"We have stayed in nearly 20 cottages in the UK from Northumberland to Dorset. Without doubt the one in the most attractive & enjoyable setting is S41686 in Worcestershire near Tenbury Wells.S41686 is a three-bedroomed cottage surrounded by 7 acres of grounds. Occupants have free access to all that space including play areas, woodland, pond, tree house, a "bothy" (farm labourer's hut)  and hammocks. There are four or five outdoor seating areas and a barbecue.  There is a quirky, highly personal feel to the surroundings reflecting the labour of love that the property obviously is.Indoors, on the ground floor, the cottage features a well-equipped kitchen (including an Aga), six- seater dining area, a very comfortable living room and a comfortable double bedroom. There is a bathroom including a bath and separate shower. Upstairs there is a double bedroom, twin room and (tiny) toilet. Each room  continues the individualistic theme of the entire site.S41686 cottage housed 5 people (and a terrier!) very comfortably and warmly. We were welcomed  personally by the owner Eleanor with a smile and a welcome hamper including a delicious home-made cake. But the real emphasis-and the reason I would  unhesitatingly recommend S41686, is the beautiful surroundings  . Long Cottage is almost half a mile off any road. It is very isolated and commands a panoramic view of the beautiful local countryside. If you want hustle & bustle I suggest you look elsewhere! You are however within twenty-odd miles of Hereford, Worcester, Hay-on-Wye, Leominster and Ludlow. Tenbury Wells and Eastnor Castle are much nearer. Our party included two teenagers and within 15 miles drive we were able to take them to West Midlands Safari Park and the Time Machine Museum in nearby Bromyard. The ground floor bedroom was ideal for the 87 year old in the party. We were not blessed with good weather or we would have undoubtedly spent more time in the grounds. To prove how much we liked the place, we have already booked a return visit- less that a week after leaving! Do yourselves a favour- visit  S41686 before it gets too famous. You won't regret it!"

"I have given 3 stars, this is possibly a little unfair and due in large part due to circumstances at the time. The cottage was of of a very high standard, but not ideally set up for rental (see detail later). My main reason for giving 3 stars was that the owners had building work going on in the next door cottage. The builders were under the understanding that they could enter our cottage garden to enable building works. Working from our garden on the Monday until we complained to Snaptrip on the Monday. The builders also asked if a water company worker could enter the garden on our final day. We felt our privacy was disrupted. The builders arrived at 8:00 am throughout the week and started work shortly afterwards, resulting in loud drilling banging and scraping sounds, amongst others. The first I knew about the building works was when the housekeeper described how to find the cottage. Had I known in advance I would not have booked the cottage. I felt the owners should have warned us out of courtesy. The cottage was not well set up for rental. The decor and fitting were of high quality, but had limestone tiling in the kitchen and dining rooms, along with wooden floors, both of which needed to be wiped immediately if there were any spillages. There were no coffe tables in the lounge. Drinks could only be put on the floor, a recipe for disaster. I had the embarrassed to be put into the position of knocking over a drink stating the carpet, which we could not clean up adequately. I would never wish to cause damage to anyone else's property.I would like to say that the cottage, once building works have finished will be very peaceful and set in a lovely village in beautiful countryside. Despite my reservations about set up of the cottage it is a very nice cottage."

"Very nice cosy cottage styled house in a small village location. The house was clean and reasonably well maintained, a few very minor issues. The house is fitted with good quality appliances (washing machine said to be temperamental, we didn't use it) and furniture is all in good condition. Bedrooms are all clean and beds and bedding very comfortable. Plenty of wardrobe/storage space. Bathrooms have electric showers, although the water pressure is not brilliant, they are adequate. There is a bath in the ground floor bathroom. The house has a nice enclosed garden, suitable to let a dog outside with reasonable security. There is gated off-road parking at the side of the property. Nice touches are the welcome tea, eggs, etc, the comfortable furnishings and the woodburning stove in the main living room. All wood was ready, dry and supplied inclusive. The village is very small, one shop/post office opening at limited times, but reasonably well stocked (all major shops are close by 7 miles in Welshpool). There is a recently re-opened pub, which has been renovated and serves very good food on a limited menu and real ale at the time we stayed. Both pub and shop are just a few minutes walk from the house. Overall a nice place to stay, a good location for local walks, using a base for exploring Wales or just relaxing in the village area."

"We loved this holiday cottage in a fabulous location, you felt isolated but within easy walking distance of a small shop, café, pub and restaurant. Great walks all around and the sound of the sea all day long. The access to the property is at first a tad awkward due to the fact you have to enter the narrow lane with brick pillars either side. I drive a large 4x4 so it was rather daunting especially after a 6 hour journey and in the pitch black. In the daylight it was easy enough and its actually wider then you at first think. Due to the steep lane as you descend to Downsteps, a rear wheel car in the wet may have trouble. The property is well laid out and equipped, with a decent shower downstairs, no bathroom upstairs, which was our only criticism. The garden is lovely, and to the left is the pathway that leads upto the shop and pub etc, but note this is also the public footpath that walkers regularly use so your privacy is slightly impaired, albeit this did not bother us. Our children loved the beach which is accessible apart from high tide, as did our dog with all the walks available. Overall, a fabulous property and we intend to rebook as we had such a great time."
