"We booked S14330 as we stayed here a few years ago and enjoyed it back then also.Location-wise it is only around a mile to the beach and less to Old Shanklin, which is a pretty, chocolate-box, tourist centre with lots of coffee shops, pubs and little shops to buy sweets and other memorabilia. The beach in Shanklin is also very good, with lots to do and the Steamer Inn serves good food. The main town centre has plenty of shops (two Co-op supermakets) and takeaways, all within 20 minutes walk. If you are reasonably fit you can leave your car parked and walk everywhere (that's what we mostly did) and it is a very pleasant area for walking indeed. In terms of the property itself, although the garden is very small (and with steps with sharp edges making it not ideal for toddlers) it is opposite a field/rec with woods so this is really not a problem. My boys were safe and happy playing footie on here and it really has a great, tranquil atmosphere, perfect for children.Inside, the property is clean and spacious and generally well-equipped. The beds are comfy and parking is not a problem. The kitchen is reasonably supplied, complete with dishwasher and washer/dryer, though it could do with some pyrex/dishware for cooking meals such as casseroles. Also, their pans have metal handles which can give you a nasty shock (metal conducts heat, remember!) if you are not careful. A welcome feature is that they have a separate fridge and freezer so, if you purchase frozen food, you have lots of storage for it, something many other properties we have stayed at have lacked. Unfortunately, the shelves on the fridge door are either broken or missing which is a bit annoying if you want somewhere to store your milk. Although the only way for this to be rectified would be a new fridge you do not expect a broken appliance in a holiday rental and this is a shame as little details like this spoil what is otherwise a great holiday cottage. In terms of entertainment, there is a TV, DVD-player (with a collection of DVDs - we brought our own), HiFi and Sky box, though the latter is without a subscription so you can't actually watch much beyond Freeview. They have Wi-Fi with a fast internet connection (we were streaming films in HD) but it was occasionally down, though this was clearly a new install so I am assuming this was just 'teething problems'.The heating system is very good and there are lots of bathrooms, making this a good location for a family. They even supply stair-gates and a travel-cot (not that we needed either). The property recycles, though when we were there they had run out of the white recycling bags, which required a trip to the local Co-op, so not a big issue.Overall a good place to stay and one we would certainly recommend to friends and family and we would have no problems staying here again. Just a few, minor issues (all mentioned in the review) prevented us from giving this a 10."

"This is a great wee cottage, although you might not think that when you first see it, stuck in the middle of terraced houses. My wife and I stayed here for two weeks from late June. Inside, first impressions were of a well looked after; clean, tidy and well equipped cottage with no hint of any nasty odours. The information booklet was well laid out and the cooker, washing machine easy to use. The shower was a treat and there were ample towels to cover our two week stay. There is a double bedroom downstairs and a twin room upstairs. Outside there is a small fenced in garden area with; rattan sofa and chairs, a table with two chairs and a rotary dryer. We loved the garden with its tubs of plants. There is even a hose and tap if you want to give the plants a wee drink. Location wise this place is right where you would want to be. The beach is only 5 minutes away in either direction. There is also a Sainsbury and Co-op about two minutes away. I would recommend this cottage for any family up to 4."

"We booked this property as it was the only one available at the time that was large enough for our party of 16. Not being able to check in until 4pm is not very user friendly. The property looks lovely, but I don't know how it got a 5 star rating. All the mattresses are old uncomfortable and need replacing. Some of the sheets are a little shabby and need replacing. The kitchen utensils are not suitable for a property that sleeps 20, as the pots and pans are tiny and barely enough to cook for 6 people and old and worn. only 1 bin liner and 3 dishwasher tablets were left and not suitable equipment to use and clean the barbecue. Only half a toilet roll in each loo. We had to go out and buy loo paper, kitchen paper, cleaning things and bin bags....this is hardly 5 star. It feels like the owner wants to keep the cleaning deposit...which I am still waiting to get back. Please advise when I will get the deposit back."

"We stayed at S37352 as a family of three with a 22 month old. The property is spacious and well equipped with all the amenities we needed, including tea, coffee and sugar. It was lovely to be welcomed with a pint of milk and custard creams. We had an issue with the travel cot on arrival but within 30mins of us leaving a message, the property agent text to advise they would arrange for a new one to be delivered so excellent customer service. I was slightly worried about the number of reviews on the leaking shower but I’m pleased to say it’s been fixed and it’s much larger than in the photo! Probably one of the best showers! The parking for the property is on a shared driveway. We had an estate and as long as we parked close to the garage on the left it was fine for the neighbor to get in&out. The master bedroom was very spacious and has a very large comfortable bed."

"Beautiful property in a lovely location. The mattress in the double bedroom on the first floor needs replacing (very uncomfortable). The biggest let down was the cleanliness. It looked like the cleaners had just skimmed over everything with a dirty wet cloth, so worktops, dining table, television, even the windows had dirty smear marks on them. There was a guest book to write reviews in, in the cottage and the disappointment on the cleanliness was mentioned by most visitors. Don't really understand why this is being ignored. The owners must be paying a company to clean & that company is letting them down. We didn't complain & we would book this property again, but would call someone out to the property on the day of arrival if it was dirty again. If it wasn't for the mattress & cleanliness, we would have rated this property 10 out of 10."
