"We were a family of 14 from Denmark and Australia meeting for a week’s family reunion holiday and Chateau Gaillac more than met our expectations. We felt very spoilt. The chateau is absolutely beautiful and well kept. Built around 1860-70s it has so much character and the photos are a true representation of both the size of the rooms and the way they look. Beds were comfortable and there were 10 gorgeous large bedrooms most with 3 beds. 7 upstairs and 3 downstairs - and more than enough bathrooms and toilets. The lounge room, dining room and kitchen and upstairs foyer were also great for relaxation. Marie looked after us from the very beginning with a tour around the house. She was available to help with any issues. When she is away, there is a lady next door who comes to clean the pool and help with any issues or her son also came to fix the TV one day. Bed linen, plenty of bath towels and pool towels and toilet paper was all supplied to us for the week. There were even some spare swimmers in case needed. The pool was delightful and looks exactly like the photos. There were lots of pool toys for the kids and we left some too. The best part was the kitchen and the outdoor table. We had a young boy who couldn’t swim so it was important that we could see him in the pool while we dined. The kids were in the pool all night and we loved sitting at the outdoor table eating and enjoying a glass of wine watching the kids play in the pool. Marie even supplied some nice wine to start with. The house had 2 rooms with air conditioning the rest had fans. However, we closed the shutters during the hot days and opened them early in the morning and that kept the house cool. The location was great. However, we had such a good time at the chateau we only made it to Albi and Gaillac. We would recommend a trip to Albi to see the big red brick church - it is incredible. There are plenty of vineyards around too that offer daily wine tasting and we found some lovely local wines. The house has a number of bicycles of which 5 of them were in good condition and we went on a few tours through the vineyards. There is also a BBQ outdoor that we used a few times. All up we all felt the Chateau was perfect. We had such a lovely time and would strongly recommend this for any family or larger group gathering. There is plenty room for everyone to relax and enjoy."

"We had a very good time at Chateau Asturias from July 26 – August 2. The space easily accommodated our party of 12. It was very generously appointed with a well equipped kitchen, comfortable beds, plenty of spaces to sit around in. We loved the two long tables which were marvellous for meals inside or out. Very clean and fresh on our arrival. The views in all directions were delightful. The village was charming. There was plenty to and see in the environs. The tennis playing members of our party enjoyed the public courts, but whether that will remain the case for future visitors is up for question, as they are somewhat neglected. (One of the courts had saplings growing through the hard surface!) The swimming pool was a bit small – but difficult to see how it could be enlarged. I would have really appreciated a brief history of the Chateau and also an account of the renovation work that was done by M. and Mme Mei – it was such an imaginative conversion. If I were to mention any improvements I would have liked, they are quite mundane: i It would have been useful to have a floor mop to wipe over the kitchen floor ii A clothes line for drying clothes: could be discrete and easily put away, but it is quite unnecessary to run a drying machine when there is so much lovely sunshine iii There was from time to time the unmistakable whiff of French plumbing iv Anne met us on arrival and was very charming. Unfortunately my husband was not feeling well at that point and had to go straight to bed. Anne gave all instructions to our 15 year old grand-daughter. By the time I came downstairs she had gone. Fortunately grand-daughter is a bright girl and as far as I know passed on all the messages, but I thought a check-up call from Ann to see if all was ok would not have come amiss. That said – we all have very happy memories of our stay in Chateau Asturias."

"The journey to the villa from Avignon winds up the mountains, through small villages with treelined views across the valleys. The Chateau is a five minute walk from a typical, French village, with a butcher, two bakers, two convenience stores, small playground and a few cafes. The drive down dirt road to the Chateau gives the right amount of mystery and then you see the building in all its glory, nestled between the trees and two acres of grass (bring a football, cricket stumps or rounders bat). Our four year old ran across the lawn, past the fountain with a newt and goldfish to the electric fence (needed to be there to keep the wild boars from entering during late August only), and then to the river, where he spent hours playing in the stream - this is not for swimming at this point. The truly amazing married housekeepers Elodie (French) and Edward (English) made sure that every request was answered promptly, showed us where there was a secret plunge pool, provided cider (provided by his own fair hands) and generally ensured that this week between 17 members of my family (aged 4 to 81) was one that will live in our memories as an extraordinary moment in time. The Chateau, the interior design, the bedrooms and all that one would expect was first class. We went canyoning (great fun), went swimming in the nearby lake, went tree top climbing (not for the faint hearted) and enjoyed evenings on the terrace with great food and stunning wines. We have to congratulate the owners for putting love and life back into this building. Thank you."

"We were a party of 13 adults and 6 children, 4 under 18ths old. We arrived early and although Marie and her staff were busy preparing they made us very welcome. The chateau is large and spacious. Very French, as we wanted, but with all modern conveniences and a large kitchen. The chateau was very clean the bathrooms nice, hairdryers are provided. It is located within a 30min walk along country roads of the outskirts of Gaillac, a town with many restaurants including one with a Michelin star. It is in the heart of wine country. Marie the owner was extremely helpful. Wine and fresh local produce was a nice welcome gift. The pool area was well above our expectations, the pool was cleaned regularly. We ate breakfast and our evening meal on the veranda overlooking the pool, fantastic. Bikes were available which we used. We didn't hire cars, but would advise that people do if they want more than relaxing by the pool. Taxi to the town is quite expensive considering the distance (4 miles max for £12). Chateau to Airport 250.00 Euros thanks to Marie who struck a bargain on our behalf. The chateau enables you to have a BBQ with plastic plates or a 5 course diner with china on a long banquet table under a large chandelier. We very much enjoyed our stay and the family were disappointed that they were to return home. We would recommend that to enhance the stay of people at the chateau the bathroom towels are upgraded. We thank Marie and the staff for our stay at Chateau Gaillac"

"We enjoyed an wonderful week over Christmas with our large family group in this amazing Chateau. The Chateau is warm and very comfortable with all the charm of a 450 year old castle, huge fireplace, grand living rooms and turrets yet it has all the creature comforts we also expect. It is very suitable for large groups including children as some of the main bedrooms have smaller bedrooms leading off them. Plenty of bathrooms. The grounds are extensive and private. The host and her charming family live on a separate housekeeper's residence within the grounds and are there for any help and advice on the village and the region. She cooked two medieval style feasts for us during our stay (catering for 16 people) which were very memorable. There are a number of lovely villages and towns within 1 hour drive but we had just as much fun hanging around the Chateau and local the walks. The Chateau would be even better in the summer months when the large pool and outdoor terraces could be utilised. I have no hesitation in giving this Chateau a 5 star recommendation!"
