"The location is brilliant if you want to be a short drive from a lot of beaches in Cornwall and Bude. Very short drive down to the beach at Crackington Haven.Property has a lot of charm. In the lounge there is a slight musty smell, but that is too be expected of a property of this age in the damp weather we had experienced. The whole property could do with a lot of TLC and a deep clean. Unfortunately we found quite a lot of dog hair, windows and general cleanliness was pretty grubby. The kitchen was more than ample and modern. If anything it has too much equipment in the cupboards. There was no where to actually store food. A lot of the utensils etc.... had seen better days. For example there were more there was a draw full of knives, of which the bread knife was rusty and the others were blunt. I think they could do with throwing out some of the old stuff and keeping a smaller selection of the best items. The oven inside was dirty and hadn't been cleaned. The appliances were all modern and in good working order. Advantage is it had a washing machine and a tumble dryer in a utility room and two bathrooms. The TV seem to work ok, but whenever we had bad weather we lost the signal. We had no phone signal, but was extremely handy to have a good broadband wifi connection. There were no logs for the fire, which it states on the property description. At the end of the week we discovered a brilliant outside public play area behind he village hall directly across the road."

"Thatch Cottage is a gorgeous location for a family holiday. It has much charm and character and is private and cosy. The kitchen is well-equipped and the garden is a little sun spot. The only real downsides for us were that my teenage son was too long to sleep in the very short bunk beds so ended up sleeping on the floor! Also, on arrival we were quite concerned what we were going to find inside because the doors and windows were dirty, the paint was peeling badly and the front mat should have been thrown away it looked so grotty! We all commented that a quick lick of paint would transform the place. It made the whole cottage look tired and unloved. Also, the windows clearly hadn't been cleaned in a year! We were able to write in the dirt on the front window in the hope that someone might clean them for the next visitor! The rest of the cottage was fairly clean and welcoming. This is our only complaint because we really enjoyed our time there."

"A beautiful cottage in a lovely location with a great shop just a couple of doors down and a lovely safe and fully enclosed paved garden which was great for our dog. Downstairs was beautiful and cosy with lots of space and very good facilities. Upstairs was very quirky and warm. However beware that there are VERY low ceilings upstairs with the sloping ceilings and beams beginning within a couple of feet above the beds on one side. Access to the double beds is from only one side in both rooms (no access from the bottom of either bed due to the low beams). There is a very low beam in the doorway of the well equipped upstairs shower room and a very low sloping ceiling at the top of the stairs. You need to be of average to short height to cope with all of the beams upstairs (even our 10 year old son was bumping his head) and need to be fairly agile for the steep stairs."

"The cottage is located in a lovely little village with a very well equipped shop. The walk to the beach and local cafes and pub is just a mile and easy (but uphill on the way back!). The cottage is well equipped generally, the kitchen particularly. We had basics like washing up liquid and bin bags provided but needed hand soaps and a few bits, which weren't a problem. The dishwasher was broken on arrival but the owners promptly arranged a new one to be installed! The garden is nice and enclosed but needs some tlc and would then be great. The bedrooms are very low and little beds but you don't spend much time there so for us it didn't matter much. Lovely log burner for wet cold days. The place could do with a spice and it's definitely 'country', but is exactly what we expected and all of our adult group really enjoyed it. I would recommend it."

"Great cottage, great location and great hosts. Enjoyed every minute of the time we spent at Beckaveans Granary End July 2019. Ada and Russell were very welcoming, always friendly and always had a minute or two to chat and pass the time of time day with myself and our sons. They have a herd of prize winning South Devon cattle and it wAs nice to be able to watch them grazing peacefully. We saw bats and also a baby toad. Cottage was well appointed, tidy and clean. 5-10mins drive to the beaches at Bude or Widemouth and so we and and our sons 4 and 6 were happy. Both were child friendly and safe beaches with lifeguards. We spent the one rainy day in Launceston at the Lawrence House museum and had fish and chips in the Launceston Fryer- the best fish and chips I have had in ages. A special holiday with a perfect base at Beckaveans Granary"
