"I felt I must write to tell you what a wonderful family holiday we had at Chateau Duras. What a magical place. It was magnificent to look at and yet was so welcoming and homely. Our three families plus dog fitted in so well and the children absolutely loved it. We were together to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary (two years after the actual event!!) and the Chateau truly surpassed all our expectations in every way. We made good use of the pool and the tennis court with everyone of all ages playing and the pool was amazing especially in temperatures of up to 37 degrees a lot of the time. The walnut trees provided us all with much needed dappled shade! We loved the local markets in Duras and St Foy La Grande, the boulangeries, the butcher in Duras and also the various night markets and the brilliant BBQs at Domaine de Grand Mayne. We have brought home wine from both there and Les Hauts de Riquets. As well as your own recommendations I was recommended a blog written by a local lady named Helen called Not Just for the Holidays http://notjustfortheholidays.blogspot.com/ which gave us helpful updates on festivals and events. Jane was also very helpful with any queries and also provided us with a delicious meal on arrival. It is true to say that the holiday came to an end all too quickly and none of us were ready to come home!! We hope very much to return again one day to your beautiful home. Thank you so much for making it available to us."

"We stayed here for 1 week over August, 2 families with 4 children under 6 years of age. Tracy had thought of absolutely everything and more. We arrived at the villa around 8pm and after an 8 hour journey we literally dropped all our bags and jumped into the pool. It was lovely and warm and the evening sun set was a perfect start to our holiday. On exploring the house room by room we could not stop saying WOW the little touches that made our holiday: in one of the children rooms was a complete wardrobe of dressing up clothes, the books and games made the children settle in straight away. The linen and bath towels were new and fresh, the beds lovely to sleep in. The whole villa was very clean and kept to very high standards. The gardens were amazing, a football pitch, go carts for adults and the children! Complete with a huge trampoline and swings / slides. The swimming pool was fenced off and active with a pool alarm, the pool was brilliant, big enough for both families with lots of sun loungers and outside dinning. I could go on and on, what I will say is that if you decide to have your holiday here you will not be disappointed, in fact like us you probably wont even venture out, but of course book early as we indeed to visit this little bit of paradise year after year!!!! Thank you Tracy for a wonderful memorable stay."

"This was our first stay at a gite so we picked an area that we were familiar with. The directions to the gite were spot on and we were greeted by the owner who showed us around and explained things and answered any questions that we had. There was a small welcome pack of tea coffee milk and 2 small bottles of wine which after a 8 hour drive went down very well. The gite was basically equipped with all that we needed over the 2 weeks we stayed. There is statalite TV so we could watch the news and some of the World Cup. Internet connection was poor on a good day but ok if sitting around the pool. Bread for breakfast is a 15 min walk into the village which is nice before the heat of the day. The Super market in the village square is very expensive but there is a intermarche supermarket on the outskirts of the village. There is a tourist information office again on the outskirts of the village and the gentleman who runs this is very helpful. There is a restaurant in the village centre which is popular with the local British also on a Thursday night a mobile fish and chip van pulls up in the square again this is very popular I did not try this as I can have fish and chips at home. I would gladly stay here again as everyone is so friendly the location is quite central, it was good to get away from the modern world for a bit."

"My girlfriend and I spent a weekend at the Chateau in June and totally fell in love with the place and our amazing host, Philippe! He was so friendly and accommodating. We were there for a wedding in the area and he even ironed my suit for me! Every morning we had breakfast outside overlooking the manicured vineyard and went for a walk around the Chateau grounds. It is such a serene experience and an excellent value for the money. My girlfriend loved the vintage claw tub, we stayed in the Chateau and the room was extremely spacious with views of the vineyard and wedding chapel. Although we didn't get a chance to check out the pool, we walked by to check it out and it looks even better than what you see in the pictures. As stated previously, we were there to attend a wedding and the location is so secluded, getting a taxi is something that must be arranged ahead of time. Again, Philippe responded immediately to my email when making the booking and had the taxi ready for us for every trip over to the where the wedding was being held. Although there is Wi-Fi at the Chateau, this is the perfect place to unplug and drink in the atmosphere. For families and couples alike, this is one of the best experiences in the region."

"It was quite a long journey driving via the Eurotunnel from the UK to the Chateau which is near Chalais and Aubeterre in the Southern Bordeaux region, but it is relatively easy driving and very much worth it! We were suitably impressed when we arrived through the narrow lanes of the local villages. An impressive and beautiful Chateau with side annex to sleep 8 - perfect for our two families of 4 with children aged between 5 - 9. The children loved having their own space and bathrooms upstairs and the living space was comfortable and clean. Alongside the stunning views, the most impressive aspect of the accommodation however is the heated swimming pool - at 27 degrees it is so pleasant! We had exclusive use of the pool and the comfortable loungers. We also had exclusive use of the back of the property with extensive garden, patio area with comfortable wicker seating and large outdoor table and BBQ. The children loved the pool, the space to play outside and the games room in the cellar. They fed the horses too. We visited local towns such as Chalais and Aubeterre but generally self catered with local shops just 5 minutes away. We ate well, relaxed and enjoyed the peace and serenity of the wonderful location!"
