"We stayed in one of the Badger cabins. The cabin itself was great, really authentic looking and with wooden furniture inside it was exactly what we wanted. The four poster bed was comfy and so was the leather sofa (perfect for afternoon naps!). The bathroom was clean and the shower and toilet worked fine. The underfloor heating was incredible, coming in from the harsh cold into what felt like a sauna! We even had to turn it down a couple of times! The surrounding area was great, you could say it was in the middle of nowhere but we went on plenty of nice country walks without any distractions (Although we did end up driving to a few places/shops as they were out of walking distance). The hot tub was amazing, much more spacious than we thought, better than a lot of Spa hot tubs! As it is kept ‘on’ 24/7 you don’t need to wait for it to heat up, just plunge straight in! The jets work well and you can change the colour of the lights - its difficult to find the motivation to get out once you’re in! The kitchen had everything you could possibly need; we bought food from the nearest Asda and ate-in for 2 of 3 the nights we were there. The on-site staff were very friendly and helpful. There was only one minor thing that we noted. The phone signal is non-existent, we had no service or 4G throughout the stay so if you like to call people or use the internet it could be a problem (joining a wifi network was super expensive and not guaranteed to work apparently). This can be seen as a good or a bad thing I suppose. Our suggestion would be to have a direct phone line from the cabins to the reception, only to use for emergencies or for a quick question. Also the main tv could be a little bit bigger, but these are all we could think of in terms of nit picks! Everything else was just what we wanted when we booked it. We really enjoyed our weekend stay and would definitely recommend it to others who are looking for a quiet/ relaxing time away in the open air."

"We were in cabin number 33 (Badger 6) it was ok but the cabin needs a deep clean (lots of cobwebs especially on the outside near the hot tub area). It's a pity that the hot tub was a BIG let down as it had a leak on it where the water level sank below the half way line by end of the day making bathing in the evening an issue. Also the hot tub took ages for the temperature to rise especially after refilling in the mornings so you could not use it properly until the late afternoon. I also personally think that the heater in this hot tub is a bit worn out because the other hot tubs that we have used in the past on this park and other parks heat up very quickly and maintain the heat levels whilst in use where this one struggled to do so. We stayed in the cabin next door last year (Badger 6 number 34) which has the same size hot tub and had no leaks and heated up very quickly and stayed hot during use. Come on Quarry Park get this hot tub fixed properly so your guests can enjoy it without any issues, remember guests pay for a fully working hot tub not a faulty one. Also the dish washer was faulty as the programme button was not working so we had to wash all dishes by hand. I did inform reception of the above issues so hopefully they have made the necessary arrangements to fix everything."

"Very clean house, well equipped, just big enough for family of two adults and two young children (3 and 7). Very close to Churnet Valley railway which our son loved! Children enjoyed playing in the garden, and loved the playground two minutes walk away. (Garden is on a slope and has some fairly steep stone steps, so toddlers would need supervision.) Rotary washing line outdoors under cover of the carport so always dry! Kitchen small but well equipped. If eating with young children, recommend either taking a floor cover or eating in the garden or carport as we did (garden furniture available) as only space to set up the fold-down dining table is in the carpeted lounge. Local shop about 10mins walk and well stocked with essentials."

"This place is special, I've stayed in many Rural Retreat properties over the years and this is one of the best. The property is a new conversion and it's obvious that it's been carefully thought through at the planning stages. The result is stylish decor, quality fixtures and fittings, efficient heating, plentiful hot water. As it was for a booking at Christmas I scrutinised the particulars before I booked and I can honestly say the property exceeded my expectations. It's a little gem and I'm already planning a return visit. Being able to walk around the vast grounds was also a bonus. Good luck finding the cutlery drawer!!"

"The best cottage we have stayed in - and there have been many! The Bothy has been beautifully transformed into a fantastically spacious home from home. The furnishings and fittings are high spec, and reflect the original building's purpose. We loved quirky touches such as the metal dining table and the barrel side table. Also the designs on the curtains and blinds, and the standard lamps in the sitting room.We appreciated the lovely hamper and toiletries, which were a real treat. The standard of housekeeping was extremely impressive - we are going to return in the new year!"
