"We were very grateful for the owners finally rearranging our arrival and departure times as the cottage was empty the week before (we were driving up from Cornwall and needed to be at an appointment early morning). However, getting any commutation with the owners during the week before our visit was almost impossible as they wouldn’t return my calls as promised on their answer service. The cottage is nice and safe for dogs but it had not had a proper deep clean for a while. There was dust so thick under the bed that we had to clean our cases before putting them in our car, stains on taps and in sink, stuff left in freeze box that also needed a defrost as it could not be closed. There were crumbs around the toaster and under the tray it rests on. The sofa covers provided for the protection against dog damage were very smelly and unusable, not that we needed them as our dogs had their own beds. We washed these covers on the last day for the next guests. When staying in any accommodation guests don’t like to think someone else has stayed there before nor do we want to see any evidence of anyone else apart from an entry in the guestbook. The property has nice little touches such as a dog shower in the garden but needs a doormat big enough to stand on, no matter how hard you try you can’t stand on what is provided and shut the door behind and without any porch or outside rain cover it became a big issue with damp floors on damp days. The downside to our stay and why we will not return was that the owners stuck a hand written notice to the outside door while we were in and watching tv asking us not to leave the heating on when we went out. We had left it on low, at 15c, as it had snowed overnight. The owners reason for the complaint was that they “pay a lot for LPG”. Well we had paid to stay and it was the week before Christmas and you can check the news about it being freezing cold and a Yellow weather warning. Up until this point we would have booked again and had started the process as soon as we arrived but the note left a bad feeling; we’re not wasteful and know only too well about environmental issues but it was bitterly cold and we had paid to stay and that had included heating. The thermostat was left on 15c, if it had kicked in during the day that’s because it was cold and there was lying snow. The A19 had been closed due to the weather that night. So to sum it up;nice place if a little small, safe garden and stunning views, shame about the owners inability to communicate as this can make or break a stay. Positive contact with any guest is always important. Unless a guest trashes a property it is best to say nothing."

" Me and my boyfriend stayed at Saddle Cottage on 31/03/17 - 4/4/17 we were met by Nicola and her mum when we arrived and they showed us around the cottage. They had left us home made scones with homemade jam and butter which was delish, the cottage was modern through out and very spacious and cosy (especially with the wood burner on) the bed was very comfy in the main bedroom, the location of this cottage was perfect as it sits right on the path for cleveland way and the village of Osmotherley was just on the right of the cottage. The best thing about this place is that there are lots of walks right on the doorstep. There are 3 pubs in the village and we went to all 3 and they were amazing but our fave was the queen catherine, we can not wait to return to Osmotherley "

"Lovely, cosy cottage. Perfect location being so close to Thirsk and all its amenities like supermarkets and small interesting shops. The White Horse chippie does a great fish and chips. Easy driving distance to lots of places of interest ....Sutton Bank is within 10 minutes and it does have just about the best view in England. The white horse at Kilburn, pretty Helmsley, Ripon, Fountains Abbey and lots more were within a half-hour drive. The cottage was easy to find, 10 minutes out of Thirsk, but was peaceful with lovely country views. Very clean and tidy with everything we needed. One suggestion from us, to make organising clothes easier, would be door hooks (or a coatstand tucked in the corner) in the twin bedroom. We had a lovely break at Abbot's Close Cottage, definitely recommend it, and would book again."

"The holiday house was excellent and once we knew what roads to use was easy to get into Ripon and beyond. The house was well presented and everything was thought about and appreciated. We needed a ground floor bedroom and shower with WC because of my husband's disabilities so we had to pay for a larger house due his requirements but we were aware that this would have to be more expensive as we wanted to be in this particular area. On a previous booking in Wales beds were not made up as we had stated 2 occupancy so we put 4 now to be assured of the extra room we require due to disabilities. No faults with this house as we had choices and knew we could have invited friends if required. I have said we will not return but no fault to the house just that we like to tour different areas."

"Lovely little cottage, which has been tastefully decorated & kitted out and was in an ideal location for us. The owner was extremely helpful, flexible & accommodating. Cottage was well supplied with 'extras' such as a nice packet of cookies, books, DVDs puzzles & games, as well as some useful 'basics' such as washing up liquid, soap, dishwasher capsules, teabags & pepper/salt. Lots of helpful information in the welcome folder - just wish we'd read the bit about alternative bedding earlier, as my husband's allergic to feathers, so spent quite a bit of the time sneezing & wheezing! We thought the only thing that we would change would be to update & change the layout of the bathroom, to give a little more space."
