"Booked this for the annual family get together for 7 of us and 2 dogs. Cottage is in a fantastic location next to the river with views across the countryside. It's very modern inside with loads of space for us all and we loved the open plan ground floor with the bi-folding doors. It was very clean and warm. The owner met us on arrival and gave us a tour which was a nice touch. The furnishings are very comfy and the fire is great at night time. There is a walk along the river from the field at the back of the house which was great for the dogs as, apart from the sheep in the field at the house, the rest were fenced in. We also saw Red Kites. At night there is no light pollution so the stars look amazing. The house is perfectly situated for exploring the area. Kirriemuir is 10mins away and Forfar a little further. It took us just over half an hour to get to Lunan Bay which is a stunning beach. The Cairngorms provide the backdrop of the north view from the house and it only takes 30 - 40 mins to get to Glen Clova or Glen Doll where there are several walks, as well as access to the Cairngorm Plateau. Braemar was about 1hr and 15mins where we explored more walks and bagged a Munro. The house was perfect for us. Beautiful rural setting but close to shops and towns should we need it but likewise not far from areas where you can just spend the day walking and enjoying nature. The pub up the road does excellent food and has a steak night on Tuesdays."

"This is the second time I have stayed at Rowan Tree Cottage. The cottage is light and airy and is in a secluded and peaceful location. The cottage is well equipped and there is a tv in each room. The owner, Bob, is friendly and welcoming. There is no WiFi (I didn’t miss it) but this is available a short distance away at Glenshee Pottery and Cafe. The nearest supermarkets are in Blairgowrie, about 12 miles away but basics can be obtained from the post office at Bridge of Cally. There is wildlife in abundance in the area - a stoat, hare and roe deer visited the garden. It was relaxing to watch a wide variety of birds on the feeder just outside the window. The cottage is in a good location for visiting Perthshire and the Angus glens as well as Braemar and Balmoral."

"What an awesome setting and absolutely ideal as an escape from the madding crowd. No phone signal and no wi fi make this perfect. Our 2 teenage kids got used to this surprisingly quickly. Bob is on hand to ensure all is well and you settle in perfectly . The nearest pub is 6 miles away but well worth the drive . The Glen Isla hotel is well worth a visit . The setting of the cottage is sublime . The hot tub is perfect. There are plenty things to do whilst winding down Well worth a visit and thanks must go to Bob for allowing us to stay at his cracking cottage. It ain’t full of modern amenities but that is the charm so please don’t change Thanks Richard"

"We had an adventure as we arrived on the day the Beast from the East hit the country and we found ourselves and two spaniels marooned for a week expect for a short break in the storm midweek which allowed a visit to Arbroath to stock up at Morrison’s. The central heating was first class and the wood fire very cosy and cheered us up in the evenings. The World indoor Olympics was on that week which was a bonus and I got inspired by the winter scenes through the large picture windows and painted the views. The dogs were happy (with coats on) sniffing and exploring the well fenced garden. Excellent all round.will be back in better weather."

"Our holiday was very nice. The location is great, in the middle of the nature. That is what we loved. Also the owner was great. He came immidiataly when the heater did not work. We got another one. He took us up in his own car to hear and see red dear and red grouse. He is so nice. The cottage is small, very old. What we did not like was the bed. It was too small for 2 persons. There is no reiception of 4G, telephone, wifi or television, but we get use to it. We read a lot of books. It was great to experience. And...after a few days we liked it.My husband is disabled, he can manage in the cottage. Maybe a ramp at the grass will be fine."
