"We have just returned from our short break at C17th Castle, and would like you to know how very much we enjoyed it. We had the castle all to ourselves and explored every turret! The master suite had wonderful views of the sea and surrounding countryside, and yes, we could see Wales too. The only company we had were two Easter bunnies munching their way through the grass outside, although we understand deer make an appearance from time to time. The castle was pleasantly furnished in a faded elegant way and the chandeliers were splendid. There was a high standard of cleanliness. The sheets were white and fresh and there was an abundance of towels for bath and pool. The pool was a good size and temperature and we made good use of it. It was possible to walk along the sea side which was accessed by a path to the left of the nearby golf club. We would recommend taking walking boots and trainers for rain/sun walking. Three major supermarkets are within a ten minute drive of the castle. We would like to make special mention of Neil who made our stay so relaxing. Last but not least we would like to thank you for this wonderful prize and your generosity in giving it. Our very best wishes to you all"

"I can’t wait to go back here again. Highly recommended! The location was perfect, out in the countryside but 8mins drive from the Clevedon. I loved being able to see the stars at night (back home it’s hard to see them because of street lamps.)Jane and Dave were wonderful hosts. Had the balance perfectly between checking in to see if everything was ok, helpful advice, all the way through to leaving you be to your holiday. They had really thought of everything, from fairy liquid and toiletries (including toilet roll), to lovely big towels, a hairdryer and other such things which may seem small but were incredibly appreciated. They has put together a folder with information about our stay and where would be good to go for restaurants and things to do...had included a load of leaflets and brochures had we wanted to go out and see and do lots of things.I was beyond appreciative that when I arrived (after 5hrs of driving), they had thought to leave us a couple of pints of milk, butter, orange juice, croissants, loaf of bread and some lovely chocolate and caramel shortbread.I’ve been telling everyone what a wonderful time I’ve had and I really can’t wait to be back next year!"

"Hi we had a very chilled out few days at this lovely homely quiet secluded cottage . We were lucky to have great weather so spent most of the time out in the lovely garden. Our dog loved exploring in it. The views were fantastic loved to watch the boats going by. Loved all the extras that were left for us tea coffee milk biscuits everything had been thought off. We didn't find the access a problem to the cottage it was only a few steps down the slope but can imagine it would be slippy in the winter. Maybe a rail to hold on too as you go down. Walked both ways along the coastal path . Found a lovely bay called ladye bay you could walk too and it would probably take 40 minutes but was too hot for our dog so we drove there each day plenty of parking too and very dog friendly. The owners were very helpful and e.mailed us the easiest route to get there and we found it very easy. Plenty of shops to choose from . We went to Tesco and Aldi. Thank you for a great holiday and we hope to come back soon Mandy and Andy and Max"

"The cottage was lovely had brilliant views but the trek to the cottage was horrendous, due to the path from the car park to another car park, this was uneven no lighting at night and when wet was very slippy. the walk then to the cottage from the second car park was well lit until you got to the gate leading to the cottage, there was another incline and three steps to negotiate so by the time you arrived you had to rest. It was stipulated that it was not suitable for the disabled but disability comes in many forms and therefore the write up on this cottage should state not suitable for people with heart problems or breathing issues. There is no handrail on the first path and with the uneven walkway would think this would be an Health and Safety issue."

"Lots of attention to detail showed a real desire to get things right for a variety of possible guests. One tiny problem emerged, which it only took a telephone call to resolve -- owners seemed very anxious to correct it for any future guests. Lots of instructions round the place (we've had issues about this kind of thing before), and things worked efficiently. Using the well equipped kitchen was a pleasure. A good variety of birds in garden and immediate area because of adjacent woodlands, including kites, buzzards, ravens, nuthatch and marsh tits. Would like to try the cottage again in spring/summer months when wildlife would be even more active and extensive. No tricky driving required for access from Usk or Abergavenny."
