"We had a really lovely holiday in Columbo Cottage! Firstly its a lot bigger than it looks in the pics and is a really comfortable space. The living area was more than big enough for three adults and one child (mummy, daddy, son and nanny) The kitchen equipped for 'proper' cooking and the dishwasher came in so handy! I also loved the fact that the washing machine was a dryer also, this meant I didnt have to have washing everywhere or take damp towels down the beach the next day! The bedrooms are basic but has everything you need. The bathroom has been renovated since the pic on the website and is lovely.Location wise there is literally NO shops and is a good walk/small drive to the nearest (which I think is actually in Lyme Regis) but that's ok as this cottage is a much cheaper option than staying on the seafront. There are horses just outside the cottage and its in lush countryside! The walk to Lyme Regis is quite difficult as its on a steep hill and there is NO parking in the seafront in high season ie all the spaces are taken (seriously, I drove down once and went back to the cottage after 30 mins of looking) so I would advise this cottage to people with good mobility. Lyme Regis a AWESOME and there are soooo many things to do within a half hour drive of the cottage. There was a really helpful box of tourism leaflets in the cottage which we looked at every day for ideas.Location wise DO NOT use the directions on the website/email they are awful! The entrance to the cottages if off Charmouth Road, opposite the entrance to the Park and Ride. Look out for a metal farm gate and the entrance to the little road that leads to the cottage is on the left of the gate. There is NO sign on the gate area which seems daft but once you know where it is its fine. There are a few gripes which the owners need to look at- not all the Velux windows upstairs had safety chains which meant I have to move my young son's bed away from the window as they dont lock either. This needs looking at as its a family cottage and the windows open horizontal to the roof. The hot water was a bit of an issue- at one point it ran out one evening even though no one had had a shower or bath. And the shower tap is really hard to control meaning you risk having a scorching shower and not being able to change it at all (even with 10 mins of twiddling it)I have noticed a few gripes from other previous reviews that seem to not have been looked at so I would suggest the owners did a litttle check of the small things on these reviews. But all in all we loved our time there and would def stay again. Not sure why some of the other super negative reviews have been made as its a lovely good value cottage in a FANTASTIC area."

"Its a great location, but the cottage is a little cold in temperature and decor. It looks lovely from the outside and the wooden beams are nice, but the carpets etc felt a little too industrial. I also had repeated difficulty opening the bathroom door as there is no easy handle to pull. The shower was a little awkward to use. I wondered about fire safety with only a front door and no back access. We left the property at 5 minutes to ten, but the domestic cleaners arrived like 'the heavy gang' and barged past us and took over the property right away. I thought they could have at least waited until 5 past ten, or for us to do a final check. So I advise anybody else to vacate by 9.45 am. It feels a cold and insensitive way to end our lovely holiday. These little things and touches matter."

"We had a enjoyable stay at S73188 the accommodation was ideal for what we wanted. It is in a good location for Alnwick & the surrounding areas. There was always hot water & we were plenty warm enough & never had to do a heating boost. Furniture etc really nice. Instruction booklet for hob was missing but we eventually got the hang of it!Wasn't keen on the way into the property & the hallway seemed a little damp. Could do with some sort of extractor in the bathroom. Don't want to be negative as I know things aren't always easy to remedy. Outside rubbish bin was an issue, full when we got there it wasn't general waste collection week so we had no option but to leave the rubbish next to the kitchen bin. Didn't like doing this but wheelie bin was rammed."

"Overall a good holiday home. With Dishwasher, Washing Machine and Freezer the facilities available gave us all the home comforts. The master bedroom is a little tight on size, although my wife was amazed you could lay in bed and look straight up at the night stars through the roof window.( if you pulled back the blind!) If you like a good walk the location is a stroll into town of around 40 mins, although the walk back up the hill is a bit more challenging. Ideally we would have been a bit closer to Lyme Regis town, as most times we drove into town. Parking costs were relatively cheap and free at certain times in the resort, with lots of places to eat. The beach near the Harbour / Cobb is ideal for the kids if you get the weather."

"A very comfortable and well equipped cottage down a winding lane. We had a constant supply of hot water and the equipment was fairly up to date. The bed was comfortable and we slept very well in the peaceful surroundings. There were sheep in the field at the end of the garden and horses to the side. There are suggested walks starting at the cottage for different fitness levels. Lyme Regis is lovely and we loved Charmouth Beach. We had to travel to Axminster or Bridport for shopping but as we were out and about everyday, this was no problem. It would be helpful to have a small map find the cottages for the first time as the entrance to the lane is not easy to find. Otherwise we had an enjoyable, relaxing stay."
