"A very nice cottage in an ideal location to see the beautiful welsh coast. Clean and tidy, with a lovely decked area at the front of the cottage with hot tub and bbq available, however I feel that the advertisement doesn’t stress how close the owners are living to the cottage, it doesn’t have the private feeling we were hoping for. We were greeted with what I felt was a very frosty reception, bev was very nice but was very quick to lay down the rules, such as clean the bbq after yourselves, numerous amount of hot tub rules, no glass, we were told to pick the pine needles out (hot tub under a pine tree) and my girlfriend was told to remove her make up. We had driven 5 hours with a dog and a 7 month old baby during the heatwave we are having. We probably weren’t ready for this onslaught. Dog owners please read the small print. You can not leave your dog in the cottage for even a moment. We took our dog out with us on the first day in the 28 degree heat where she struggled immensely, so we tried to leave her in the cottage on the second day only to be called to be told we are breaking the terms and conditions and to return to the property immediately. also many of the near by beaches are no dog zones, so therefore we had a dog that couldn’t stay in the cottage or go on the beach?? As the owners of the cottage are dog owners themselves I thought they would have some sympathy during the hot weather. One last thing, if the health and safety had one look at the high chair that was provided for the baby bev would be selling her hot tub to pay the fine. In a nutshell we wouldn’t return because we felt we couldn’t relax in the strict environment and I’d personally recommend this cottage to the elderly hill walking type"

"Bev and Ali were exceptionally kind and helpful during our stay at Anchor cottage .We were exhausted on arrival getting caught up in several accidents on the motorway, and our 4 hour journey took 9 hours in searing heat.Bev had a bottle of wine chilling and the hot tub switched on for us when we finally arrived and both were exceedingly welcome! The very hot weather meant that we tended to do short trips returning to the cottage to cool off during the hottest parts of the day.We and our dog found the many dog friendly beaches too hot for comfort for any length of time. The nearby towns of Laugharne and Llansteffan were beautiful and we visited both several times enjoying very good food in both Anchor cottage was very well equipped and spotlessly clean and we would definitely like to return to explore more of this beautiful areaThanks again Bev and Ali for making us feel so welcome"

"We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at No 5 Gerrdi Mair. We were met by Ron & Mary who showed us round and supplied milk, bread, tea & coffee to start us off. The accommodation was spacious and comfortable and the rural location was ideal for exploring the area in all directions. We can recommend visiting Kidwelly & Laugharne castles and The National Botanic Garden of Wales. The nearby shop was very useful and the local fish and chips were very good. Also worth a mention is the road surfaces in this part of South Wales were extremely good! All in all a really good holiday."

"Nothing to do with Sykes or the property owner, but the water pressure on the site and therefore in the cabins was poor. The shower therefore had no power to the water that came out of the head. Personally, we would have preferred the space that has been given to the sauna to have been allocated to the shower, the shower cubicle was very small with not much room to move and put shampoo etc. It's a shame that in our opinion the property was great with the exception of the shower of which for us is an important part of our accommodation requirements."

"We were a group of 5 adults (4 females and 1 male). We had a fantastic break at the cottage. It was pristine and perfect for our needs. We really apreciated the carton of milk that was available on our arrival as we had travelled about 270 miles. The property met all our needs and more as it was in a quiet, peaceful location and had a lovely garden to sit in. The weather was beautiful and hot all week. None of us had been to the area before but the information provided in the house gave us enough to enable us to decide where to go."
