"Without a doubt the nicest place my family have ever stayed in. The cottage was amazing, luxurious and modern but tasteful and welcoming , the setting unbelievably beautiful. Kim, the owner was superbly helpful, a delight to chat to and clearly cares wanting people to have the best holiday possible. We were fortunate to find the cottage by pure chance and it was in truth at the very top end of my families budget. However it was well worth it and should we be able to get it for a similar price I’ll definitely be trying to book it for next year. Thank you so much Kim for welcoming us and making us feel at home. All the little touches were much appreciated. I would absolutely recommend this place to anyone and hope to come back again one day. For people going here in the future I absolutely recommend watching the stars at midnight from the gorgeous hot tub, please take a walk to the beach a few minutes away to enjoy sunset (stunning)."

"Great holiday cottage and location. The beach is 10 min walk away and is pebbles at the top, then sand after 20+ meters. We walked for a good hour and only saw 4 other people during that time. We tried the pub (1 min walk) a couple of nights and had a good meal, would eat there again. All roads were quiet and it was easy to get around the Lakes. Highly recommend a visit to Eskdale and Wast Water - much quieter than the usual tourist hot spots further away.Comfort and equipmentThe mattress was truly dreadful; probably the worst I've slept on during my 49 years of life. It was so bad, we had to come home a night early so we could get some sleep. If the mattress were replaced, I'd definitely score a "9".Local amenitiesThere are no shops or any facilities in Silecroft apart from the 1 pub. Nearest shops we could find were in Bootle (shuts at 5.30pm) and Millom.Overall, I'd recommend this cottage if the mattress is replaced."

" Due to the property and the age of facilities I would rate it at a 2/3 star. Also although not overly dirty, it was not clean, ie, cooker hood greasy to touch, cobwebs everywhere, hairs in bed !!!! Bed linen and towels very old, generally property very tired. Also very surprised to learn from owner (an elderly gent who was not any help but said he would get someone to contact me) on arrival that central heating is timed resulting on us not being able to heat the house until after approx 6pm, I did try to call owner by phone & text & email as well but had no response. I would not recommend this property in its current state, but to be fair for the price it is reasonable, just needs a little investment and a good clean. "

"I would recommend this cottage up to a point BUT it is not as advertised in that the WIFI is very flaky and unreliable and the road between the A-road and the cottage is only for experienced drivers as it is like a corkscrew ride at a fairground. Having said that the cottage is very comfortable but it is right on the main road of the hamlet and not very private unless you keep the blinds down. That didn't faze us as the conservatory was ideal to sit out in and eat, and the garden was nice to look at. Unfortunately it was rather overgrown so we couldn't actually use it. The location is very quiet as it is very rural but quite close to the South Lakes, specifically Coniston Water, Windermere Water with its Railway and to Ravenglass and their miniature railway."

"Would definitely recommend Shore Meadow. Close to the beach for long morning walks if you are up for that. Cottage was very good every thing you need is there and couldn't be faulted. We had a break in power whist we were there - nothing to do with the cottage - fault in the supply and that is when we met the neighbours - absolutely fabulous. Outage didn't affect them and so they phoned the supplier and laid on flasks of hot water for our morning tea and coffee. Fantastic views all around the cottage. Rolling hills right round to the sea and its beautiful sunsets.Whilst in that area a must visit is King Billy's pub / restaurant. Steak there is mouth watering and the host is very welcoming. We would stay at Shore Meadow again no question."
