"Thank you for the opportunity to stay in your wonderful house “The firs”! The owner contact with Kate was warm and very welcoming. The house was well equipped with all the necessary things we need for our stay. The weather was very “British” but perfect for the fun diving adventures and hiking in the Yorkshire national park, for crabbing at Withby and driving with – our son says – The Harry Potter Train.I would highly recommend the house equipment with dish washer, washing machine, lovely and quiet bed rooms with comfortable beds and large property around the house. The house is placed in the hart of the small village Helmsley, with short way in the morning to the bakery, food market and sometimes the fresh market in Helmsley with fruits, vegetables, meat and cheese. Thanks for your hospitality and sharing your home with us."

"Lovely, cosy cottage. Perfect location being so close to Thirsk and all its amenities like supermarkets and small interesting shops. The White Horse chippie does a great fish and chips. Easy driving distance to lots of places of interest ....Sutton Bank is within 10 minutes and it does have just about the best view in England. The white horse at Kilburn, pretty Helmsley, Ripon, Fountains Abbey and lots more were within a half-hour drive. The cottage was easy to find, 10 minutes out of Thirsk, but was peaceful with lovely country views. Very clean and tidy with everything we needed. One suggestion from us, to make organising clothes easier, would be door hooks (or a coatstand tucked in the corner) in the twin bedroom. We had a lovely break at Abbot's Close Cottage, definitely recommend it, and would book again."

"This cottage is very pleasant in a very picturesque village, complete with free range sheep and a good pub for meals (but no shop for milk/papers/ bread etc) , on the edge of the moors. The rooms are good with a comfortable spacious lounge, two good bathrooms, good rear garden for sitting out, excellent WiFi and wide choice of channels on the satellite TV. No mobile signal in the cottage but there is a landline and a mobile signal is available 100 yards up the road. No parking at the cottage except immediately across the road at the village hall for a short period for unloading/loading purposes. Any other parking is up the road, perhaps 3 mins away, in the pub car park. Not a big problem but perhaps the description of the cottage does not make this aspect of staying at the cottage very clear."

"House and pool were great for us. Some problems with various things - fridge doors didn't seal closed so stuff got hot, Window in upstairs bedroom had no gutter so rain dripped down from roof into room via open window, loo seats were loose and turned round in use. Curtain in downstairs room over door had to be lifted to open door (too long) and there were many dead insects under it. We completed the maintenance book for all things wrong so hopefully they will be fixed. Accommodation was good and we found plenty of spaces for such a large group of 16 with ages 2.5 - 75 yrs. We would go back if opportunity arose. Our main problem was outside seating was poor and there was no shade. Also, no place outside which was grassed over and suitable for children to play."

"The property was absolutely stunning. We were a party of 8 and spent the New Year in at Cherry Tree House. It was perfect. We had a fabulous dinner party in the gorgeous kitchen on NYE and then went into the lounge and played party games and then let the New Year in. Everything was done to a high specification even down to the crockery and kitchen utensils. Harry the owner is a great guy. I would definitely recommend you try this property. You won't be disappointed. We will be back. Helmsley is also such a lovely town. Handy for country walks with the dog and also not too far for a trip to the coast. "
