"Overall a pleasant stay, however, some little issues: As already mentioned in a review of september the heating next in the lounge doesn´t work. This is no problem on a normal day, but it became a problem during days like our arrival day which was stormy, rainy and cold. The cottage felt really drafty and uncomfortable when we arrived and it took us at least two hours not to feel cold any more. The electric oven is not really powerful enough for the whole room as the ceilings are high. Also the loose hot water tap in the bathroom hasn´t been fixed since september and could hardly be used. I wouldn´t call it a problem, but it is an inconvenience. No recycling was possible, quite a surprise. Cobwebs are ok for me but if you have a problem with that this cottage is definitely not yours. All in all the cottage has been tastefully restored and equipped well, but it is not being looked after too carefully if I compare it to the other cottage in Battle where we stayed over easter. It was tolerably clean.Location is stunning,in the middle of nowhere, you hear birds singing morning and evening and see lots of squirrels. I found it a bit uncanny at night when it gets extremely dark and the rest of the building, incl ground floor, is completely uninhabitated but produces some strange noises.I would recommend it for the summer but would refrain from going there when it´s cold."

"This little cottage is perfect for a solo traveller with a dog or two. The location is ideal for a dog-friendly holiday. The back gate opens straight onto the cliff path, with a mostly-enclosed park next door and dog-friendly beaches just down the cliff. The local cafes and restaurants are almost all dog-friendly, so no need to cook. The area feels very safe, which is important when traveling alone. The cottage is cosy. It's perfectly big enough for one person, or for two petite people who really like each other! There are simple kitchen facilities ideal for snacks, although eating main meals out is easier (who wants to cook on holiday anyway!). The bed's comfortable, but don't bring your entire wardrobe, as storage space for clothes is very limited. The enclosed garden is ideal for fur babies. The local train does go past the front gate every so often, but even my noise-sensitive dog stopped barking at it after the third train went past, so nothing to worry about there.Everything was nice and clean, and the milk, teabags, wine, biscuits and cakes were a lovely personal touch that you don't get from a self-catering resort. Keith and Sarah were very attentive hosts, always nearby if they were needed."

"02 phone reception no signal most of the timeInternet slow and patchy, we could not check e mails for the 2 weeks we were thereWhen we arrived we found a plug with the top missing on top of the fire with bare terminals exposed. We left it with a danger label on. The following problems were found: The light above the sink did not work. The hot water tap in the bathroom sink was very loose. The loo seat was very loose and would occasionaly fall down whilst I was standing doing a pee. The storage heater in the lounge did not work. The floors and carpets were dirty and there were cobwebs galore. The glass shelf over the bathroom sink was loose. There were no recycling facilities. We were told that we would be contacted for the sheet and towel change on the middle Saturday so we stopped in until 11 am and we were back by 4pm but no one contacted us."

"This was a lovely holiday, the accommodation was very high spek, the owners were lovely and the large coffee & walnut cake was much appreciated,it was very clean and warm, had everything that you would use at home and then some, only a slight fly in the ointment was the sofas,if your feet were on the floor youcouldn't lean back as the back was very slopey and you felt like you were laying down and as the seat cushions were very wide and you leaned against the back your feet ended up in the air we adapted by laying with our feet up the length of the sofa, also the bathroom door in the lounge area had a gap in it as if the door had dropped and if someone used it it didn't smell very nice apart from that it was a brilliant property and would go there again,it was right out in the country and very quiet which we loved, weather was sunshine for the full 2 weeks."

"We had a delightful stay. The barn was full of character, very attractive and a fantastic and peaceful rural location. We enjoyed the cycle rides each morning before breakfast. There are some interesting National Trust properties to visit, the Bluebell Steam Railway and the historic town of Lewis. The South Downs are beautiful. We enjoyed Eastbourne, but would not recommend Brighton. The beds were comfortable. The only problem is the size of the seats of the sofas, we all felt the distance from front to back was too wide, therefore unless you had massively long thighs you ended up with a twingeing back. The family were kind and helpful, the huge chocolate cake left for us to enjoy was much appreciated. If we visit this area again we would definitely stay at S13943."
