"We made ourselves known to the owner of the property who lives at No 46. She advised us to park our car to the rear of the accommodation which involved driving through a ford, over a narrow bridge, up a quite steep and very uneven dirt track, through the gated entry into the rear garden of the premises. You will park your car on grass (which hadn't been cut for at least a couple of weeks and was very wet early in the morning and late at night) guided in especially at night by garden solar lights. I can imagine that in bad weather people will get their shoes very wet & muddy. We entered the premises to be greeted by a damp/musty smell which was eventually remidied by opening all of the doors & windows. Inside the kitchen there was the smallest fridge that I have ever seen. The bathroon was very dated and the shower was less than useless. Into the main bedroom to find quite a small and very uncomfortable bed. Into the lounge area to find a 2 seater settee and 2 very uncomfortable easy? chairs. There were NO CURTAINS in any of the rooms just verticle blinds. There were weeds growing in the patio area and the garden area (lawn & shrubbery which looked onto the back door of the premises) was so overgrown we only used it to put rubbish into the dustbin. There is no shop in the village. It looked as if had closed quite a long time ago. The nearest shop that we found was in Stokesley, about 5 miles away"

"We booked S15036 for our annual three night family get together - 5 adults, two teenagers and two small dogs and we had a superb time. The layout of the cottage met our requirements, the kitchen and dining room is open plan and was large enough to cook a roast chicken dinner on our first night. The BBQ was adequate to cook beef steaks, sausages, chicken drumsticks and beefburgers, and we can recommend the Royal Oak for Sunday lunch. The private garden overlooks the weir and of an evening you can turn on the perimeter lights and sit outside. The log fire in the spacious sitting room took off the chill of an evening and felt very cosy. The keyboard in the dining room provided entertainment after dinner (our grandson brought his guitar and we had a singalong. There are picturesque short walks in the area, so we didn't have to move our cars once we arrived. We were provided with a welcome pack upon our arrival, fresh bread, milk, preserves, a bottle of wine, which we thought was a nice touch. All in all, we had a lovely three night break and would certainly go back."

"Vane house is situated in osmotherly couldn't of picked a better village to stay in .we were given an early check in so had a full first day there, owner rang us with directions and how to pick key up and left us a welcome pack of butter ,bread and milk .we were a party of 2 and one large dog and found the place big enough for us ,fantastic shower ,comfy beds ,but tv could be placed diff as had to crane necks to watch ,was a bit cold in a morning and even when I turned knobs on radiators there was no heating ,I did get the towel rail to work though to dry towels ,owner was very polite when ever we saw him and asked if everything was OK ,great secure off street parking provided with our annexe ,overall was a lovely 4 night stay booked few days before so got a good deal ,would definatly stay again if in that area"

"This trip was absolutely fantastic and just what we needed. I travelled with my mother and partner and 2 dogs. The garden is secure and large which is great for the dogs. It's also incredibly private which is just so peaceful. It looks out onto the wind turbines which is so relaxing. Plenty of seating and a good sized table. And of course, the highlight...the hot tub. Worked great, again so private. The cottage is kept so clean and to a great standard, it's my dream house! Great facilities and the kitchen comes kitted out. Just the perfect getaway. Only thing we could suggest is a net of some sort to fish out bugs and other things that get into the hot tub. Didn't affect it that much but just a suggestion. The mattresses were also a little hard. We will definitely be returning. Absolutely amazing!"

"The cottage is on a site with several other cottages but they outdoor areas have been arranged so that they are private. There are lovely views over farmland from the garden/hot tub. The cottage is a semi detached bungalow with 3 nice sized bedrooms and a large well equipped kitchen/dining room. There is parking for 2 cars at the front of the cottage and a dog walking paddock on the site. The owner came to see us on arrival and was very helpful. The location of the site is quite remote. You would need a car to get around and visit places although there are some local walks detailed in a book in the cottage. We used the cottage as a base and visited Whitby, Saltburn by the sea, Yarm, Stokesley and Preston Park while we were there."
