"S23569 lived up to all our expectations, and more. The location is perfect, it is private, in its own grounds with only sheep for neighbours! When looking for a cottage, we always look for somewhere quiet and peaceful where we can relax, walk our dog away from crowds and watch birds and wildlife. We saw a large variety of birds in the garden throughout the week and this gave us a huge amount of enjoyment, especially as the weather was a bit grim the first couple of days! The cottage is spacious but cosy, comfortable and spotlessly clean and we felt at home straightaway. Lovely owner, gave us a tour on arrival and then left us to it, making sure we knew she was only at the end of the phone if we needed anything. Langholm itself is a very pretty town and we explored several of the Langholm walks (easy to more strenuous) starting from Kilngreen car park during the week which are recommended. This cottage really ticked all our boxes and this is very rare indeed. We would love to go back if and when is available again."

"We only stayed in the property for one hour as I had an urgent call to return home. This review therefore is based solely on first impressions. The house was quite remote. The windows were rather dirty which was more noticeable due to the striking views from some windows. I found the interior to be rather gloomy. The furniture (sofas and chairs) was rather uncomfortable and well worn and totally unsuitable for people with limited or restricted mobility e.g. My elderly mother could only have sat on a dining chair due to the very low and lumpy furniture. The bedrooms were gloomy. We were disappointed to note that access was not until 5pm which would make finding the property in winter time extremely difficult due to its remoteness. We only found this out on receipt of key instructions at the same time as finding out that heating would be charged for from 1st October. Information that could influence the decision to book the property."

"This is the best and most spacious holiday cottage we have been to. A very warm welcome from the owner and tour. Cottage so Very well equipped! we were 6 adults and 2 dogs. two sitting rooms and fantastic conservatory, where we spent most of our time overlooking the garden ,lots of bird visitors . large kitchen home from home. we all "slept in" as were so relaxed! enormous garage handy to 'decant dogs' safely from the car. Comfortable beds. very clean. the 2nd 'loo' is also handy when cottage fully occupied mentioned as not in any of descriptions... found the closeness of the main roads very handy for ease of access when touring. Lots to see and do within varying distances. there are 2 handy well stocked shops and a choice of eating places and our dogs loved their walks to the forest up the road ."

"The double beds are very small in sunken mattresses are awful the sleep on. The property looks like it hasn't had any money spent on it in 30 years. There's bats dying in the log burning fire. No black bin at the property makes things difficult when you have dogs. And all the pictures of nude children are very inappropriate. The kitchen was poorly equiped. I found myself weeding as the garden was a mess. There was an axe left out which was dangerous for the children.we couldnt all sit and watch a film at the end of a tiring day because its tooked in the window sil and the sofas are just as uncomfy as the beds...we couldn't rest!....we left two days ealy in favour of a comfy bed! It was far too expensive....we were all very disappointed.."

"A fabulous cottage that has everything you need. All essential items are well catered for and plenty of spares of everything. The lounges and conservatory are very comfortable - we struggled to know which was best! The kitchen is a great size for the whole family and a real central point of the cottage.Bedrooms very comfortable for a great night's sleep. Two toilets are really useful for a larger party.Garden is great for the dogs and fully enclosed. Can't recommend this cottage enough to anyone thinking about renting it. Owner is very helpful and gives great advice. The Ecclefechan hotel is only a 5 min walk and is again very comfy with pool, fire, good beers and great food at a reasonable price."
