"0n arrival we where not happy, the property info said ( parking at end of path) very misleading ,the 2 slots where for unloading only 8 properties 35-42 we where next to the end in 41,not a good start being as we changed our first holiday in paignton because there was NO parking,we had to park down a VERY STEEP hill reception -bar-restruant -pool-shop and all facilities were at the bottom of the hill ,we only made it down there once in 14 days, getting in and out of the property was traumatic, the step was 12-14 inches high 7 inch is normal step height..i had to go into the trees and find some logs to make a step.photo`s to follow.on thursday wk 1 i had to ring maintenance because the freezer was playing up and would`nt stop beeping,Kevin responded came to us as soon as he started work. he reset freezer and as soon as it got to temp it was alright . i mentioned the step to him and the contents of the visitors book 2015-16-17 all complained about step ,parking and beds you could feel the springs when you ran your hands over them. he said the double bed mattress was not very old so he could`nt understand it but he would report it to the owners.i thought about what he said later and decided to check the mattresses all felt the same so i turned the double one over ( lable stated = turn over regularly ) i turned all five over and they were not bad then, so obviously they had never been turned over, now the good side of the cottage, once reported to the proper people everything was done to help,"KEVIN " REPAIRS, 6 concrete blocks were bought up to property for a temporary step within 20minutes of him leaving he said he would replace the freezer if it did`nt settle down,ALL cooking utensils were new, stainless pans, steamers, ample plates ect living room was clean and very comfortable settees tv=dvd=sound bar, toilet and bathroom were very clean ,EVERYTHING we required for our 14 day stay was there. i think a washing machine would be appreciated instead of the NEW dishwasher.NOT RECOMMENDED FOR ANYONE WITH SLIGHT DISABILITY , (HOUSEBOUND AT NIGHT) THAT HILL IS TO MUCH,Spoilt holiday not able to have a walk at night and have a drink or meal, sorry but i would`nt book there again, mick&jenny reynolds ."

"The photographs didn’t really do it justice as the lodge appeared to have been recently decorated and some furnishings updated. The lodge was spotless, the kitchen was well equipped with everything we needed. The bedrooms were a good size and the beds perfectly comfortable. We really enjoyed the added bonus of the hot tub and it was lovely to relax in. Honicombe in itself is a great place, we ate in the restaurant, took part in the light evening entertainment (deal or no deal was fun) - even the dog came with us one evening, it is such a dog inclusive place. This is a great location for families with or without dogs who want a holiday with plenty of facilities but not in your face as bigger holiday parks can be. The whole place was friendly and relaxing, we wouldn’t hesitate to return to the park & this lodge.Nice and clean great hot tub but could do with a drying area. Bit of a musky smell inside. Needs aired more often but no big deal wasn't unpleasant. Good base for touring Cornwall. Food & drink in manor house tasty and not expensive. Jamie good and helpful. Beware of the hot water out of the taps, it's scalding hot. Rubbish internet connection none in the lodge intermittent in pub or games room. Liked the upstairs living room and kitchen. Dogs allowed but luckily didnt smell of dogs.dogs are very welcome too"

"The beds were comfortable but had 13.5 tog quilts on which you can imagine in the summer are far too heavy. My sister and I had to take ones off the single beds which were still too warm being 10.5? And we were sleeping in the double beds. The items in the kitchen were all over the place being in separate cupboards and there wasn't an empty one to be able to use for food etc so we had to leave ours on the worktop. Every time we washed up I had to put the boost on so we could have hot water. The folder in the lounge had items in there dating back to 2014, WHY? I actually sat one evening and sorted it out and threw quite a bit away. There were no instructions for how to use the microwave and we had to give up on that. There were also no instructions for the DVD and we eventually had to call the caretaker out and he found that it had not been connected properly. We could not sit out as the table was filthy and the "view" was obscured by branches and also the grass had not been cut. We will not be staying there again! We were informed that wifi was only available in the bar area which was some distance away and not an ideal location if you wanted to use your laptop for work purposes. It did cause us an inconvenience however overall the lodge was lovely."

"Only issue was the possible smell of damp on the 1st floor which I've seen several times on other reviews for this location (maybe it's the stream/river close by), it was kind of a weird smell, kind of home cooking gone wrong but we soon got used to it. The lodge itself was located in the valley of the holiday park so it was a bit of a hassle driving to it which wasn't too bad but it made walking there and back to go to the on site restaurant, bar & leisure facilities something we avoided with 2 young children. We got 2 swipe cards for the indoor pool & a small gym which were well maintained. The games room had some paid for games such as pool, arcade games & table football but also a table tennis set free to play.Did not use the facilities, except games room so cannot comment on this subject. Lodge very clean, comfortable, nicely decorated and furnished. Had a couple of problems with Wi-Fi and TV reception, but this was quickly resolved by the owner (Jan), who was very pleasant and extremely helpful. We received a welcome box, which was very much appreciated. Well worth the train ride from Gunnislake (free parking at Station) to Plymouth, the views were stunning. Would not hesitate to highly recommend this Lodge."

"The house is equipped with everything that you need. Most stores are within driving distance. The owners of the house were quick to resolve issues that we met. Would definitely stay here again. We were a group of 6-wasn’t enough mugs for all of us. Enough of other dishes and cutlery. One very small shower. Do have a bath but not allowed to use the shower attached to it as water may leak. Tiny pool in complexI complained about the cleanliness of the lodge we stayed in on both occasions and also the poor maintenance of the lodge. In all fairness the app and website of Sykes was very easy to use but that is just about all I can say that is positive. The park was advertised as having entertainment but there was only 2 activities on the whole week we stayed. We complained to the housekeeper and maintenance who appeared to be the same person about cleanliness and a broken tap, neither were very well resolved. Overall it just put a dampener on what would have been a lovely week. It is a shame but this privately owned lodge has probably put us off using Sykes again.."
