"We were made so welcome with home made scones and jam on arrival. The caretakers Stuart and Kay went the extra mile and nothing was too much trouble for them. This is the most immaculately clean cottage that I have ever stayed in. We were 5 adults, 3 boys aged 10, 6 and 7 and 1 puppy. The garden was the best thing ever. It's really large and spacious and the boys had a great time playing footie. The beach was nearby and a lovely walk. There was a 9 hole golf course ( yawn ) but there was also footie golf. That was brilliant. Everything in this cottage is top end from designer towels, fab M & S mattresses to beautiful cutlery. All of the bedrooms are a really good size and have loads of wardrobe and drawer space."

Our group just couldn't fault this place at all.Beautiful enormous beach 10 min walk away, pub 2 min walk away, what more could any one ask for.Just Perfect."

"! Pretty, immaculately clean and everything you need to live there, even down to the pan scourer! There were six of us for my 70th birthday celebrations and we had plenty of space. We had lovely food in the Miners Arms a two minute walk up the road and two visits to the wonderful and almost deserted beach. A great place for using as a base for the Lake District. Had never been to the area before and found the scenery stunning. At the time of writing this, there is no family room, i.e. for a couple and a child, but this wasn't needed by our party. We felt at home instantly and having more than one bathroom/loo was heaven! Would certainly consider the same cottage in the future."

"The cottage has everything you need for a home from home experience. It was welcoming, exceptionally clean, peaceful and the garden is beautiful. The caretakers greeted us on arrival and there was a welcome pack of scones, tea and milk - greatly appreciated after a long drive. On a previous review it stated that the garden isn’t fully secure so were a little worried - an area is sectioned off that contains apple trees, for potential guests with small dogs this could pose an issue however it proved difficult for our larger dog. We couldn’t recommend the cottage enough, it’s a perfect base to discover this area of the country and will definitely book again in the near future."

"A roomy house with lots of character but in need of a bit of tlc. Lovely views from the windows but unfortunately obscured as the double glazed units are misted and need replacing. The house is comfortable and mainly well equipped. Could do with a curtain and bath mats in the bathroom and the shower room. Ceiling paper hanging down in the lounge. Overall we had a pleasant stay in Hartrees House. The surrounding area is beautiful and a great place for exploring. We found shops and a takeaway in Haverigg which is closer than Millom. The village of Ravenglass is excellent for a day out. Plenty of walks around the local area and beyond."
