"After really looking forward to this break, we were both extremely disappointed with our choice. Thimble Cottage is in need of a TOTAL DEEP CLEAN.On arrival and unpacking, we were quite taken back by the lack of cleaning which you would expect between the requested departure time of 10.0 am and being able to enter the property any time after 3.0 pm (5 hours). The cups still had coffee stains from the previous occupiers, the windows were dirty, the bathroom hasn't been cleaned for some time, cob webs at skirting level, which suggests no mopping of the floor certainly not at the periphery, glass shelves - mirror lights all very dusty, Bedroom continued the theme with cob webs etc. Reading the guest book, it appeared previous occupiers were more taken back by the various wild fowl roaming the estate e.g. peacocks - guinea fowl, which were at the patio window constantly waiting to be fed, which deflected the comments relating to the actual property. However the location is ideal for travelling round and there are some lovely places to visit along the coastline, which we love."

"The 'house' was not at all suitable for a dog as the living room was upstairs and dogs were not allowed upstairs. The downstairs bedroom had no windows so was dark and airless. The upstairs bedroom was too light. The blinds on the window were useless and there was a street lamp outside. The velux windows had blinds on them but it was impossible to reach them so they were uncovered all the time. There was no dishwasher which is fair enough but there was no draining board to put the washed items. With a wet dog and child, it would have been a good idea to come and go through the utility room but then the dog (and the rest of us) would have had to go through the downstairs bedroom (which was not allowed).I would not describe the house as 'end of terrace'. It was more like a garage conversion! It looked very modern and attractive inside but was really not very user friendly."

"The apartment was lovely, everything we needed. A very welcome pint of milk, biscuits and a bottle wine were waiting for us on arrival. The only reason it didn't get a 10 was that I had difficulty getting access to data on my phone which may have been poor coverage of my. Also no-where to sit out in the last of the evening sun.The location is a perfect base visiting the local area. We went over to Seahouses and up to Bamburgh Castle. The information pack said it is a 15 min walk and into town and it really is only 15 mins. I walked into town and down to Alnwick Gardens. Sainsburys is a few mins in the car or a short walk. It was lovely to come back and relax after a day out. The super king size bed was very comfortable. We'd have no hesitation about staying here again."

"We had a lovely time at S59195, the cottage is lovely and in such a great location. We felt really comfortable there and settled in the minute we arrived. Everything was wonderful, but if I was nit-picking I would suggest the following:The key to the front door doesn't work from outside (I had to call the office and get someone to let me in as I only took that key with me). Not really a problem, but either need to mention it only locks from inside or repair the lock. The bathroom is lovely but a little cold - either a larger radiator or a large towel rail would be good in there. These are really only minor things that certainly didn't spoil our holiday - oh maybe just one more thing - if you could make sure the sun is shining if we visit again! xx"

"I very spacious cottage that was well equipped for our stay. Personally we found the mattress too soft. And in the age of technology, wifi would have been a huge advantage. However, the beach was lovely and was only a few minutes walk. We took a stroll one evening and were amazed at the amount of jellyfish!! (We had never seen so many). There is a pele castle across the road from the house and whilst there we had a leaflet pushed through about archeologists doing survey work in the nearby areas surrounding the castle. (Very exciting). We had complimentary tea, coffee, milk and chocolate upon arrival, which was lovely, as well as bottles of water per person. It had the added bonus of stair gates which was fabulous when having twin two year olds."
