What our customers are saying about our Holiday Cottages With Swimming Pools In Witton Gilbert To Rent.

"The cottage was clean and comfortable. Our mattress was an orthopaedic memory topped mattress but we sank into the middle and the springs pinged and basically we didn’t sleep the entire time we were there. However, everyone is different with their mattress preferences so I can’t knock them for this, it just didn’t suit us. The kitchen was fully equipped, but had no baking trays (we couldn’t find any) for the oven which was a pain but we muddled through. Toaster, microwave, knives, bottle opener, dish washer etc all there. (Bring your own handwash and dishwasher tablets). The underfloor heating on the stone floor was lovely. Very nice modern touch and kept cold feet at bay. Staff on site were very friendly and efficient. Even gave us a bottle of white wine as a welcome gift on arrival which was a lovely touch and much appreciated! The swimming pool was clean, the kids loved it! Found it easy enough to put the cover on after use if your the last ones out at night. WiFi - you can request a 4G data box at £5 per 1GB. It’s cheaper and better to add on a data package to your phone plan as you can get a full reception and 4G coverage anyway.Nearby there’s plenty to do within a short drive - out of everything we did, Hamsterley Forest was the best. And Coppermine was the nicest for food. The shared swimming pool was a big hit, most of the time we had it to ourselves which was great. And we could watch the kids from the hot tub or the comfort of the sofa so win win! For the price we paid, we would definitely come here again, and get our friends to rent the cottage next door too!"

"The cottage was very clean and spacious, and set within some lovely grounds. The garden and hut tub are a real bonus. The owners will leave you a welcome pack of tea/coffee/milk etc but otherwise you'll have to shop or bring your own. We didn't shop locally (I don't recall seeing a small food shop nearby but could be mistaken), but the nearest town of Crook, around 5 miles away, has everything you need. There is a pub directly across the road from the cottage which does food as well, nothing fancy but standard pub grub, and there's another (more 'local') pub just up the street. You'll definitely need a car to go anywhere as there's not a great deal in the area, and don't be fooled by Witton Castle - it's now a holiday/caravan park type place and the castle is just their on site bar/restaurant etc. There are fishing ponds though for those into that sort of thing. If you're looking for a castle then try Raby Castle instead. We'd stay at the cottage again, and the only thing I can fault about it is the clock in the living room - it chimes incessantly!"

"I went on recommendation from a friend who came a few years ago but I’ve got to say I was quite disappointed, the owners were lovely and the cottage was well set out and ideal for what we wanted but only one toilet roll per bathroom was provided (2 bathrooms for an 8 person cottage Friday-Monday). I didn’t expect to have to take toilet roll and had to drive to a local village to buy some. No hand soap was provided in the bathrooms either. The crockery wasn’t very clean and at one point we dropped something under the sofa only to move it and find sweet wrappers, popcorn and even one lone flip flop, god knows how long that had been there! The pool on site also smelt of wet sand which was sat at the bottom of the pool, also unsure when and how often this was cleaned. The area and scenery was beautiful and we visited a few beautiful places during our stay but I wouldn’t return to the same cottage"

"I thought as a holiday get away, this was a fabulous little place to go to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city life! I couldn't fault the decor, the cleanliness and the location. All get top marks! If I had to give one negative, the bed is extremely soft and not the most comfortable - possibly could do with being slightly bigger. Lastly, as people most probably stay for the weekend reasonably often, it may be more beneficial for the owners to clean the pool on an off peak day during the week, rather than a sunday, to give the guests more of an opportunity to use the house facilities. Overall though, highly recommended and the couple who own the house are very welcoming and friendly."

"The worst cottage I have stayed in! No hot tub so false advertising which was previously mentioned from other visitors. Snooker table was torn and the cushions were taped on to the table so it was impossible to have a game of snooker. Again false advertisingSauna did not give out heat despite leaving it on for over an hour. You cannot sit on the living room sofa's due to the cushions being worn out which resulted to us watching a movie on the floor. Again this was mentioned on previous reviewsThe stairs to go upstairs to the bedrooms creaks which kept waking up childNo blanket or pillow case covers Small green insects on the wall of the living room Plates and glasses had a smell of off fish"
