"Hay on Wye is a lovely area; 'S16888' overlooks the River Wye and so SHOULD be idyllic. The property falls down on several counts... It is reasonably clean and reasonably well equipped inside, but, only reasonably. However, there were insufficient number of towels when we arrived.. they were expecting only 2 people and so laid out towels for this number. Our daughter joined us for 2 nights and so we had to ring to ask for extra. We arrived in a gloriously warm spell of weather.. S16888 is a modern town house over 3 floors, three of the bedrooms being on the 2nd floor and are overwhelmingly hot. There wasn't a fan provided, although to their credit, once we asked, the managers obliged by buying one the next day.Our main criticism however, is the poor condition of the 2 balconies; the lower is mediocre but, because the bank below was SO overgrown it felt uncomfortable to sit and look at the river. The upper balcony is filthy, with spiders webs and dust etc. accumulated from many months. The lower balcony is a little cleaner, but again was tatty with a grubby cover thrown over, I presume, a barbecue.... I didn't really want to touch any of it. We were disappointed as really don't feel this property warrants a five star rating. I would welcome your comments please."

"We had a lovely relaxing week at The S16898. Our two children (7 & 4) adored the outside space and spent a lot of time running around burning off some energy in the huge garden. The inside space is just as fantastic as the outside space, we really cannot fault it and would stay again. We never found a local shop but had a supermarket delivery whilst we were there so had everything we needed for a weeks stay. The far, shop that's recommmended by the owners in the visitors book is lovely but very pricey. There is so much to do in and around Herefordshire. If you are visiting with small children then visit the Butterfly zoo and maze. The national trust properties nearby are fantastic, we are annual pass holders as they are great for events with the little ones. The Brecon Becons are stunning, you must visit if you stay here, it's under an hour drive and worth the trip."

"We have been married almost 50 years and this was our first visit EVER to Wales. We will return! As well as the weather which was fabulous for our stay, S21406 was a delight. It was very well appointed, clean, welcoming, some nice quirky personal touches, an excellent place to relax, and only five minutes walk into the village. The view from the conservatory which faces West, one can watch the setting sun plus watch the wide variety of birds and wildlife feeding from the multitude of feeders. There are two other outside sitting areas which we made good use of after exploring the area. This lead us to our only 'complaint'.............the wine glasses are too big! Two glasses each and the bottle is empty! I will finalise this by saying "Highly Recommended""

"We had a lovely few days in the cottage, we met up with our family and although it rained the whole time we had great fun going out for the days and playing games in the evening. The cottage is well equipped to meet the needs of a family. The only problem we encountered was that it was difficult to control the temperature of the upstairs shower. However we all just used the downstairs shower so it wasn't too much of a problem. We had a lovely day out at the Big Pit and also a run on the Brecon National Railway. We enjoyed a tour of Talgarth Mill and the wee ones took part in a workshop within the Mill making rag rug sheep. We had a lovely meal in the Bridge End Inn where the owner made us very welcome. The food was excellent."

"A lovely comfortable and cosy cottage in a peaceful location. We arrived to find fresh flowers, cakes, tea, coffee, sugar and milk and juice in the fridge. A very welcome touch. The kitchen provided everything we needed for our weeks holiday. The cottage was spotlessly clean and the beds very comfortable. The neaest shop, the Co-op is only a 5 minute walk away There was also a couple of pubs and a very good fish and chip shop, all within walking distance. The surrounding country side is stunning and we enjoyed many walks, some of which started a short distance from the cottage. Many thanks to Keith and Eirwen for providing such a lovely holiday home."
