local catch as well as traditional chip-shop fare. Travel inland and you’ll discover some fabulous pubs and inns, such as the White Eagle Inn in Anglesey and the Glynne Arms in Hawarden. For special nights out, there are some superb restaurants, such as the Dining Room in Llandudno.

Whatever you want from your downtime, our extensive range of

cottages in North Wales

can help you achieve holiday heaven.

Holiday Cottages in South Wales

Famed for its song-filled valleys, outstanding beaches and pitted with the remains of the mining industry, booking one of our South Wales Cottages will introduce you to region of the UK that is thick with myth, legend and natural beauty. However, it’s not all about the great outdoors, and you can book one of our South Wales Cottages near Cardiff and enjoy first-class shopping, extraordinary restaurants and even watch a game the of rugby at the Cardiff Millennium Stadium. In short, there’s something for everyone in South Wales.

This beautiful and vibrant part of the country is easily accessible, and is connected to road and train lines from across the country. There’s the opportunity to catch a flight or you can drive across the Severn Bridge and experience the sense that you really are entering another country.

What are the must-see bits of South Wales?

Cardiff is a superb city and sports a distinctly bohemian atmosphere, and alongside the high-street giants, you’ll find independent boutique shops and some eclectic markets selling everything from handmade clothes to local meats and produce. The city also has a thriving music scene and, for younger visitors, don’t forget that it’s the home of the Doctor Who Experience! Using one of our holiday cottages in South Wales near Cardiff gives you access to the cosmopolitan side of this beautiful city.

For those who want to leave the hustle and bustle behind them, booking one of our holiday cottages in South Wales close to the Wye Valley should tick all the right boxes. The Wye Valley is one of Wales’ most dramatic and beautiful regions, teeming with wildlife and having been designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

With a rich history under its belt, South Wales is studded with castles, from the crumbling ramparts of Carreg Cennen to the seaside spectacle of Criccieth Castle. However, the jewel in the crown must be Caernarfon Castle, situated on the banks of the River Seiont and bristling with Edwardian style.

It’s easy to forget the South Wales is fringed with some exceptional beaches and, with the weather on your side, you could almost believe you were on the other side of the world! Be sure to check out Swansea’s beach and the spectacular stretch of sands that makes up Three Cliffs Bay in the Gower.

Claire - verified booking

"Arrived a little early so called owner to see if we could wait outside as no where open for a drink nearby. Said she would speak to husband on site but not to forget the £50 deposit!! Great start. We waited outside and were surprised to see it was pretty dull looking. Not bright like the online images. No garden or river nearby that we could see just a patio. We were allowed to check in early about 3.30pm. Inside was small open plan but looked nice and clean. Shown around and how.to use hot tub etc and deposit (no idea what this was for) was handed over.Well equipped kitchen and all ensuite rooms. But if it sleeps 6 why is there only 4 chairs in the lounge area which was tiny! We were.left milk and.fresh eggs which was a nice.touch...along with a manual telling us what the owners expected us to do on leaving.Nice central location for getting about. Nice Chinese in Abergele called wongs and a good takeaway too.Had a great week out and about. Especially recommend the Locked in Escape rooms in Abergele for a great evening.Hot tub was nice although I don't think it was working as it should be. Needed to be screened off was open to camp site and people going to farm no privacySadly we had a few niggles which could easily be sorted.Cat.....if you like to sleep.with windows open at night be prepared for the cat to come in a some early hour..both downstairs and upstairs on numerous occasions meaning being woken up by girls to get the cat out...okay if you like cats but if you scare.easily beware of this one.Wet room....cannot shower for.more than a minute as due to poor drainage and not enough slope water goes under door and floods bedroom...not good when your shoes are there.Cooker...no instructions on how to use oven as faded on dials.Windows no nets so had to keep curtains closed as.people.coming and going at farmhouse all the time...so not very private.Fridge....very noisy all the time new one needed.Tv nope useless and if you don't have a Now tv subscription you will need to get one or you're watching nothing. Broadband was okayish. No mobile signal at all.Cleaning...having read the folder on how to leave the property...can honestly say we have stopped in many cottages and have never been told we have to strip the beds...what are we actually paying for? Probably left it cleaner than when we arrived certainly cleaned up a lot of dead flies and spiders from behind beds.No sockets near any mirrors ladies.Found folder notes from owners quite short and.sharp came.across as unfriendly on paper.....quite nice in personCould not leave until property inspected....and then got deposit back.Although it's a great.location it needs some.tlcNot like the images as obvious paint and varnish has faded since taken. Oh and no bbq as shown in images on website.Would not go there again felt it overpriced for.what it is despite the location."

