"Absolutely nothing wrong with the cottage really and the location is great, specifically the access to the beach being just across the road. The fault is with the windows....whether open or closed they let in the same amount of noise and, being on the main street through town, constant noise of cars, etc during the day. This is bearable, but the pub across the road has karaoke night, music nights, etc which may as well be playing in the cottage until midnight. No chance of relaxing or sleeping. Every night there are youths skateboarding on the bandstand across the road, usually from midnight to 1.30am. This persistent noise has resulted in little sleep and, in all honestly, in need of a holiday!! The cottage is great however, though the downstairs bedroom smells very damp from the en-suite shower, and the town of Newbiggin itself is lovely....pick a different café each day! The big plus is the beach which is very expansive and, even with 7 days of sun, was frequently only with the 4 of us visiting it...a private beach. Sorry for the negatives, it's a quirky cottage that I wanted to pick up and put somewhere else, but if you want to sleep and unwind this is not the place for you."

"Did not stay, the district/location was really grim. Very misleading advertisement. We had to find another cottage at very short notice, also a "B.&B". Lost a lot of money & intend to go to our solicitor. We did go into the cottage and looked around, the owner had made it quite pretty and it was clean, though would not have been particularly comfortable. There was noise from the traffic. You had to go outside to reach the "enclosed garden" and it was unkempt, overgrown and dirty, the enclosing wall topped with spikes, or other no climb deterrants. We saw shuttered shops with barred gates, razor wired & broken glass topped walls and a gate painted with "no climb" paint, all within a few yards of the cottage. The pub' was so rough we would not have dared to go in. It would have been impossible to either reverse in or out of the "secure off-road parking space" due to it being on a bend of a busy road. We thought long and hard before the decision not to stay. But the area was quite frightening and unsafe not to mention unpleasant. I think I have indicated the "good points" in my 1--10 choices. Hope this is sufficient information."

"Lovely cottage, centrally located , but hidden away. Couple of mins walk to pub/Indian and grocery shops, 6/7 minute walk to the harbour. Great base for exploring the coast, especially Farne Islands, Bamburgh and Holy Island. As a keen bird watcher plenty of local sites with a lovely little reserve Hauxley just outside the town run by the Northumberland Wildlife trust and a place where you can see Red Squirrels.Convenient for train as well if you fancy a trip to Newcastle or Edinburgh as Alnmouth station is 10 minute drive. We went to York which was 90 mins. Another great thing is to walk from Amble following the course of the River Coquet to Warkworth which is a lovely village with interesting shops (super art gallery - Fenwicks), a great castle and interesting church. Plenty of pubs to eat in as well.If there is a small negative parking in the road is difficult. Very little space when we arrived and the neighbours all seem to have 'their' spot which is frowned upon if you park there. It wasn't a big deal as I parked on the road adjoining which was leass than a minute away."

"Really quirky little cottage but unfortunately it had a lot of negatives. Plenty of room for four people with two good sized bedrooms and two bathrooms, however the living space is tiny. Small microwave, absolutely no space to prepare food ( so much so that the toaster was in a cupboard!) And my absolute pet hate; two tumblers, two wine glasses, four spoons etc.By far the worst aspect of our stay was the noise. The windows are so ineffective that it sounds like they are permanently open. The pub across the road had karaoke till 12am, and we could hear every word as if we were in the same room. The cottage is on a corner and heavy lorries we’re driving past at speed all night. The gate where you can park you car, does not properly close, so not only is your car not secure but the gate bangs loudly every few minutes all night! I would advise that unless you are one of those rare people who can survive on two hours sleep, this cottage is not for you. We booked for three nights, but came home after one."

"We loved our stay at Casa Nostro, the cottage really does have everything.... books, dvd's, board games, children's indoors and outdoors toys and a fully equipped kitchen. There were no issues during our stay. If I had to say anything about the property I would just say the room with the bunk beds is through the living room, kitchen and dining room away from the other bedrooms and has some damp. Also the kitchen although has everything only has one cuboard for you to put your own things. There is so much there you have to leave your food on the side which isn't ideal. There are more glasses than a pub!Overall we enjoyed a fantastic family holiday. With a supermarket and lovely pub within walking distance and all the fabulous attractions of Northumberland within easy reach via car."
