What our customers are saying about our Holiday Cottages With Swimming Pools In Devon To Rent.

"The cottage was very tired looking and although we appreciated the traditional decor it needs a good paint. The bed was awful, rock hard and as the floor sloped downwards we had to prop the bottom of the bed up with books. The security of the cottage was awful, single glazed front door with a wobbly door lock that could easily be broken in seconds. It was very noisy as we could hear the people in the adjoining cottage (mill house) walking around and everytime they went out and left their dog, it howled constantly (Not tuckenhays fault) but very annoying. We went to sit on the bench by the football pitch and it was disgustingly dirty. Caked in dirt and bird poo and obviously hadn't been cleaned in years, if ever. The outside pool was filthy with dirt at the bottom and the plastic sunbeds (Not many) were not provided with a cover so were very uncomfortable to lay on. The communal areas of the indoor pool were disgusting. Toilets filthy, floors filthy, changing rooms filthy and needed a total update and decoration. It would have been nice to have had a small shop onsite for bread and milk etc as it was a long drive to the shops and we were not given the 2 pints of milk in our cottage when we arrived as promised in the website so we didn't get a cup of tea for 16 hours. Tuckenhays surroundings were beautiful but a lot more money has to be spent on cleaning and maintenance, we never saw a cleaner when we were there. The whole experience was so awful we left 4 days early and will never return. The photos on the website were beautiful but nothing like the actual place and very misleading."

"Was not too sure what to expect when I booked the apartment in the castle. The castle is fascinating in that it is a Victorian folly. Bassett (Liquorice Allsorts fame) had it built for his wife. It is worth reading the history of the building. What is superb is the fantastic view - we stayed in the Harbour accommodation - and as the name indicates we overlooked the harbour. The accommodation was spacious and clean. It had all we needed for our stay, so a good range of equipment, plates, etc., in the kitchen. The lounge was comfy. The bed linen was lovely as were the beds. The bathroom was basic and the shower okay. We had our own parking space which was nice. The staff were helpful. There is a small indoor swimming pool which I used most days. The accommodation is annexed next to the Watermouth theme park. The downstairs bit of the castle housed a museum fall of lots of different curios, as well as the traditional things you would see in an old place. The owners have spent time collating a vast range of old mechanical things , such as one armed bandits and other primitive slot machines. The theme park is very much based on this with small children's rides which reflect a more bygone period. All in all a very pleasant experience. We had the most amazing weather so this helped to make the stay that more special."

"Great cottage (castle cottage 3 at Tuckenhay Mill) perfectly situated for the natural beauty and top sites in South Devon. Cottage is well equipped and comes with BBQ. Looked to have been recently refurbished as all very clean and fresh. Great views as situated up the hillside. Good facilities on site as there are two indoor pools and one outdoor. Three jacuzzis, sports and games room, gym and a small football pitch. Easy to find on the map. Only negative points really were the comfortableness of the beds as none of the mattresses were particularly comfortable and the old spring type. Also the issue of hiring towels. Feel for the cost of the cottage for a week the mattresses could be of better quality or have a foam topper added and the towels should be thrown in for the price. Otherwise a great trip and the staff members we came across on site were lovely and very helpful."

"The cottage and facilities at Tuckenhay were lovely and we had a fantastic family holiday. The grounds are kept very well and the cottage was warm and inviting. The cottage was clean but on closer inspection there was quiet a lot of dust (behind bedside tables and on rails etc). The beds were not the most comfortable. The cottage had everything you need and the kitchen was well equipped, we also used the bbq and spent the evenings sat outside on decking. The kids loved the swimming pool especially the waterfall pool and the games room was good fun! Great for a family break and something for everyone, our party ranged from aged 9years to 60 years! Totnes is a lovely town, we sos visited Paignton,Torquay and Dartmouth."

"The website suggested two bathrooms and a welcome pack but there was only one bathroom and no welcome pack. There was plenty of crockery and pots and pans but one or two more basic consumables would have been nice. The apartment was spacious and well maintained. The castle was nicely located midway between Ilfracombe and Combe Martin. Having access the theme park when it was closed to the public was brilliant. Obviously the rides were closed but the gardens were spectacular and very peaceful. And Watermouth Harbour, the Boat Cafe and the coastal path were a five minute walk away. We had a great time and will definitely consider another visit."
