"We were really disappointed with this cottage, mainly with the cleanliness of it. The cutlery drawer was dirty and had food debris in it, the cupboards at the side of the cooker were coated in grease, the french doors between the lounge and kitchen were filthy, someone’s dog had obviously been sat on the bed in the spare room because the window was covered in smears, the area around the front and back of the toilet was dirty and there were hairs all over the staircase skirtings, cobwebs were hanging off the covings and had obviously been there for some time, I counted 6 spiders hanging from them and that was just in the lounge!! I know this is a dog friendly cottage and maybe people don’t expect much but I’ve stayed in some beautiful cottages with my dog and you could eat off the floor, I didn’t even want to eat off the dishes in this cottage. We had a problem with the smoke alarm going off of it’s own accord and they came out straight away to replace it, unfortunately it was the wrong one so we just put up with it bleeping. Lily cottage is in such a lovely area, and with a little TLC and a good clean it could be beautiful. Charlestown is great and well worth a visit, the tall ships are very impressive."

"The barn is in a great location which is easy to get to and has stunning views. The owners live onsite in the cottage next door and they are incredibly friendly and helpful if anything is required for the cottage.Unfortunately, whilst the aesthetics are nice, the cottage is incredibly small in terms of it’s living space and was a real struggle for 6 people (4 adults + 2 children). There is very little room to move the dining table to a position which is comfortable for everyone to fit around and the kitchen is only big enough for one person at a time. The lack of space in the kitchen means that there is no room for a dishwasher, which is disappointing as nobody wants to stand at a sink washing up while on holiday. Finally, the two upstairs bedrooms and bathroom are built in to the eaves of the house which, with the sloping ceilings, means that it is not possible to walk around one side of the double bed and the upstairs bathroom is barely usable due to the restricted space. Not a day went by without us banging our heads multiple times and, as a previous guest mentioned, the bed mattresses are not particularly comfortable."

"Clay Cottage is a nice quaint cottage, good for a weekend break but perhaps not for a whole week due to the parking issues already mentioned in many reviews. There is a free car park a 10 second walk from the cottage however you can only park there after 5pm and before 9am - not great if you fancy leaving your car at the cottage for the day and walking from the cottage. As we were only there for 3 nights and spent the 2 main days out and about this wasn't too much of a problem however, if we were to spend longer there, this could become tedious trying to find somewhere else to park in the day time. The cottage itself was cosy and generally clean with a well stocked kitchen. You will need to take your own hairdryer though as there wasn't one to be found in the cottage. There was a high chair, stair gate and a travel cot which we appreciated having a 4 year old and a 19 month old with us. We would stay at Clay Cottage again but perhaps just for the weekend rather than a week."

"Enjoyed our stay at Beachaven ! Interesting location - bit out of the way, so little in the way of traffic, just down the road from the Carlyon Bay Hotel. Very close to main railway line, but didn't really disturb us to be honest. Last train around 23:45, first around 06:00.I would stay here again - nice and spacious and has everything needed for a few days away. Only downpoint was the dishwasher that decided to flood the floor instead of the dishes ! Owner was informed. Oh, and like others have mentioned, the mattress in the main bedroom was awful - so soft it was like a water bed :(Made for a good base to go out visiting, close to Eden Project, although didn't visit as thought the prices were extortionate ( have visited in the past anyway ).Finally worth mentioning is that the owner requested £200 deposit for breakages which I politely declined - T&C's state the deposit is for parties of 6 or more - there were only 4 of us."

"Enjoyed our stay in Charlestown and the cottage was comfortable. There were a few niggles with equipment, but nothing that spoiled things. The location was very peaceful being off the main road , but with no convenience stores in the village, it was a trip in the car for supplies. No shortage of good places to eat within 5 minutes of the cottage & the harbour is beautiful. However, if you like a quiet home, be aware. The four poster bed cracks and creaks, all the doors upstairs close with a squeak & the stairs are extremely creaky. Plus, as all the floors are wooden and the stairs are open plan in to the lounge, every little sound is amplified and carried throughout the cottage. From the lounge, you can hear someone brushing their teeth in the bathroom with the door closed. Depends what you are used to really. Would stay again if we got the chance."
