"This property has the potential to tick all the boxes, but sadly did not reach that ideal. The property itself is well laid out and comfortable, new carpets had recently been laid and with 5 TV's, DVD player and wifi. For the four couples that our group consisted of, it met the majority of our requirements. There was a nice touch on arrival with a welcome pack including wine, biscuits and a selection of cheeses, which was appreciated and a couple of days after arrival, Ray the owner turned up with a dozen eggs, again a nice touch. The location is quiet and the views from our bedroom were very pleasant. On the downside though, there were problems with the plumbing and electrics, both of which had previously been raised by earlier occupiers and still not fixed. Briefly these comprised of taps not working, 2 were replaced during our stay though. The downstairs bedroom shower only ran cold, until it was discovered, by chance after 4 days, that if you ran the cold tap in the basin, the shower then produced hot water. this still needed fixing when we vacated. There are problems with the dimmer switches at the bottom of the stairs and in one of the upstairs double bedrooms, causing the lights to flicker, go out and flicker again when you turned them. There was only sufficient crockery and cutlery to effectively enable one course meals. Not very good if you are having 3 courses and have to wash up between courses. There was however a good supply of wine glasses. There are 2 cookers, but neither are very good and the smaller one needs repairing or replacing. The other one blocks the saucepan cupboard, making it difficult to access the contents. A constant smell of diesel or heating oil in the property was unpleasant and needs to be investigated and stopped. There was also a broken lampshade in one of the upstairs double bedrooms, dead batteries in a TV remote and no spare bulbs, one blew. Our double bed could do with a new mattress and a duvet that fitted the bed properly. The property could do with some TLC and we felt that a price of around £1800.00 for the New Year week was quite expensive considering the issues we encountered. For that price, the property should have been up to scratch. The parking for 3 cars is quite tight and you have to reverse through a narrow entry and then manoeuvre at least one car into the space to allow the other 2 in. This could be a challenge for drivers without good spacial awareness.Despite the above, we had an enjoyable stay and would consider staying there in the future, but only if the work to bring the property up to the required standard was carried out."

"This spacious cottage was in a fabulous location but was badly let down by lack of basic cleanliness. Although we did not let this spoil our holiday, we were disappointed that on our first evening we had to request that sheets be changed on one of the beds as there was evidence that this had not been done. We were told on arrival that the carpet had been cleaned that day and indeed this was clean, however we then discovered that this had left a lingering smell, described by my daughter as smelling like 'wet dog'. The cutlery drawer had crumbs from previous occupants, two week old newspaper was found down side of sofa, crumbs under sofa cushions, dirty washing machine drawer, rusty baking trays, bagless hoover full of old debris, sheets and towels that have seen better days and really should be replaced. Last but not least, the windows were exremely dirty and we were reminded of this every time we looked out at the wonderful views from the cottage. There were no dishwasher tablets or cleaning materials at the cottage but toilet rolls had been left for us. Welcome pack consisted of small carton of milk and packet of cookies. This cottage fell way below the standard expected and, having rented many holiday cottages over the past 10 years, this is the first time that I have had to give a review such as this. It is a real shame because this cottage is in a fabulous location, close to Poole and Bournemouth and set in the beautiful Dorset countryside. Myself, my husband, two daughers and 3yr old grandson had a lovely week visiting many places and the weather was beautiful too. In the evenings we enjoyed sitting outside the cottage on the patio and terrace where there were beautifully planted hanging baskets everywhere. There were no other visitors during our stay, so it was very peaceful and quiet."

"Leap House is situated in a peaceful setting overlooking the Castle House Grounds yet was a short walk to the Quay and equally in another direction towards the lovely Walled Town of Wareham and local shops. The accommodation delivered what it promised . It 's neutral decor and comfortable rooms were spotlessly clean. The lounge/diner was well furnished and the kitchen very well equipped with everything you would need if you wished to stay in and cook now and again. Bedrooms too No metal or plastic coat-hangers either but instead plenty of good quality non slip ones which although a small point were indicative of the attention to detail which makes a difference when away from home . Very importantly for us when we are away for a bit of 'R and R is the chance to get a good night's sleep. Here the beds very very comfortable with good pillows and lovely bedding.. We shall certainly return as we have family in Wareham and this is the ideal place to combine a family visit with a bit of a Jolly."

"This is a lovely house in a great location with large rooms (both bedrooms and other areas) and large garden. It was generally clean (other than very badly stained carpet in lounge) with good quality fittings, equipment, beds etc, and could have been amazing but was let down by little things like lack of towel rails and washing line and some maintenance issues. We reported the non-draining shower and stuck bathroom plug and they were sorted out but also several lights not working, broken toilet-roll holders and showers needing de-scaling. Also very awkward to get in/out of one bath/shower due to shower screen being stuck in place and location of toilet right next to bath. Luckily there were four showers and three baths so even with some problems there were plenty of others to use!Just needs a bit more effort and it will be wonderful. We did enjoy staying there though and it only slightly detracted from our enjoyment of the property as it was so spacious and well-located."

"This property is in a good location to visit many of Dorset's attractions, Tank Museum, Kingston Lacy, Wimborne, Weymouth, Poole etc. House itself needs a bit of TLC as it appears a little unloved and in some places slightly dated. Bedroom doors though shut, would rattle when people are walking about, the plumbing was often noisy and some of the crockery was chipped and mismatched. We arrived on a chilly day but the heating hadn't been turned-up to reflect the low temperature, so the property felt cold, though afterwards the house was warm except the kitchen which always felt a little cool. We assumed this was because the Aga has been replaced with a range cooker, hence previously no need for heating. Leaflets for things to do in the area were available, but some were dated 2015 so the information was not likely reliable / accurate. Perhaps at the start of the season the owner should discard out of date literature and replenish with the latest information."
