What our customers are saying about our Holiday Cottages In Staffordshire To Rent.
Mrs Head - verified booking
"Although there is not very much room for dining indoors it is an ideal pied a terre for a couple (and well-behaved dog) who like dining out. There are two very good eating places quite nearby. The drive way is a bit bumpy but I understand the owner is going to extend the outside patio area to provide further comfort for guests. The owner is terrific. She goes to a lot of trouble to be helpful and accommodating. It really is a charming barn conversion in a delightful area. I should add that although the property is open plan with no internal doors a stair gate has been provided which makes it clear to a smart pooch that the upstairs bedroom is out of bounds. It might also be useful to know that we brought a few carpet squares for our pup as the laminate floors are quite slippery for dogs. Excellent behaviour from pets is vital as there's livestock nearby. There is quite easy access to beautiful countryside all around by car. Our stay was too short to investigate local walks."

"Yes the furniture was comfortable but the heating system is antiquated and needs seriously updating. The heater in the en suite was not working and the owner was completely unconcerned when we phoned to report the fact. There is no instruction book for the cooker. The cottage appears unloved and uncared for. The oven was dirty and the cottage needs a thorough spring clean. There was no access to the back yard where a gutter or overflow was dripping badly in heavy rain. The information book in the sitting room is out of date and we were extremely disappointed to discover when we phoned the owner to check that there were no recycling facilities available. We are frankly amazed that Sykes are prepared to tolerate this. In the end we brought the recycling home with us. We do not support putting clean recyclable material in the general rubbish and are surprised that you do. I await your comments before I consider booking with your organisation again."

"A beautiful place to make base for all the places to visit. Extremely comfortable, a real home from home. Also with plenty of outdoor space to spread out and relax. I will certainly book this place again without any hesitation.Upon entering the cottage there was a musty smell which appeared to come from upstairs and was still there at the end of the week despite leaving doors and windows open. The kitchen utilities i.e. oven gloves were filthy, scissors and lots of the utensils were rusty and unusable, bread knife and other knives were very blunt, we had to go out and buy a bread knife and oven gloves for us to use. The taps on the bath were worn and leaking when operating and the cold tap knob kept falling off. The bedroom was comfortable as was the lounge. The outside seating area was ok. We had a nice holiday but we do not feel the cottage was up to Sykes normal standard."

"I think that people would like to know that. The information advertised on the Sykes website regarding pets was useful i.e that dogs must be kept on a lead when outside S106011 as the owners have livestock and also that pets should be kept off the furniture. Cottage was in a beautiful, peaceful location and was decorated to a very high standard. It was exceptionally clean upon arrival and the little things provided for our dog was very handy i.e the fluffy dog blanket and towel and the fresh water in a bowl that was left out for our arrival. Cottage has lovely views across the countryside and the owners were very friendly and told us a lot of helpful information about the local area. Cottage is close to several lovely towns. Would definately recommend."

"Lots of good walks or cycling routes. As I was holidaying on my own I very much appreciated the friendliness of the owners who are more than willing to give help or information if needed. The gated entrance to the drive (zapper provided) was a bonus. S106011 was refurbished in 2017 and the kitchen and bathroom are especially well fitted and equipped. A good heating system (not noisy) or log fire keeps you warm on cooler days. I really enjoyed watching the antics of the horses in the nearby field as well as seeing the buzzard family who nest nearby. I have stayed in a number of different cottages over the years and I would rate this one as excellent. Definitely on the list of cottages to return to."
