What our customers are saying about our Holiday Cottages In Staffordshire To Rent.

- Mr Smith, August 2018 - verified booking

"An absolutly wonderful week long break in the Peak District with my family. The barn is a wonderfully done conversion, completed last year. It is well presented and clean. The amenties are all you could ask for. Kitchen equipped well, both bedrooms large and comfortable. The master bedroom and bed is huge! You may lose your partner, if so Meg the Farm collie could probably be enticed to go and look for them somewhere on the far side of the bed. Bathroom is contains a sink, toilet and bath/shower. shower has a cubicle at one end of the bath. The living room has TV, digibox and the Wifi allows the use of the Smart TV functionallity. There is also a DVD player. The real fire however provided all the wind down entertainment we needed, that and a good single malt. The Wifi took the pounding from 2 x tech savvy adults and a teenager so its been throughly load tested and works. On the subject of the fire the property has electric radiators upstairs as well as a back boiler for the master bedroom off the fire. There is also underfloor heating if its getting chilly that can be turned on by request. It was summer for us so we made do with the fire more out of cosmetic need than actually being cold. The rear of the property looks out over the fields to the rear. Ask about the Herdwick Sheep you will see bimbling around by the living room window. The front of the property has parking for the barn, a picnic table for eating outside and a space for a barbeque to be lit (disposable BBQ provided as part of the welcome pack). The welcome pack is great, enough to get that first brew done after a journey of any length. Choccie biscuits were provided! The Track is a farm track for the last part of the Journey and the recommendations from the owners are that a 4 x 4 should be considered in the winter months. My Skoda Superb handled it fine, it certainly gave the suspension a work out. The position of the site is great, down in the SW corner of the Peak District (ish) and within easy striking distance of multiple sightseeing areas, walks, Alton Towers and other such things. Be active or relax and kick back, either one is possible here. The owners and their family are lovely. Friendly and always able to answer a query or just have a chat. Meg the collie is also a character to be introduced too. In conclusion the 3 of us loved it, we have already re-booked to try to coincide with lambing season next year. Would I recommend it? Yes."

"Shortest review ever. The title line says it all! But as I have to put more in....... The cottage was renovated last year and it shows. All areas are lovely. Clean and well aired on our arrival. Milk/tea/coffee and a small welcome pack made the first brew easy after the journey up. The lounge will comfortably fit 4 adults with room to breathe and enjoy the log fire. The kitchen is smaller but not a tight squeeze. Enough pots, pans cutlery etc to keep anyone happy. Gas hob and electric oven plus a wide range of kitchen tools and such like. Upstairs are the 2 bedrooms and bathroom/loo. Master bedroom is huge and bedroom 2 is more than reasonable in size. Attachments were visible for a stair gate at the top and bottom of the stairs. The bathroom is a good size with a tub, with shower screen, sink and loo. The entrance has a coat hanging and boot area to keep wet outside clothes out of the main living area. Not needed on this visit but there is underfloor heating downstairs. Upstairs is a combination of electric radiators and a back boiler from the fire for the master bedroom. The barn is well insulated and double glazed so winter would not be a concern I would imagine. Outside there is parking for your car, a picnic table to eat outside and an area you can barbecue in. Views across the moors from the rear of the building and the front looks up the hill following the gravelled drive/farm/track. Sheep in attendance on all sides! (They seem friendly though). Positioned well and within easy striking distance of the various attractions and the Peak District itself. The owners of the property (and the farm) are very friendly. There if you need them and always up for a chat. Ask about the Herdwick Sheep! Also be prepared to meet Meg the collie. She is really friendly and greets you like an old friend. The last part of the drive in is over a farm track. You may want to consider leaving the lowered suspension boy racer mobile at home. My Skoda Superb (sedate family car) handled it OK but the owners do recommend something 4x4 if you are visiting in winter. In conclusion, would My family want to return for another holiday. A unanimous yes! Lambing season a strong contender. Forgot to mention. Booked through Sykes cottages. Painless and easy."

"This cottage is perfect! Not a single fault with it. I turned up with my girlfriend and twin 9 month old boys and what met us was two friendly faces, a beautiful, clean cottage and a warm cosy lit log fire! The owners went out of their way to set up the cots in the second bedroom, explained everything to us about the house that we needed and the little note around the house were a great help with things like how to use the log fire and the heating system etc. For what we got the price was unbelievable. There options to buy other things from the farm as well such as the extra logs or coal and they have a price list for the lamb there too (which we had a shoulder of lamb for our Sunday roast today and it just melted in the mouth, best lamb I’ve ever had!) the bed was comfortable as well, very big! The only advice I would give for this cottage is to take the owners warning seriously....if you’re going there, take some snow socks or chains for your car or have a 4X4 because if it snows, you’re stuck! I have a rear wheel drive, automatic car and if it weren’t for the owners being so amazing and lending me a pair of snow socks for the car I wouldn’t of had any chance of getting out! We will definitely be returning here in the spring to take the twins and help with the lambing and I just can’t wait. Simply the best cottage I’ve been away too and I cannot thank the owners enough for everything!"
