"My wife and I rented this exceptional property for a week in June. On arrival we found the property to be spotlessly clean and easy to operate. The kitchen was well-equipped with modern appliances. There was a fridge of sufficient size to accommodate a week’s fresh groceries. The gas cooker hob was highly efficient and the electric oven was pristine – always a good sign. In the utility room there was a freezer with a washing machine and tumble dryer – ideal for those intending to stay for more than a week. The spacious living room had a comfortable settee and chair. There was supplementary lighting which meant it was easy to read after dark. There was a wood burning stove but we didn’t need to use it in June. The kind owners had provided us with a huge basket of logs if we wanted to make use of it. The dining area had a table with four chairs – as with the rest of the house this furniture was top quality and in keeping with the rustic theme. The bed rooms were relatively spacious with plenty of storage. Linens were of a very good quality and we found the bed to be perfect for a quality sleep. It was a sheer delight to wake each morning with a sumptuous view over the rolling hills, without any other sounds than bird song. The shower in the bathroom was particularly powerful and there was always plenty of hot water. The property also had a toilet downstairs – a useful feature for a larger group of guests. Wi-Fi is strong and reliable. There were many features of this property which indicated the care and thought the owners have given to ensure the well being of guests. There is a selection of DVDS and leaflets about things to do in the local area. We were welcomed to the property with a large sponge cake which was absolutely delicious. We enjoyed our visit to Northumbria immensely, with its opportunities to visit traditional villages and towns. We did lots of touring in the hills – there is so much to do, especially for those interested in nature and history. The owners are to be commended for providing such an attractive and cosy holiday cottage. My wife and I have stayed in a huge number of self catering properties over the years and this is without doubt one of the very best. I would recommend this property to anyone wishing to visit this gorgeous area."

"The Claret jug was very good, good food & serviceThe lodge lovelyHotel and lodge staff wonderfulFacilities great Kids had a wonderful time Over all a cracking stayWe would love to stay again however :One area which needs serious attention !!!The main restaurant was appalling Very understaffed No service what so ever, not even the basics.they pointed to the table that we had been allocated no one showed us to the table. We weren't asked if we would like a drink until we asked,we had to ask for menus, our drinks came after we finished our starters. The table next to us got there drinks after they finished there main courses, food was very average ( wedding food ) The bill was wrong, we questioned what the wrong items where but all the items were for items on previous menus, so we paid anyway as they couldn't itemise it all. The staff were laughing between themselves when we left. No one even said thanks or goodbye !!!No Management in sight !!!Will never visit the restaurant again !!!Such a shame that this one area let the rest downWonderful stay, as above we would love to return but we will give Hadrian's a miss next time"
