"Sadly, this is the first time, in over 5 years, that I have not been able to submit a wholly positive review. On arrival, I found the cleaning standards to be extremely poor:• There were tea/coffee stains on the woodwork (especially in the kitchen)• There was litter left in one of the bins• The toilet bowel had “debris” left on the sides• The fridge had not been cleaned properly• Some of the surfaces were “sticky” to the touch• The window panes were dirty and needed a good internal/external clean. There appeared to have been absolutely no attention to detail in the cleaning of the property generally.Whilst the cleaning standards can be addressed quite easily, the next issue, I fear, cannot:The soundproofing between the apartments appeared to be non-existent, throughout the first few nights I was constantly woken by the crying child/baby in the apartment below, eventually I invested in some ear-plugs (not something you expect to have to do on a holiday). It was possible to hear normal conversations, and I almost cheered when I heard the occupant telling his family that they were “going home today”.As the apartments all appear to have the same landlord, maybe they should consider a policy on the minimum ages of children, as the disturbed nights really did ruin the first half of my holiday. The WiFi bandwith struggles with streaming films, but is suitable for checking emails and general surfing of the web.On a positive note the apartment benefits from:• Good quality and comfortable furnishings throughout• An excellent shower over the bath (great after long hikes)• Modern quality appliances• Extremely efficient, and easy to operate, central heating throughout• Good parking• A fantastic TV and sound system• The provision of a selection of useful maps and games• A GREAT LOCATION.Regretfully though, due to the reasons stated in the first part of my review, I am unable to recommend Apartment 3 to potential customers."

"Excellent location.... That's we're the good news ends, very tired property which is fine for the price and that can be excused. But.... damp in upstairs on suite, (could smell it not see it) damp in main bathroom. Dado rail's were black with dust, as we're skirting boards, don't think master bedroom had been hoovered between guests as found toenails on bedroom floor, not 100% convinced master bedroom sheets had been changed, there was blood on the sheets on one of the beds in back bedroom. Heading down stairs I had to clean the bath before use, the none slip mat is covered in mould, in living room, dvd doesn't always work, carpet next to skirting boards is black, dog hairs throughout the property (I knew pets were allowed but in previous properties I've stayed in this has never been a problem). In dinning room my 2 year old spilt some milk so moped it up and left a clean line on the floor. Kitchen was actually fine but had to clean the glasses before use. This property is filthy dirty, would not recommend I appreciate its nearing the end of a season and would expect things to be tired but can not forgive being dirty. Nearly left after 1st day, glad I didn't enjoyed windomere and will return but not this property. To be honest can not complain about Cumbrian cottages or owner really as I made an error in not reporting issues immediately so they did not have a chance to rectify any issues and cleaned and muddled through myself, however if this is representative of their properties I will look elsewhere in future."

"Firstly, there is no garden! Absolutely nowhere the children could play. There is a small patio at the front which was overgrown most of the time we were there and is on the road, so not a useable space. The freezer was disgusting and I needed to defrost and disinfect before we could use it. The whole house needs a deep clean to get rid of the horrible smoky smell - we ended up frebreezing everything. The sofas just need replacing! Not enough batteries for the remotes, tiny TV and no spare light bulbs. Kitchen was well equipped although no salt or pepper etc! Mattresses were very old - the double was ok but the singles weren't very comfortable. Bathroom lock was broken as was the light pull - snapped completely in my son's hand. Not enough leg room on the toilet! Would be better with the fridge in the kitchen (or a fridge freezer) and a dishwasher! Plus wifi as you only get vodaphone signal here! Booked late so there wasn't much choice but thought it was expensive for what it was, especially considering what you could get instead in the local area. Property could be so much nicer with a little TLC and a small amount of money. Up for sale and feels as if the owners have given up with it a bit."

"The location is good for Windermere, but Bowness has more attractions. Cleaning appears to be an unknown concept the house was dirty. The tooth brush glass on the sink was dirty with someone else’s tooth paste, gritty surfaces and fridge, cobwebs and dust around ceiling and lights. We moved an arm chair when looking for one of the kids toys and the area under and behind had obviously not been cleaned for a long time. The cooker however had all the settings rubbed off, so the hob you could work out but the oven was difficult to use not knowing what temperature it was at etc. The WiFi hardly works. It must be noted that the staircases in the property are steep, which would need to be considered for young children, elderly etc. The little drive although tight for a big car was a god send as we were there for Easter and there was no street parking available. With a good clean, updated kitchen appliances and a different internet provider this could be an excellent place to stay."

"Loved the lodge location and how well kept it was! 1 minute walk from the lovely lakeside, nice calm area no noise from other lodges etc. Sadly the onsite resturant was absolutely awful we ate there first night and it was overpriced food at Wetherspoons quality, please avoid if you consider going there for anything more than a drink, partner and me found two hairs in our food we complained and they offered us a replacement meal I refused it as I didn't fancy being let down again and I just requested they maybe take it up with kitchen staff to take a bit more care in prepping food. Anyway besides that was a lovely stay, wish we could of walked into windermere or ambleside and probably would of managed but I was 34 weeks preg at the time of stay. Decking was lovely place to chill out and the whole lodge was child friendly enough for our 1 year old to roam free safely. We were blessed with hot weather which was perfect."
