"Stayed at cottage from 6th July-13th July, location, scenery and hot tub fabulous although hot tub was not the cleanest when we arrived although my husband had mentioned this concern to owners after reading previous visitors reviews. They ought to be maintaining hot tub daily especially when a party of 6 as we were are using it daily. The cottage itself was a huge disappointment 😔 back bedrooms bed is badly broken and expect a visit to chiropractors after your stay. Extractor for cooker not working, dining table leg broken, one of single beds broken, practically no running hot water in bathroom sink and not much power in shower. No bike shed as stated, front bedroom wardrobe doors broken, bbq filthy on arrival, hoover smelt of wet dog which was absolutely disgusting also musty smell in bedroom cupboard aswell as throughout whole cottage on arrival. Overall was really dissatisfied would recommend overhaul and replacement of many items especially the hoover. In no way good value for money costing much more than it’s worth. Certainly would not be returning 😡😡"

"Westervale is in a great location. Close enough to the village but also far enough away for piece and quite. Both Glasgow and Edinburgh are about an hour away. The cottage had a few niggles, no name plate on the cottage. When we arrived in the dark I had to guess we were at the right place. The decking around the hot tub hasn’t been swept for awhile, orange slices, fag ends and tea lights littered the decking. No outside light when in the hot tub, The open fire hadn’t been cleaned for quite some time, I emptied a bin bags worth of ash from under the grate. The living/dinning room feels quite small with such a large melted tv on the wall above the fire. A lot of the kitchen utensils are broken. I probably wouldn’t book again"

"Beautiful peaceful cottage, situated with no through traffic at the end of a farm road. The house is very spacious, with a lot of modern facilities but still retaining its character. Short journey to local shops and plenty of places to visit in the surrounding area. Nice to relax in front of an open log fire in the evening. The owners are very helpful with local knowledge (especially Mandy) and nothing was too much trouble. We would definitely come back to this cottage just because of the amazing Mandy and her beautiful dog Ben who came to visit us every day and seems to love everybody. It was a pleasure to stay in their former home. Highly recommend for those wanting a restful respite from town or city life."

"We had a great stay at Westervale. The cottage is so well equipped and has everything you could possibly need. From tea, coffee, and sugar, to children's toys, board games, an X-box and games, and even a bed and bowls for the dog! The hot tub was great, however could do with some lighting for the dark evenings. The enclosed garden was great and our dog had a great time exploring it. For anyone with children (or mischievous dogs) there is a small burn in the garden that is open, our dog had a great time splashing about but I'd be wary of leaving children playing unsupervised. All in all this cottage is great value for money and we have all said that we would definitely return for another stay at some point!"

"Lovely wee cottage right in the heart of the village of Kirkmichael. One of the days we were there was also the day a storm/gale blew in (we did know it was coming, the forecasters gave plenty of warnings), and the power for the whole area went off, the owner could not have been more helpful and could not do enough for us.Thankfully this cottage allows dogs, and although there is no garden, The Bannerfield is very close by, just over the bridge, next to the fire station. A lovely big field to let the dog play about in, and has a bin next to the gate. Important information for dog owners. We enjoyed our stay, and hope to come back again."
