"We had an excellent time at Tulchan Lodge and would definitely like to visit again. A very relaxing time inside the lodge and outside on the lovely well maintained and furnished garden. Access via the private road is a bit rough but once you get to the property drive it's very impressive. The views from the lodge are amazing and not another living soul in site apart from sheep, cows and the wild pheasants. The lodge itself is very spacious, we were a party of 16 (4 families of 2 adults & 2 children) therefore 2 rooms and a bathroom per family so everyone had their own space too. The large living room was hardly used, the large dining room was used only once as we spent most of our time in the kitchen/family area and conservatory. Basic Sky TV channels available but that was hardly watched, the WiFi service was very good specially on the ground floor and some rooms on the upper floors. The weather was good enough to to have a lovely BBQ with the gas BBQ provided We had some minor issues with the water supply in the turret bathroom and the top floor bathroom but it was minor and possibly due to so many people having showers at the same time. We also had problems getting the gas oven to work but the agar more than made up for it. None of these spoilt our stay.Overall very good value for money and we were very happy with Tulchan Lodge."

"The area and property were not as described, all the eateries , hotels and bistro are closed and boarded up. There is just 1 pub open which we wouldn't take children in and 1 shop. The description of newburn house led us to believe there was a separate shower room on the ground floor, not that it was only accessed through a bedroom and therefore an en-suite. It said the family bathroom (which has no shower) was on the top floor hen in fact it is on the first floor with the double bedrooms and not with the twin rooms. Many people have written in the visitors book since 2008 that the fridge is not big enough for large groups, yet this still has not been addressed.also many of the windows are blown and this doesn't give a good impressionWhen clearing our Lego we moved on he sofa's to find Christmas chocolates and pistachio shells and sweet wrappers down the sides of the cushions, so is the cleaning only that done by visitors? On a positive note none of the above spoilt the holiday and we imagine it was a very tired property that is taking time and money to renovate. Glenluce comes across as a dying village but the neighbours were really lovely"

"The location is absolutely unique. We were were privileged to have access to the observation which is attached to the house, from which we could look across the Solway Firth to the Lake District. At dawn and dusk we watched up to 20,000 barnacle geese filling the sky, looking for morning grazing and evening roosting sites. The sound of the geese in the air is wonderful.. Add to this, the whooper swans, freshly arriving from Iceland landing the pond in front of the conservatory and badgers outside the conservatory in the evening. The house itself is warm and comfortable with good facilities. Attention has been paid to detail. There is a cafe on the reserve which is open in the daytime. If you want an urban experience, this is not the place for you. It is fairly remote, but with a car, you can visit the hometown of Burns or the handsome caerlaverock castle and beyond. There is a walk along the marsh to the castle. It is a privilege to be able to stay in the heart of a nature reserve. We did have beautiful weather so it was very easy to be out of doors."

"There was definitely a WOW moment on arrival . Great size of rooms . Great ambience .We had a marvellous weekend and everyone had a fantastic time . We are recommending this to anyone who will listen . The absence of WiFi and only one bar on the phone of the person who had a Vodaphone contract made it a throwback to the good old days when board games ruled and no one played with their phone , texting and messaging whilst having dinner. In fact the absence of modern enhancements was a major factor in the success of the weekend . The weather was abysmal but who cared ! You could be picky and say that the sofas and chairs though fitting the house ,desperately needed recushioning and that the the bathrooms needed upgraded , but who cares . Take wine . CD`s , games and good intent . ENJOY!"

"Our family of 10 spent a wonderful week at Burnfoot of Cluden. The house is extremely spacious and comfortable, and we were all able to have a relaxing holiday without getting into each other's hair! The kitchen is well-equipped and perfect for making large meals, while the bathrooms are spacious and the bedrooms generous. We particularly loved the beautiful gardens in which many of our group spent a large part of their vacation. We went on several nearby local walks, as well as some a bit further afield (<40min drive) - the house's location guarantees peace and quiet, but is also on the doorstep of many of the area's best walks. All in all, we would not hesitate to stay here again, and will likely be booking another break here in the next couple of months!"