"I've stayed many times before at S21465. It's in an excellent location to literally escape to the country. The cottage is in a quiet and secluded spot on a hill and is equidistant between the Welsh borders and Welsh pool and the Snowdonia National Park and Cardigan Bay. If you're after some kind of holiday resort with lots of things to do on the door step, then this cottage would not be for you. There are no near neighbours so you will have the cottage and its immediate surrounds to yourself. It's a big and large house and has plenty of room for either family friends. The cottages offers a wonderfully quiet respite from all the stresses and strains of the modern world and it's fantastic for people who love to be immersed in the great outdoors. If you love rambling, mountain biking, bird-watching, running, cycling etc, then this would definitely be the perfect place for you. There's tonnes of walks in the surrounding area. It's an absolute walkers' paradise and the same could be said for fell runners too. There are a scattering of fairly vibrant small towns, all within around a 30 minute drive or so. Some may take up to an hour. Personal recommendations would include Welshpool, Clun, Bishop's Castle, Montgomery, Chirk, Dolgellau, Aberdyfi, Porthmadog, Portmeirion and the absolutely stunning Shrewsbury.Castles of note nearby include Powis Castle, Castell y Bere, Harlech Castle, Clun Castle and Montgomery Castle.Mountain bikers should head to the Coed-y-Brenin. There's also fantastic trails for walkers in there and lots of stunning waterfalls - Rhaeadr Mawddach and Pystyll Cain!A must on anyone's itinerary would be the Kerry Vale vineyard, near Churchstoke in Shropshire. It's opened within the last 8 years and is an English wine producing site. It has origins that date back to Roman times. There's also another English vineyard at Wroxeter, which still has impressive remains of a Roman settlement.Lake Vyrnwy is the nearest attraction, and is just a 10 minute drive away. There's a cafe and shop at the dam end of the lake and the Lake Vyrnwy Hotel offers more in the way of fine dining and so on. There's also plenty of pubs, cafes and restaurants in Dolgellau, Portmeirion and to a lesser extent in Bala and Welshpool. For a wide range of places to eat, people should head to Shrewsbury. There's also some charming tea rooms in Harlech and Aberdyfi."

"S21465 is somewhere I've stayed on quite a few occasions. It's certainly worth booking for the surrounding views of the unspoilt countryside. If you want quiet seclusion with no near neighbours then this is definitely the place for you.Bala, Welshpool and Dolgellau are three of the nearest towns. They're usually buzzing with people and tourists. There's plenty of pubs and cafes in all of them. Dolgellau is perhaps the nicest of them all with its pretty old brickwork and narrow ancient streets. It's very close to the Cardigan Bay coastline and the beaches and water are clean and safe. Welshpool is good for supermarkets and shops. There's a large Tescos which stocks most of what people will need. There's a large Aldi, B&M and Morrisons too. There's lakes aplenty near the cottage. Lake Vyrnwy is a 10 minute drive and has a shaded, flat road to walk along. Bala Lake is impressive as are many others close to the Cader Idris, near Dolgellau. The Coed-y-Brenin forest is fantastic for walks, mountain-biking and for all of its waterfalls (Pystyll Cain, Rhaeadr Mawddach).Walkers will have masses of trails to explore. It's a walkers' paradise around the cottage and beyond. Southern Snowdonia is perhaps one of the most beautiful parts of all of the United Kingdom. Sites well worth checking out are Castell y Bere, Harlech Castle, Mary Jones' Chapel and Home, Portmeirion, Porthmadog, Criccieth Castle, Aberdyfi, the Centre for Alternative Technology, Coed-y-Brenin Visitors' Centre and so on.But Shropshire is also a powerful draw and there's plenty of wonderful small towns to explore such as Clun, Bishop's Castle, Much Wenlock, Chirk and Ironbridge. Shrewsbury is always a delight and has masses of cafes, restaurants and shops to explore.People should also head to the ruins of the nearby ancient Roman town of Wroxeter - it was the subject of a Channel 4 show and a replica of a Roman villa was built there. A local hotel, near the local vineyard also does authentic Roman type banquets (The Wroxeter Hotel) or good afternoon teas - whichever you prefer. There's also a small local shop and post office in the nearest village of Llwydiarth. The owner is very pleasant and amenable. There's also a small petrol station there."

"The location the cottage the homeliness of it all was lovely apart from the fact the WiFi and the heating and hot water didn’t work. The heating was hard to work and wasn’t working at all which effected our time in the hot tub as it was too coldTo come back into the cottage, the hot tub was one of the main reasons we booked it and didn’t get to use it as we liked to. Was meant to be under floor heating but didn’t feel any benfit by it It also made us uncomfortable we lit the cooker to get heat in the kitchen. Had three mobile numbers to call of the owners of there was problems only one answered, the man was lovely but he didn’t have a clue how to work the heating which was really unhelpful. He just said sorry. The hot water was a bit clicking has to fiddle about a lot with the monitor to get it working. Was really dissipointed as we paid good money to stay there and not as much as a slight refund or anything back. Was a lovely place just bad facilities when it came to the heating and water and WiFi :( was sad about it! :( :("

"Great area for exploring the sandy beaches of SW Wales. The staff at the hotel (who run the cottage) are very friendly. The cottage advert left us assuming the swimming pool was at the cottages - it isn't - it's over half a mile away down a lane I thought was unsafe to walk along due to it being so narrow and having no footpath. Once there the pool is lovely. In today's connected world I would have expected wifi and mobile connectivity as a must have, especially considering the overall price of the rental. A minor issue was the crockery and cutlery - looks like mismatched leftovers from the hotel. Again with the price being paid, I would have expected a nice matching set for the number of guests. There was a note left on the window sill telling us about the welcome nibble and tipple, nice touch except there was no tipple, only a pack of welshcakes. What could have been a nice touch backfired. The settees has seen better days and ought to b replaced. Overall it's a nice cottage and these minor issues will not stop me returning."
