"When we arrived at the cottage it was freezing. We phoned the owner as we couldn't find how to switch the heating on. We were told there was a box in the kitchen. As we still could not locate this we phoned the owner again and she said she would come down. She came with a key to open the box with which we could switch the heating on. She informed us that usually the heating would not come on until 4pm and if we lit the fire this soon warmed the place up. This was a week in February where the temperature rarely got above freezing outside all week. On the day we arrived the children were excited to go to the pool. When we arrived at the pool it was freezing and the heating was not on in the pool room at all. The sauna was also out of order. The heating in the room was then put on for the rest of the week but the pool temperature was too low for the adults to feel comfortable in the water. The sauna intermittently worked all week but kept "tripping" and needed the handyman to sort it out on a number of occasions. The owner explained that it was very expensive to heat the pool or the room to a higher temperature! Overall these aspects of the trip mean we will definitely not be back and would not recommend this accommodation to other guests."

"Enjoyed a relaxing weeks holiday staying at S23311. The owner, Rosemary, was very friendly and welcoming, and quickly sorted out a problem we had with the TV when we arrived. The house is set in beautiful grounds which are a pleasure to walk around, and if you are lucky you may see deer and squirrels. There is much to see and do in Fife and Perthshire, even in October, so no one should be stuck for anything to do, and the house is well placed for exploring the surrounding area.I recommend a visit to Loch Leven castle at Kinross, followed by lunch at Loch Leven Larder a few miles away. The food is delicious.Falkland and Falkland Palace are also interesting places to visit and the guides at the Palace are very friendly and informative."

"Well appointed, comfortable cottage in beautiful grounds. Quiet location which made for a relaxing holiday. The lovely pool was much used due to the very poor weather we experienced. The gardens at Pitcarlie Lodge were beautifully planted and kept, and if the sun had shone, the patio and bbq would have been a treat. Rosemary’s welcome introduction to the property was helpful, quick and unobtrusive. I knew that if anything needed to be attended to it would be, and was also pleased at how quuick wi-fi could be accessed at the main building. 10 out of 10, Rosemary, you’re a star! Many thanks, Anne (02/07/12 to 06/07/12). July 2012."

"Shame the central heating as not on when we arrived at 3pm, cottage was very very cold. We were unable to change the timer as it was behind a locked 'cupboard'. We did call the owners but no joy. Log fire was lovely but that did not enough on its own. Advise you to keep the door locked as the owner came into the cottage unannounced while we were in the kitchen!!! I don't think privacy is a concern for the owner as she also sent a potential 'hirer' to the cottage to view it when we were there - that is not on......."

"Idyllic, it was situated on the entrance to the estate leading up to the main house, and just off a country road. There were agreed walks within the estate, and use of the swimming pool and sauna. It was quite, and relaxing which was what we wanted. Property was clean and tidy, enough room for two couples with one bedroom with ensuite whilst there was a bathroom next to the other bedroom. No interference from the owners. March 2010."
