"Outside of cottage, window frames, gutters etc were filthy and very disappointing, also lots of bulbs blown inside so very dark in some areas of kitchen and upstairs corridors. Lovely house and such a shame housekeeping let it down - this one needs a good tidy up if staying on your brochure as worst one we have had with dirty outside areas etc. There was an explaination in their paperwork inside saying please excuse the outside as we do not clean as we want to encourage wildlife !! I can understand the borders etc, but not filthy window frames, things growing around light fittings and out of gutters, and pots left to look abandoned - very unpleasant. Lots of unsightly broken tiles in entrance conservatory too - we wondered what on earth we were going in to. Not worth the money we paid for it at all with that presentation but a lovely outlook on lake. One outside area had red/ white caution tape across it to show a steep fall - perhaps a tidy fence would look better and take little effort."

"S16016 is a fantastic venue for a 10 / 12 group. Warm and cosy for January, with 5 excellent bedrooms, wonderful views over the Peak District, and a short stroll to the nearby pub in Butterton. Good kitchen equipment made some holiday baking very doable. Also we liked the small second living room, a lovely quiet chill out room when the main group were in the larger main living room. The owner lives just up the lane, and was very helpful, she'd thought of everything! Our table tennis and pool skills also improved with some use of the games room! Perfect spot for local walks around the Manifold Valley, Thor's Cave, the lovely Peak District village of Wetton etc. And a log fire and warm home from home to come home to! All in all perfect, we will be back ( and no we are not related to the owners!!)"

"Had such a lovely weekend here. We were a group of 12 friends celebrating my birthday. The view is great, and it's very private location. Comfortable rooms and very spacious- living area is great. Noise travels easily through the house and only the one shower- but still 10/10 and great value. We didn't get chance to meet the owner until we left- but everything we needed was there. Could walk straight from the cottage into the valley- we walked to Thors Cave and Wetton (good pub). Drive to Chatsworth house took 30 mins. Make sure to order wood if you want to light the fire- which is the most impressive fire I've seen! And take towels. Have been looking around for a place to stay for our next trip... but more than likely will just come back here!"

"Had a wonderful time at this lovely cottage which is ideally located to visit the beautiful Peak District and Staffordshire. The cottage very quaint and is situated in a rural setting, which was peaceful and beautiful. We loved our time here and would recommend it to family and friends. The only qualm I had was that there were cobwebs around all the windows on the inside and smelled a bit musty. Otherwise, it was clean and well equipped. We struggled with a local supermarket for everyday provisions and had to buy them on route or when visiting a larger town. We stayed for a short break of 4 nights but had to pay the full price for the week as it was peak season.Apart from that we had a great time."

"This cottage has the enviable position of being completely detached, yet within easy traveling distance of nearby towns, attractions and scenery. The views directly through the windows of the cottage are charming and the little track up to it from the main road provides privacy and seclusion, which makes for a romantic setting. The cottage inside was comfortable and well equipped, it had a pleasant lounge with triple aspect windows, which allowed for sun to stream in any time of the day. The double bed was very comfortable and there was ample storage space; outside the track to the cottage was firm and the parking was excellent. We had a very pleasant holiday!"
