"I booked the three cottages at Brookhurst Farm - Cedar, Elm and Pine last year, to accommodate a party of several families so that we could celebrate a themed birthday party for two of our family members throughout a special weekend. People came from Wirral, Leeds, York and from Norfolk so the venue was an ideal gathering place for our large group, whose ages ranged from 69 years to three weeks. We found the cottages, with their communal courtyard and garden, an ideal, magical and extremely comfortable place to meet together and celebrate! It was also a great location to visit other lovely places of interest, namely, on this occasion, the Tissington Well Dressing, Ilam Park, Ye Olde Crown Hotel in Waterhouses, Ashbourne and local countryside walks - fantastic! The 8 year old birthday girl was also able to go to Alton Towers with her immediate family before returning to Norfolk. I can only sum up, on behalf of everyone who attended, that it a was a marvellous and memorable weekend. Wonderful! Thanks to all who made it possible. May 2012. "

"Outside of cottage, window frames, gutters etc were filthy and very disappointing, also lots of bulbs blown inside so very dark in some areas of kitchen and upstairs corridors. Lovely house and such a shame housekeeping let it down - this one needs a good tidy up if staying on your brochure as worst one we have had with dirty outside areas etc. There was an explaination in their paperwork inside saying please excuse the outside as we do not clean as we want to encourage wildlife !! I can understand the borders etc, but not filthy window frames, things growing around light fittings and out of gutters, and pots left to look abandoned - very unpleasant. Lots of unsightly broken tiles in entrance conservatory too - we wondered what on earth we were going in to. Not worth the money we paid for it at all with that presentation but a lovely outlook on lake. One outside area had red/ white caution tape across it to show a steep fall - perhaps a tidy fence would look better and take little effort."

"Could not fault this accommodation. Exactly as expected it was very peaceful and had lovely views. The track from the main road to the bungalow is not for the faint hearted, but for us it added to the charm of our 'get away from it all' break. Very limited mobile phone signal, as is the case for most of the area in the hills. No wi-fi.... not sure how I felt about that, but I was aware before we went so certainly not a complaint!Definitely recommend The Winking Man and The Knights Table, both offered great quality food. For essentials, and great produce do call in to the Flash Bar Stores! Finally the owner was lovely and called by with absolutely delicious cake, which was a welcome surprise. Would definitely book again if visiting the area in future."

"The hosts were absolutely lovely and helpful. The cottage was spacious and very nice, lovely sofas, enough for 10 people. The hot tub was great. The kitchen was big enough for everyone to sit and eat and had all necessary mod cons including dishwasher which was great. Out of the 3 bathrooms 2 had hand held showers over the bath which would be better with a shower head bracket on the wall. The other is a walk in shower which was great. The farm had horses and some other animals around which we could view and the scenery from the cottage was lovely. All in all it was really good and we would certainly go again."

"We had a great weekend celebrating my wife's birthday in this amazing property with our extended family. The property is well appointed and with enough space so that even when fully occupied there is enough room for everyone to relax. There is the feeling of space and luxury in the house which really made our break special. The surroundings are idyllic with the views to the reservoir and countryside and access to the Roaches for walks. There's a cafe/tea room within walking distance but other amenities (pub, shops) are a drive. Whilst that is a downside the facilities at the house really do make up for this."
